Big fat update: more resources, even more research and 2 new languages

Hello everyone, ReFactory team’s online!

We are proud to announce that a new ReFactory update is now available for our fans! This is a huge one, and we could not have done it without everyone's great feedback.

This update is a big step forward in making the game more fun and welcoming to all players, with over 50 improvements and new features. We also added the ability to get water from new sources and a pile of new resources to discover.


In addition, AI 'Synthie' is able to speak German and Spanish.


Now, let’s dive into details about changes in the ReFactory update. Ready! Steady! Go!



Technological breakthrough!



In today's update, we're introducing an unprecedented ingame technological leap.
There is so much new research that it is worth talking about each one separately.

New research "Synthetic oil"



The "Synthetic Oil" research allows you to create resources in the Laboratory. This is the perfect way you can get out of a difficult situation when the oil field is empty! However, this is not a panacea. You won't be able to rely on Synthetic Oil exclusively.



New research "Building yard"



Now the research "Building yard lvl.2" and "Building yard lvl.3" are available in the game, they will increase the service area.
Drones can now operate over a wider area.



New research “Logistics”



"Logistics lvl. 2" will allow you to build a new object - the Merger. Now you can evenly merge resource flows from three tapes into one without any downtime!



"Logistics Lv.3" will add 4 more squares to the maximum length of the Underground Conveyor!



"Logistics lvl. 4" will give you an unprecedented opportunity to build a Conveyor directly on top of trees and crystals! You can not only place the Saw Machine right in the center of a field of crystals or a forest, but also give them the desired shape yourself!



New research "Economical Weapons"



2 levels of this research are aimed at reducing the energy consumption of all weapons during the battle.



New research "Smelting"



"Smelting Lv.2" and "Smelting Lv.3" will unlock additional recipes for Silicon Wafers and Building slabs!



New research "Irrigation 3"



"Irrigation lvl.3" will open a new resource - Feed Water. It can be loaded into Sprinkler. Such watering accelerates the growth of trees and crystals by 2 times.



Nanotechnology and infinity!



Now the “Custom Game” mode has the ability to be truly endless!

A total of 17 infinite researches are available in the new Nano research category! Yes, yes, you can upgrade them to at least level 1000!

These studies with each level give a small pumping of the game parameters that the player needs most at the current stage of base development. But the cost of each new level will increase…



In addition to these researches, of course, there are as many as 6 new resources and a new building - Nano printer!





Map editor



The new "Map Editing Mode" allows you to load any "Custom Game" save and edit it as you wish: add / remove resources / objects / monsters or remove everything and create a unique map to your taste!


Don't forget to show off your masterpieces!



Rich deposits are even bigger now!



Deposits and lakes set to "rich" now have 999,999,999 resources!
This will work even on old saves! The exhausted deposits and lakes have refilled!



Close connection between meteorites and lakes



Now meteorites are no longer just a natural disaster. In this update, when the meteorite fell and formed a funnel, then with a small chance a new source of water appeared there - "Crater lake". Have you ever expected this?



Campaign Difficulty Setting



You have been asking us for this for a long time, and we have finally implemented this idea! Now you can choose a comfortable difficulty level at the start of any mission.

You can edit:
—The number and strength of monsters in the night waves
— Monster evolution rate
— Frequency of meteorite falls



Analyze it! More statistics



We have added the ability to view the statistics of your base at any stage of the game. More data for the God of Data!



Previously, the statistical table was displayed by default to the player at the end of a mission or an important stage of the game, but now the analytics are available by clicking without leaving the main menu.



New features of the T-satellite



The T-Satellite will find the Destroyed Ooze Generator. This ability will be unlocked by unlocking the corresponding research.



Players have hinted to our team a lot about difficulties with finding the Destroyed Ooze Generator. Now it's in the bag!



Any building level on click



We set out to make it easier to build (and rebuild) the base for everyone who was waiting for this revision. No sooner said than done!

Now in the construction mode, you can select and build a building of any of the levels available to the player. You just have to choose: lvl.1, lvl.2 or lvl.3



Quick Save



We've added a super quick save option without the need for extra clicks!

You can now save and load the game by clicking:
Shift+F2 - quick save with a separate name
F9 - Quick Save Fast Load

Nice skill changes



1.Skills to increase work speed of all mining and production buildings now provide 20% haste (instead of 10% as it was before).



2. Skills to accelerate research gives 25% acceleration (instead of 10% as it was before).



2 new languages



Now Synthie will speak not only Russian and English. Full professional translation into German and Spanish - in action!

We dreamed of making ReFactory more understandable and native to a larger number of players and expand the audience of the game. We are getting closer to our dreams!

The long-awaited update!

Hello everyone, ReFactory team’s online!

Welcome a small, but important update of ReFactory. We’ve implemented the long-awaited ideas of creating megafactories! Of course, those ideas are yours :)

There are new features in this version:

  1. Changing the area of work of industrial buildings
  2. Growing your own plantations of Forests and Crystals
  3. Cutting off the electricity supply to the cannons (and turning it on again at will!)

Irrigation and new garden plantations



Now we are not predatory consumers of the planet’s non-renewable resources, but the real lords over Forests and Crystals. “Fertilize, irrigate, get bonuses for housekeeping!” — this is the green motto of the update.

Opening the “Irrigation lvl. 2” tech grants an opportunity to become the owner of plantations of Forests and Crystals.

‘Sprinkler’ tech has been renamed to “Irrigation lvl.1” and now has 2 upgrade levels.

— The first level is a normal Sprinkler

— The second level unlocks a new resource: “Fertilizer”, which makes it possible to grow your own garden on an unknown planet.



There are 3 features regarding crystal and plant growing that are important to consider.

First, You can only place your plantation next to the source resource.





Second, There are only 80 cells at your disposal. Making the field infinite won’t work.



Third, Without watering, seedlings will not turn into a full-fledged Crystal or Forest plantation, rich in resources. No pain, no gain.



It’s just like life, isn’t it?



A good U-turn is what you need!



We’ve added a “Change direction” button for the production buildings. It’s not a joke, now you can set the direction of the flow of resources back and forth.



The players repeatedly asked for this idea to be implemented, and the Refractory team heard them. Well, you can’t just … mirror the building!



Now the “Change direction” button solves the problem of complicated production lines and gives more opportunities for organizing the base.

So, now you can twist ’em any way you like!

ON/OFF button for Cannons



The combat equipment of the base requires a lot of resources. And when the Cannons are idle, they continue to consume energy you might’ve planned to use for something else.

Now you can ‘pause’ their energy consumption. It’s a case of ‘A penny saved is a penny earned.’



Cargo stations limits



Now you can specify loud and clear the amount and the type of resource that should be delivered to a particular Cargo station.





New overlays



When the Sprinkler is selected, the areas of action for all the nearest ones are visible.

The same, for the Drainer.



New Puzzle



Time to use the sharpness of your mind, solving a fresh and rather difficult task.



Other fixes




  1. In the first mission there are now more objects with resources that can be dismantled and used for development of the base.

  2. Wind turbines can no longer be built at the foot of hills. To convert wind into energy, you will have to place it on a hill.

  3. We fixed an unfortunate mistake, where canceling the repair of a destroyed building removed it entirely. Everything’s fine now!

  4. The situation where resources located on the ground could be affected by an air defense shot at an approaching meteorite was completely eliminated.

  5. Other minor fixes.

In this update we lowered the difficulty of mission 3 and added a new 5th mission!

And now there is an opportunity to blow up hills and drained lakes. Just imagine: now you can level the landscape of the planet to suit your needs!

Moreover, we’ve simplified the process of supplying energy to buildings at a great distance from the base.

Changes in missions



New mission ‘Sudden stop’



Welcome to the follow-up of the story of Synthie’s adventures on the unknown planet!
Gonna have to work. the conditions are no picnic as usual: a few deposits, monsters never sleep, and the clock’s ticking!
Even a seasoned prepper will be able to put his knowledge and skill into practice.

‘Per aspera ad astra’ mission fixes



We’ve made mission 3 easier - lowered the number of monsters and added more resources.

We designed it to be hardcore, and seems like we achieved the goal. However, most of the players gave rather negative feedback on our desire to make it ‘sweaty’. So the Refractory team took your wishes into account, and lowered the excessive difficulty of tasks, leaving the mission just as interesting.

Gameplay innovations



A new research Terraforming



We're all here to build a perfect base and to rule the world. Meet Terraforming — the best way to arrange a Big-Bada-Boom and put the surrounding lands in order!

Now, are we ready to get started?
Here is how the leveling process looks like:





After researching the Terraforming you will be able to blow up hills and drained lakes.

After the explosion, lakes emit mud and hills emit stones. Keep in mind that the blast wave affects not only the lake or the hill, but also all objects nearby, both man-made and organic.

Thus your buildings near a hill or lake that you plan to blow up will receive considerable damage. Also, the nearby forests and crystals will be destroyed.

To terraform you will need a new resource - Plastic explosive.
It is used for engineering operations with a large directed explosion.



New building Energy Tower



It will be easier to transfer energy over long distances now. It is possible to organize real power transmission lines by building several energy towers. They will connect distant sections of the map in a straight line.



A network of small electric poles can be built around each tower. Pay attention, because without an electric pole, none of your buildings will be connected to the tower!

Skills menu



You can find a Skill button at the bottom of the indicator bar.



Clicking on it opens the usual window for studying skills. Here you can see what you have chosen before. There was - and there is - no way to edit the selection.



More water



Many players faced water shortages in the lakes.
The wish has been heard: the amount of water in the lakes has been increased from 50k to 70k units.

Improvements to the Custom Game mode



Now you can find ship containers with various resources in your Custom Game.



To get the valuable contents, the containers will have to be repaired first.

Other fixes




  1. Added a new display of intersections of covering zones of different guns.



  2. Trucks can now drive through the fog of war.

  3. Added UI improvements for mobile devices: the layout of the interface is changed so that the cutout on the smartphone display does not interfere with the game.

  4. The Custom Game settings can now be saved.

  5. Other minor fixes.

Roads, an Adjustable Splitter, 12 new tasks for the Custom Game and more!

Hello everyone, ReFactory team’s online!

This update brings Roads for the Trucks, some new objectives for the Custom Game mode, an adjustable Splitter, and an additional spaceport. We’ve also added the ability to take the Radars to a new level and get new perks for delivering cargo into orbit.

Development of the Transport System



1. Meet Roads! From your feedback, Truck speed was an important parameter to be refined. Now, vehicles and drones move much faster using roads (+50%).



2. Freight stations can now be built over conveyor belts.



3. Information about «En route» resources was added to the Freight Stations window.



4. The game now offers new achievements related to cargo transportation.

5. The fuel for transport and spacecraft became more efficient: it now gives 60 units instead of 20.



We continue to work on improving the Transportation System. We carefully study all the wishes of the players and try to implement them in the game.
We’re aware of the players' request for more control over the movement of trucks, as well as the priorities of cargo transportation. We’re still in the process of implementing a balanced solution.

Improvements to the Custom Game mode



1. Now enabling the «Many deposits» option in the Custom Game settings makes the map generation more harmonious.

2. And for those of you who were too bored, we added 12 new objectives of delivering cargo into orbit.



Shipping the cargo takes on the full functionality of the entire Spaceport. This means that in the game will appear… drum roll, please!

Additional Spaceport and Perks



To send the cargo delivery to orbit in Custom Game, we added the possibility to build 2 Spaceports at once. Research the “Satellite” tech and gain +1 Spaceports into your collection!



Thus,
Spaceport 1 is to open the game map and deposits by launching satellites.
Spaceport 2 is responsible for shipping cargo into orbit and receiving perks!

New Splitter



Now the Splitter has 3 outlets. Each of them can be closed and configured.



After researching the “Resource Filter” tech, the Splitter can be upgraded to 3 outlets.



New Overlays



We take the control of the base to a new level: there are now displays of the areas covered by Radars and Building Drones. You also get a building grid.

New tech: «Telemetry»



Now you can boost the Radars to become even more convenient and useful for the player.



What will that research give?

Telemetry lvl. 1 - acceleration of identification of underground deposits.

Telemetry lvl. 2 - increasing Railgun fire rate within the Radar range.

Telemetry lvl. 3 - increasing the air defense radius within the Radar range.

Knowledge Base development





The tab «Miscellaneous» was added to the Knowledge Base. There you will find various objects of the game world with descriptions. The ReFactory world is becoming increasingly streamlined!

Other fixes




  1. Added selection of the number of auto-savers in the Game settings.

  2. Reworked the wind power formula. There will no longer be any situations where the wind turbine is inactive in a calm. Thank the Tech God! Wind power will be a little more efficient now.



  3. Added the possibility to set a hotkey to the «Fix Everything» option.

  4. A small cosmetic fix - Tips to Graphical Interface Elements (PC) have appeared.

  5. ReFactory tips added to the boot screen.

  6. Сorrected an unfortunate error where the Protective Droid could not find a way to the base on the command «Home». Now everything is fine!

  7. Ruled out the situation where it was impossible to build the Large Freight Station on the swamp. It was a bug that needed to be fixed.

  8. Eliminated the missing resources from the Container if the filter was set to the resource that was already in it.

  9. Other minor fixes.

New Year’s Eve update

Hey everyone, ReFactory team’s online!

This update brings Transport! Now you can use trucks to carry cargo to the most distant places. Pulling the conveyor belt through the whole map is now just a memory. Also we’ve improved the building system to make it more convenient, and upgraded Auto Save.

Finally, Transport!



For quite a long time, players asked us to solve the problem of pulling the conveyor belts beyond the horizon, hundreds of kilometers from the base to the source of the required resource. We’ve come up with a thoroughly prepared solution — Transport in ReFactory.



A brief update on it:

— New techs and resources related to Transport have appeared;



— Our vehicle is a Truck. It can be made at the Auto Plant;



— Trucks carry resources between two Cargo Stations at any distance. You don’t have to pull conveyors to remote parts of the map anymore;



— Trucks pass through any obstacle: wood, rocks, crystals or any building. Except for lakes: they can’t dive or swim.

— There are two types of Cargo Stations: Small (x1) and Large (x4). You must have at least two stations to organize the transportation system. Or more, if necessary.



— To transport the resource, you need to organize its delivery to the Cargo Station, as well as to build Containers in the receiving station.

— There is a Building yard nearby when deploying the Cargo station. It makes building in remote areas quicker and more convenient.

Auto Save upgrade



We added the opportunity to save different variants of Puzzle solutions. Now there will be no more cases when autosaving of the Puzzle rewrites the save file of your main mission.

More informative Wind Turbines



Now you can check the wind force in the Wind Turbine information window.



Upgrades for even more convenient building



— Rotation of the group of constructions in the building mode;



— Improving the selected group of identical buildings simultaneously, literally in one click!



— A hotkey to build the selected object in the planning mode. Less clicks, more convenient buttons! Simply press E or Enter while building, and your development plan is agreed;



— Setting hotkeys during the game. Now in Settings there is a tab called “Hotkeys” (the only way to do that before was from the Main Menu).



Fixing Display Area of Building Activity



Displaying the area of action of a group of objects was brighter, the more of them are selected.
We have removed excessive brightness, but kept it visually informative.



Other fixes




  1. Cancelling the research drone’s current mission if it is damaged;

  2. Fixed an unfortunate error that led to the failure of the conveyor belts. Everything is fine now!

  3. Completely eliminated a situation where a construction drone hangs over the Container for a long time. It was a mistake that needed to be fixed;

  4. Other minor fixes.
