Republique VR is now FREE for all Republique owners!
Hi everyone,
Paul from Camouflaj here with an important announcement! As you may already be aware, Republique VR debuted on Oculus Go in 2018, and headed to the Oculus Rift + Quest stores in 2019. Since then, we've been asked more than a few times whether we intend to release it on Steam.
Well, I've got some great news: not only is Republique VR now available on Steam, but you can download it for FREE with the purchase of Republique. If you already own Republique, you now have access to Republique VR at no cost, as well.
Best of all: you won't find this deal anywhere but right here on Steam! We felt like this was the proper way to thank our Steam fans, both for their support over the years, and for their patience as we worked with our incredibly talented development partners at Darkwind Media on a Steam release.
So whether you're a first-time Republique player, or a long-time fan looking for an excuse to head back to the world of Metamorphosis, we sincerely hope you enjoy our VR reimagining of Republique, which contains a host of new collectibles, performance enhancements and bug fixes, and a host of other content rebuilt purposefully for VR.
Thanks so much for making the journey with us.
- Paul and the Camouflaj Team
Republique Fall 2018 Update: Now Live!
Hey Everyone,
Camouflaj is back with a massive new update for République! We listened to our players and have incorporated many exciting new features and countless fixes into our five-episode stealth saga. We’re also dropping the base price down to $9.99!
About those features and fixes. Let’s get into it:
GAMEPAD SUPPORT Our most requested feature by far. By plugging in a controller the game essentially shifts to “PS4 Mode” which allows the player to directly control Hope like you would a survival horror game.
NEW GAME MODES VIA COSTUMES Previously exclusive to PS4, we have not only added costumes to the game but they fundamentally change how the game plays:
•Runner Costume: An ultra-fast Hope with a stopwatch embedded in the game to record playtimes
•Prizrak Costume: Unlimited Taser shots make blasting through République a cinch
•Student Costume: For seasoned République players only
o Disables auto-saving
o Limited VHS tapes (like ink ribbons) required to save
Tapes are located randomly
Insert a tape at a Beast Terminal to save
o Random weapon and item drops
UNITY UPGRADE We’ve updated République to the most stable version of Unity yet, which means better performance and improved lighting.
THOUSANDS OF FIXES The team went back and scrubbed through the entire code to make countless improvements to collision, AI and usability. This is the best (and cleanest!) version of République yet.
JAPANESE LANGUAGE SUPPORT One of the most-requested localizations of République is now finally available!
If you haven't yet picked up République, there's never been a better time! A heartfelt thanks are due to our development partners at Darkwind Media for making this incredible update possible - the game shines like never before, and it's in large part thanks to them.
So, enjoy the game...and Watch Your Step.
Episode 5: Terminus Patch Notes and a Special Message from the Team
At long last, République: Episode 5: Terminus is finally here! All of us at Camouflaj are anxious to finally release the fifth and final chapter of République. To all of you who waited patiently for the series conclusion, we deeply appreciate your patience and support. The team here at Camouflaj put our hearts and souls into this epic final episode -- we hope you agree that it was worth the wait.
Just as we did with previous episodes, Episode 5: Terminus is not just an additional chapter but it comes with thousands of fixes and enhancements. Here’s a breakdown of the major changes we made in addition to adding the fifth episode:
● Improved performance, crash frequency, and optimized framerate for lower-end devices
● Resolved issue where Hope falls out of the game world on some machines with AMD graphics cards
● Fixed issues regarding Hope’s trouble retrieving the EP3 cassette at beginning of episode, near desk in Reception Area
● Unity default typeface no longer appears by default in certain prefabs (English alphabet only)
● Improved and revised navigation, pathfinding, and collision in Episode 1-3
● Improved camera rotation limits and view in all episodes
● UI and pop-up improvements in all episodes
● Updated 2D art for some scannable items in Episode 1-3
In addition to the upgrades we’ve made, here is some of the new stuff you can expect in Episode 5 (without spoiling too much):
● Hostile Cameras: These new security cameras scattered throughout the game world will scan Hope and alert guards to her presence. Players can only inhabit them for a limited time, adding a neat layer of complexity to the gameplay loop.
● Branching Paths: This is something we’ve kept close to the vest for a long time: EP5 has branching paths that change the course of the episode based on a decision you make early on. We don’t want to reveal too much, but this is a huge addition that greatly expands the content offered in Episode 5, offering a nice incentive to play through the campaign again.
● A New Metamorphosis: Players are returning to the world of some previous episodes, but will find it looking and feeling much differently than before. You’re going to see new areas, meet new enemies, and forge some interesting alliances…
● We want to say more, but it’s better if you to experience it for yourself!
When you’re done with the game, I encourage you to check out our final installment of The Making of République (available now in the Deluxe Edition), and take a look back on the production of this massive, four year endeavor. We’ve prided ourselves on giving you a window into our world by providing open and honest in-game developer commentary tracks, and these video documentaries are an extension of that. You might even see some old footage from back when we were younger, healthier, and less sleepy.
Finally, we want to give a shout out to composer Zinc Lemone for his work on Episode 5’s soundtrack (also included with the Deluxe Edition.) I’ve had some standout favorite tracks in previous episodes, but EP5’s soundtrack in simply incredible from start to finish. (“Loose Change” is the *JAM* y’all.)
Watching Episode 5’s final moments come to life this past year has been bittersweet. It’s hard to believe that we are finally at the finish line after first announcing the game back in 2012. We owe a lot to our initial Kickstarter backers, our publishing friends at GungHo Online Entertainment, and our stellar voiceover cast including Rena Strober, Jennifer Hale, David Hayter, Dwight Schultz, and Khary Payton. It’s not an exaggeration to say that République is the product of thousands of people coming together and making it a reality.
Thank you all, from the bottom of our hearts. It’s been an incredible journey.
- Camouflaj

Episode 4 is officially live!
Republique fans, REJOICE (and update) today!
God's Acre may just prove to be our most exciting episode yet.
Aside from being the next chapter in Hope's story, this update also includes slick new features such as:
- A new "nemesis"
- Huge environments and interactive puzzles
- New collectible types
- Shocking story revelations
- And more!
Enjoy today, and as always, keep Hope alive.
Republique Episode 4 coming 12/17!
Sorry for the wait, but we think it will be worth it! Republique Episode 4 will be released on Steam on December 17th. If you haven't seen the previews and video footage released today, check out the coverage on Polygon, IGN, and elsewhere!
Episode 4 is a huge departure from previous episodes. The team at Camouflaj spent months rethinking our approach to stealth gameplay in the series, to bring our fans a survival horror tinged experience unlike anything you've seen from Camouflaj so far. It's also our first episode built from the ground up in Unity 5, guaranteeing Republique has never looked better. The story in Episode 4 will contain some interesting new characters, startling revelations, and a tension filled climax that will (hopefully) leave players even more anxious for the game's conclusion, when Episode 5 is released in Early 2016.
Episode 4 has been a long time coming, and we're so thrilled to finally be able to share it with you. You've got six days to get your bodies ready...stay tuned for the trailer!
