Launch Error Update Including Unity2022.3.8f1_b5eafc012955 Error
Hi Topians!
The following error has been appearing at launch for some of our players:
We understand this is frustrating to experience and wanted to make sure that we communicate why this is happening. This error occurs 95% of the time because the computer specs do not meet the minimum requirements for Hometopia at this time.
We are in Early Access and working really hard to optimize for more systems, but, for the time being, these are our minimum specs:
Requires a 64-bit processor and operating system OS: Windows 10 (64-bit versions) Processor: Intel Core 8th gen Memory: 8 GB RAM Graphics: Nvidia GTX 1060 4GB DirectX: Version 12 Network: Broadband Internet connection Storage: 10 GB available space
How to check if your computer meets the specs:
Click on the Windows Start button, then click on Settings (the gear icon). In the Settings menu, click on System. Scroll down and click on About. (You must meet all requirements, including the dedicated graphics card, to play Hometopia at this time.)

Issue causing unfair 1-star client reviews has been fixed
Multiplayer lobby can now be collapsed so it doesn't block job icons
Campaign objective window has been made shorter so it doesn't block job icons
Fixed an issue with render scale settings, which caused severe performance issues on lower settings in some cases
Volume sliders have been fixed so that turning off music doesn't turn off sound effects
Fixed message that appears when you try to buy land but are too low level so that it now says "You must be a rank 7 developer to buy land"
Landscaping jobs have been temporarily removed while we spray for bugs
A kitchen in one of the midtown heights homes was fixed so you will no longer get the "kitchen too small" message

Hometopia Pricing Announcement
Dear Hometopia Community,
Last week, Unity unexpectedly changed their pricing model to a pay-per-install basis, essentially making all but the biggest free-to-play Unity games unsustainable. This announcement completely blindsided us and all other indie developers using Unity. With Hometopia's Early Access launch planned for next week, the timing is particularly difficult, but we didn’t want to delay our planned September 27th release.
We had planned for Hometopia to be a free-to-play game with optional DLCs that players could choose to purchase to upgrade their experience. Unity’s new pricing model means we have to charge for the game, and we deeply regret that. This has been an impossibly difficult decision for us.
Hometopia will be priced at $19.99 during Early Access, which will begin on September 27th. The planned ‘Builders Pass’ DLC (with 1,000 new items and premium biomes) originally priced at $19.99 will now be included in the game upon initial purchase. All Builders Pass updates and additions that were planned for EA will now be automatically added into the game at no additional cost.
We will also be offering a 15% launch discount.
We are truly sorry to make this change so close to launch, but this is the only way we can bring Hometopia to you and continue to support it for years to come. Our promise to you is that we will always listen to our community, lead with transparency, and do everything in our power to deliver the best game we possibly can.
