A local arena mode has now been added to Reginald Does His Thang!
Supporting up to 4 players locally, this mode has been designed to support controllers with the standard Xbox or Playstation layout and contains the following:
10 levels in varied areas (outdoors, indoors, caves) with hazards from the single player game.
8 playable characters.
Options such as item spawn rate, enemy spawn rates, and starting ammo/grenades.
Three game modes:
Freeplay: no win condition, a solid way to learn the game's mechanics and experiment.
Survival: last alive wins. Players become controllable ghosts upon losing all lives.
Coin Hunt: most coins at the end of the round wins. Upon death players spawn a percentage of their coins at location of death.
Arena mode has also been released as a standalone game, for free, on Steam as Reginald's Death Arena.
Version 1.52 changes:
Upgraded to Unity version 2021_1.4f1
Arena mode is now active, supports 4 players and multiple controller types.
Added ability to pause to all players.
Added Rewired functionality - allows for more controllers, including PS4.
Changed a few UI elements such that they should scale with resolution increases, with 1920x1080 as a reference point.
Adjusted grenade knockback parameters to make it less easy to sprint into your own grenades.
Removed the explosion from the stalactites upon destruction, as it was causing strange bugs and at times lag. Would prefer to determine the cause and add it back at some point.
Fixed an ice vomit bug that was causing near-infinite ice ground to spawn.
Lowered horizontal ladder speed movement (for single player game).
Planned for future updates:
A tutorial screen explaining mechanics (if you have not played the single player game, there are multiple mechanics and controls to learn how to use effectively).
Add D-Pad controls for movement.
Test with additional controllers.
Refine the UI.
Optimization (too many coins causes slowdown, players spawning on fire should be fixed, etc.)
Additional levels and characters.
