Our day one patch is out, fixing a crash and locking-event that could happen with the help manual in-game. We believe this was a regression bug. The fixed version of the game is 1.0.4a.
With that done, I'm out for the day to celebrate! I'll see you all soon, and as always, whether it be bug fixes, tweaks, questions, feedback or any other type of communication, it's a pleasure to talk with you.
Day-One Patch
We had hoped to avoid this, but we also realized with our limited testing team that missing some bugs was going to be inevitable.
One of our kind players (thank you Toad!) has informed us of a help manual bug/crash. I am having some difficulty reproducing the crash, but I have encountered a bug where the full help manual does not exit when it should. We're looking into the matter now, and hope to have a fix within the next 24 hours.
Vale of Myth is now Released!
Hey everyone, it gives me great pleasure to announce that Vale of Myth is now publicly released! As stated before, Vale of Myth is 20% off for one week starting today in celebration of our launch. I hope you enjoy the game.
Those who have supported us the longest have the first chances to get the game. I want to offer this as a thank you for all of your support over the months and years. Our big PR campaign only goes live this coming Tuesday.
It is my hope that you will not need a refund, but on the off-case you do, you can rest assured that we are completely in support of Steam's policies on the matter.
If you encounter any technical issues, please post in our forums, even if you choose not to continue playing our game. Your post might help us improve the play experience of other players!
New Depots - Potential Empty www Folder Issue
Hey everyone, as part of working to solve the issue with x86 builds of the game crashing (x64 builds work just fine), our depot setup has been configured so that different architectures of nw.js and Greenworks are installed. We noticed during testing that our www folders were temporarily empty (it took a few tries to get the new depot setup working correctly).
Demo and game owners should only receive the latest build of the game, where the new depot setup is working correctly, and the www folder contents are all present. If however, you do experience this bug, please let us know and we will get you up and running as soon as possible.
End of September Release Date
I'm really sorry guys, but I've kept running into problems getting Vale of Myth out this week. My other job has placed a big deadline on me this week (last minute notice, naturally), and this has really impacted the hours I need to put into last-minute project tweaking.
We've found a PR company to work with and negotiated a price and service, but they can't work for us until next week.
Finally, I was made aware (thank you!) of a bug affecting users with x86 architectures (32-bit operating systems). It turns out all my beta-testers were running x64 architectures (64-bit operating systems), and as a result this issue had not been identified. After evaluation, this bug is not in the application itself, nor in depot configurations, but in a wrapper between the application and the Steamworks services. This is definitely fixable, but I need time to contact a few helpers to figure this bug out and fix it.
I had fully intended to release this Friday, but I can't responsibly release it with my current workload. I've been working sixteen hour days, and frankly, that isn't enough to get everything done right now. One more week gives me the time I need to finish that project deadline, establish the PR work, and fix the remaining reported bugs before release.
This pushes the release back to the originally proposed September 29th at 1:00pm MST. I'm sorry smjjames, I really wanted to get this out early for you, but life just isn't cooperating with me!
Vale of Myth release is now finalized for next Friday (September 29th) at 1:00pm MST. The release date is being currently set in Steamworks, and all communication with PR agents, reviewers, and Let's Players will be updated to reflect the new release date. There will not be any further changes to the release date, I promise.
Thank You For 200 Demo Downloads!
The demo for Vale of Myth has just passed 200 downloads! Thank you so much for all the interest. If you like the demo, please consider sharing it with your friends. I'd love to share Vale of Myth with many people.
Map DLC Complete and Press Update
Hey everyone! Our free map DLC is finally finished - I had to do every variant of each map individually; once to take the map-shot and once to optimize the map-shot, so I hope everyone likes the results.
The DLC is available here:

In regards our press situation, one of the keys sent to the press has been activated, and that's one more than none. I'm hoping more keys will be activated soon and I'm looking forward to hearing back! I have now reached out to:

Tutorial Cancel Handling Quickfix Live
Hey everyone! Thanks again to smjjames for this one:
-Pressing esc (or any key for 'cancel') while a tutorial popup was open resulted in a crash. This was my mistake - there was a discrepancy in my code for handling cancel events. It was older code that hadn't been updated to the final version of the script.
The crash is now fixed - pressing cancel now causes the popup to close, as originally intended.
Patch Notes v1.0.3b (demo and full)
v1.0.3b for Demo and full versions of Vale of Myth are now live!
Outstanding issues:
-The keyboard rebinding issue for help/dash is still being examined.
-The Honorary Venitian title activating when conditions are not met is still being examined. I've quadruple-checked; there is nothing in Adela's demo script which could cause this to happen.
Changes:
-Bestiary slowdown should be resolved; bestiary entries no longer show the battle background (there was a plugin issue causing slowdown here) and are no longer animated. If this doesn't fix the problem, then the issue is likely a pipeline problem.
-All three clipping errors posted by smjjames are fixed.
-Chest count for Toledo Mines (also reported by smjjames) is fixed.
-Minor changes to attribute names and to keyboard config menu to be more clear.
Special thanks to smjjames for bringing most of these issues to our attention! He's a cool guy.
Thank You for 100 Downloads
Thank you everyone for helping us reach the 100 download milestone! In particular, I'd like to thank our fans in Finland and the United States, who together make up 79 of the demo downloads.
