Finally it is here!! After a ton of work we finally have Rekindling playable in multiplayer. Updates will now resume their normal speed with our next one already less than 10 days away. Do keep in mind multiplayer is an early access feature in our early access game. So expect quite a few hiccups. We have an active channel on our Discord going at it to try and find bugs and bring them to us!
Multiplayer
When starting a game you are now given the option to start a 'Co-op' game. Doing so will open your game up for your friends to join! Make sure you have opened a port on your router as you are hosting the server locally. The default port for Rekindling is: 62345. Once you are in the game a friend can hit join game and help you build your settlement in tandem with you!
Technical rants
This update ended up taking a lot longer than indented. As many of you know, Rekindling runs off of our own custom game engine, as such we wanted to build a robust multiplayer framework we can use for all future games we make. We ended up restarting from scratch on the multiplayer part 3 times in the past 5 months. It has been an adventure, but the core framework there now is good and we now have a ton of room to grow and quickly add to it.
There will most likely be a ton of small updates over the coming weeks finding bugs with multiplayer and getting it to a spot where we feel comfortable with it. So bear with us and report anything you find to us here on Steam or on our Discord
Final thoughts
Thank you guys for still having interest in Rekindling. I have a lot of big plans for this game that extend pretty far into the future. As always we welcome any and all feedback so keep it coming! See you guys soon.

Development Update: Multiplayer Incoming... Help us test it!
Hey guys quick update on the state of Rekindling. We are deep in making our core custom engine that we use support multiplayer! An update was scheduled for the first week in December, however this will be delayed till later for more testing. This is the largest update for a game we have ever done so please with us :)
Speaking of testing we are looking for people who own the game and want to get their hands on multiplayer early. Join our Discord to get more updates throughout December on this.
To hold you guys over as this has been the longest Rekindling has gone without an update, Here are some of the planned Multiplayer game modes. Not all of these will be available at first, but to be transparent with you on what we have planned!
Core game-Multiplayer:
Play the game with another person like you would normal Rekindling!
Control mode Multiplayer:
Play the game controlling only one survivor and giving out orders to others. Each player controls a different survivor.
Zims Vs Survivors
Two teams face off as one team controls the Zim hordes and the other mans the settlement in pre-made scenarios.
As always please let us know any questions you may have. Thanks!
Update 0.71 Shockingly Fast.
This weeks update brings some new electrical defensive items as well as some major performance fixes across the board.
Electric fences
There is a new type of defense! Electric fences. Zims attacking the fence will damage themselves if the fence is on and powered. This makes it easier to setup a perimeter that will help you hold back the zim hordes
Tesla Towers
Another new turret that runs off of electricity has been added. It will zap any zims or raiders that come near to it as long as it has sufficient power!
Lighting changes
The lighting system has changed how it works a bit to allow for more variant sizes and colors based on the object glowing. For example Tesla towers and electric fences will have a small blue glow while a roaring bonfire will have a larger orange glow.
Performance fixes
We found & fixed a couple of major lag issues plaguing the game. Rekindling now handles having a large amount of jobs 3000% better (actual number). As well animal pathing was not using the fancy new pathing system added awhile back, with the addition of tamed animals that was causing issues when they had to go across the map to do jobs for the settlement. We fixed that. The animals are smarter now.
Other helpful things
More helpful tooltips to help players better understand what is going on and why have been added. Such as 'no power' icons and warnings on buildings that are not powered.
Final Thoughts & next update
Rekindling is really starting to come together! We have some fun plans for the rest of the year for Rekindling. The next update (coming in January) will be one of the largest updates to the game ever. I look forward to sharing that with you guys! Keep the feedback coming here or in our Discord channel.

Update 0.70. Mental and physical well-being
This weeks update focuses on not only physical wellness but also mental wellness! We all know it is very important during a global virus to keep up with both of these!
New defensive buildings. Baits
To help with your physical well-being we have added two new buildings: gut bait and meat bait. These buildings will attract Zims to them allowing you to setup traps turrets or just lure them away from your base to keep your survivors safe!
Flower pots!
To help with your mental well-being we have added flower pots. flower pots can help passively boost the happiness of survivors who are around them.
New attack mechanics
We have tweaked the combat mechanics slightly to make it easier for the survivors you want to fight to be the only ones fighting. Survivors who are not allowed to fight will now flee when engaged in combat and call for help from other survivors instead of just trying to fight back alone. As well survivors with low health will start to flee sooner than before.
The dead will rise
You will want to be more careful with your dead survivors as if you do not dispose of them quickly they can come back as a zim and attack your still alive survivors!
Giving you all the foxes
To go along with the theme of helping with the mental and physical wellness we have deiced to show you that we give a fox by adding foxes to in the game.
Update Stream & final thoughts
We will be doing a short stream going over some of the features in this update. Feel free to drop by and ask any questions you would have about this update or future updates! Update 0.69: Engine Upgrades!!
Hey guys bit of a different update this week. We have spent a lot of time the past couple of weeks going through and revamping our custom game engine that Rekindling runs on. This should reflect in a ton of subtle improvements in performance. As we reworked how the game handles sound effects as well as how it handles animations.
We have some really big plans that are just starting to materialize that are made possible by the engine upgrades we are doing. Lets just say it might be easier to manage a colony if you had friends controlling the survivors ;) check out our Discord for more info on how to get involved in this early in the coming months.
Some other fun news is we have launched a new game called Operation Zeta that also runs on our game Engine. Feel free to check it out as you can get it cheaper if you own our first game Inevitability and Rekindling. Don't worry this doesn't mean Rekindling is going to be abandoned or get less love. We have very long term plans for Rekindling getting regular updates as it has for the past year and getting out of early access with a more complete unique game.

Training Buildings
We have added punching bags and studies. You can assign a survivor to one of these and have them work on their physical or mental skills in their freetime or if they don't have anything else to do.
More control mode things
You can now do most of the things a survivors can do when not being controlled while you are controlling a survivor. We have added the ability to do refueling, researching and uh... other important functions.. see the below picture. I think its self explanatory.
Other fun news
If you guys have been following us we have another game coming out next month on Steam! Don't worry this doesn't mean Rekindling will get any less love, as it has been in development alongside Rekindling for almost a year now. We have some fun things planned for people who own both games with exclusive in game items.
As always thank you for the feedback and support you have given us! Tons more content and updates are on the way. Feel free to drop us a review or give us any feedback here or on our Discord. Operation Zeta Launching next month
Hey guys Operation Zeta will be launching on Steam next month on the 5th year Anniversary of the Steam release of Inevitability. Oz has the same cast of characters Inevitability, From the rough space monkeys Oohkin to the slimy space Slugula. All built in our custom made game engine.
If you are worried that this will slow down development for Rekindling, It will not. Rekindling remains a primary focus for us and Oz has been in development for almost a year now alongside Rekindling. So the pace shall remain the same on Rekindling updates as it has been! As well there is going to be some cool exciting things for people who own both games ;)
In Oz your goal is to hop from rock to rock doing quests and collecting parts for your crashed warship before the enemy destroys the entire warzone with their death laser. Every time you play will feel different as the world is randomly generated and there are tons of scenarios, races and ships to build and explore.
We will go into a closed beta on Steam for our patrons early next month before early access. If you have any questions about OZ feel free to join our discord as ask away! Hope to hear from you soon.
Here is a ship waving hello with its grappling magnet.
Update 0.67 New gamemode & doctors
This weeks update has two new major features, A new game mode and a doctoring system.
Doctoring
A new job type has been added, doctoring. Injured survivors will now find a medical zone and wait for another survivor to come heal them. They will slowly heal themselves when here as well but do much better when they have a doctor helping them. Medical beds have also been added, building these will speed up the healing process even more.
All survivors now have a doctoring skill that dictates how good they are at doing doctoring jobs. Any survivors from old updates will get a random skill level in it when you next load them up.
New game mode: Control
As the past couple of updates have improved control mode significantly we have added a new gamemode to play: control only. In this mode everything functions as it does in survival mode except you are directly controlling one survivor. If your one survivor you are controlling dies its game over! Hopefully this helps create a more immersive way to play.
And of course....
This wouldn't be a Rekindling update if we didn't add a new animal! We have added raccons along with coonskin caps! Everyone knows you need one of thease bad boys if you are trying to survive in the wild.
Final thoughts
As always thank you for your feedback as a ton of the bugs fixed in this update were found by you guys! Keep the feedback coming, feel free to leave us a Review here on Steam or join the Discord. If not see you in a couple weeks with more fun things in the next update.

Update 0.66 Better control mode
This is a update heavy on fixes. As well we made it a lot easier to stay in control mode for longer!
Control mode revamp
Something that makes Rekindling unique is the ability to play directly as any of your survivors. As such we spent a lot of time for this weeks update on making it so you can do a lot more while controlling your survivors. You can now manage your inventory, equip items and do building jobs while you are in control mode. As well we have reworked how a lot of the core of control mode works so there are significantly fewer bugs around using it.
More help
One of the biggest complaints about Rekindling is it is hard to figure out how the controls work when you first start playing. As such we have added tooltips on what buttons you need to hit to do what. If there is something you think we missed that we should add please let us know!
Better item handling
Before this update if a item dropped on top of another item it would just delete the item that was trying to be placed. That is no fun! Now the item will find a nearby tile and drop it to that tile. As well when one of your survivors dies they will drop all of their equipment and items so your still alive survivors can reuse their loot!
Final thoughts/Next update
As always thank you all for the support and feedback!! This update, on top of the above new items, has a ton of bug fixes that are listed below, many of which were reported by you guys.
In the next update we will be expanding the control mode even further with a 'control only mode' and the ability for the person you are controlling to do even more jobs, such as crafting. As always please keep the feedback coming on Discord or in a Review (those help us a ton).

Update 0.65 Animal Taming
This weeks update has a heavy focus on animals. Three new animals have been added as well as a few new mechanics surrounding animals have been added.
Animal Taming
You can now capture animals and have them do basic jobs for you! Such as attacking and moving items around. When you capture a creature and place them in your pasture they will then be your friend for a time! Overtime they will become more and more wild. You can keep them tamed by building a food trough for them to eat from. They will go to eat from there and regain 'tamedness'. But wait you say. The food trough was for animal breeding before!? We have added a new building 'rancher' that will function as the food trough did before for animal breeding. an army of squirrels killing a cow
New Animals
In the sprit of new animal mechanics we have added three new animals. Bison, Moose and Squirrel. Bison Appear in the normal environment and moose will appear in the forest and snow environment. Squirrels are just everywhere.
UI tweaks
with the addition of animal taming we have added an animal tab to the survivors view. You can track any animals you have tamed and your settlement and see what they are up to and how they are doing.
Final thoughts
As usual thanks for the support and feedback! Keep letting us know how we are doing so we can improve by joining our Discord, here on the steam forums or by leaving us a review.
