The Great North Expansion:

  • The Great North biome is now over twice its original size.

Explore Points of Interest:

  • The Valley of Giants and The Great North feature fossils, decaying buildings, train tracks, and arctic outposts. Some of these locations can be rummaged through for rare collectibles.

Ultra Rare Collectibles:

  • Collect rare items to craft modern conveniences like a refrigerator and heater.




Unlocking New Horizons:

  • Crafting key statues on pedestals near teleporters is now required to unlock levels.
  • Statue recipes unlock in the survival crafting menu post Stone of Knowledge absorption.

Survival Gets Nutritious:

  • Introducing a nutrition system.
  • Monitor protein, fat, and carbohydrate levels to avoid malnutrition.
  • New recipes including baked beans, rendered fat, and fatty stew.

Composting Advancements:

  • Composter mechanic lets players create compost overnight.
  • More organic items can be added to the composter.




Craftable Comfort:

  • Sleeping bag added to craftable items.
  • Provides a safer and healthier place to rest in a base earlier in the game.

Solar Heater Innovation:

  • Craftable with ultra rare collectibles.
  • Provides 24/7 heat when turned on in a base.

Luxury Decor Pack:

  • Craftable luxury items including vases, pedestal, console, and a cabinet with 50 storage capacity.




Refrigerator Revamp:

  • Refrigerator operates without requiring ice.

Building Item Retrieval:

  • Players now get back 100% of building items on demolition.
  • Crafting menu items still return 50% until the player levels up.

Sleeping Effects Overhaul:

  • Exaggerated health effects based on bed or shelter type.

Enhanced Navigation:

  • Added a new detailed map with more hints for improved navigation.




Game Rebalancing:

  • Edited food resources, respawn times, and AI spawn rates and locations.
  • Removed bears and added wolves to The Valley of Giants in order to increase AI immersion and balance resource management.
  • Bear pop-up still triggers when sleeping in a basic shelter.
  • Increased the rate of spirit level increase during mediation.

Enhancements & Improvements:

  • Upgraded the main menu, prologue, and epilogue artwork with new story art.
  • Updated water material for better above-water visibility.
  • New textures for UI and pop-up menus for enhanced legibility.
  • Replaced storage chest interaction sound with a less abrasive alternative.
  • Decreased loading times on game load and level load.

Bug Fixes:

  • Resolved collision issues with stairs causing player entrapment.
  • Adjusted collision on multiple craftable furniture pieces.
  • Fixed bug where the UI showed players starting at level one instead of "x" on day one.
  • Beds now craft on triangular floor and foundation pieces.
  • Fixed flickering issues on distant islands especially in the rain.
  • Addressed floating vegetation in The Valley of Giants and rendering issues in The Great North.

Welcome to Paradise

The Paradise Update is now available!



To celebrate the new update, Retreat to Enen will be 50% off starting 1 PM EDT today through November 8th! This update brings a series of significant technical enhancements and gameplay refinements. Check out the patch notes below for a detailed breakdown of the changes.



Hypothermia Prevention Enhancement:

  • Enabled players to use the snowsuit for hypothermia prevention in non-arctic biomes and at any time of day.
  • Integrated this feature into gameplay mechanics.

New Biome Integration:

  • Added a new biome that unlocks after completing the main story.
  • Functionality to enable this biome upon story completion.

Nighttime Bear Threat:

  • Added a chance of a night-time bear attack if players sleep outside of a shelter in the redwoods biome.
  • Merged this gameplay feature with the codebase.



Building System Expansion:

  • Added a yurt structure to the building system.
  • Incorporated yurt-related code and assets into the repository.

Indoor Staircase Inclusion:

  • Added a new indoor staircase option to the building system.
  • Integrated staircase functionality into the repository.



Ammunition Management:

  • Arrows now break upon being fired.
  • Included this functionality within the gameplay mechanics.

Spirit Mechanic Optimization:

  • Modified the spirit mechanic to disable quantum control only when it reaches zero.
  • Implemented logic to enforce this new mechanic.

Ruin Mechanic Enhancement:

  • Replaced guided meditations with the absorption of Stones of Knowledge.
  • Integrated Stone of Knowledge functionality into the game's logic.



Spear Animation Refinement:

  • Updated the spear animation for quicker strikes.
  • Incorporated the optimized animation into the repository.

Death Animation Overhaul:

  • Added a new death animation for enhanced realism.
  • Integrated the new death animation into the game's asset pipeline.



Foliage Handling Improvement:

  • Implemented a mechanism for smaller foliage to despawn when crafting survival items on top of them.
  • Integrated this logic into the game codebase.

HUD Improvement:

  • Resolved a bug related to overlapping screens in the HUD.
  • Updated the HUD codebase to address this issue.

Loading Performance Optimization:

  • Improved loading performance across the game.
  • Integrated performance optimizations into the repository.

Patch Notes v1.0.9

Hey everyone!
We've heard from you all that there were a few bugs introduced with our latest patch. We've fixed some of those issues in this new one. Definitely let us know if you encounter anything else. Don't forget to leave a review here on Steam letting us know your thoughts on the game! Now onto the fixes...

Fixes:



  • Memory/Performance issues caused by dropped inventory items that were duplicating when you left a cave and then returned.
  • You are now able to enter the caves that you may not have been able to previously unless you were closer than when the text prompts were discovered.

We've been working on this big patch for you all over the past couple weeks and are very excited to finally bring it to you all!

Fixes/Additions:



  • Added brand new large cave systems to each biome.
  • Added new ultra rare items to collect.
  • Added new common collectibles.
  • Updated the AI to be faster and more intuitive.
  • Added a damage text prompt to AI.
  • Updated the map to include the cave entrances.
  • Added VFX to Enen and the redwoods that make the environment feel more alive.

Hey everyone!
It's been a little bit since our last patch, but today we're bringing yall a big patch to make up for it!   • Added color coded flag icons.
  • Added 13 new base building pieces in 3 new styles and updated the floor strip model.
  • Added 8 new craftable items including 5 paintings, a firewood rack for wood storage, an
  • area rug, compost bin, and the statue of courage.
  • Added a mechanic that highlights collectible items when your spirit is at a higher
  • threshold.
  • Added two new rare stones and ability upgrades.
  • Added a new resource to collect.
  • Added 12 new loot chests.
  • Adjusted the meditation mechanic so that health, hunger and thirst do not drain while
  • meditating.
  • Changed the demolition mechanic so that all items are drained straight into inventory
  • without the explosion mechanic.
  • Added additional tutorial text prompts.
  • Added descriptive text pop ups to all collectable items, crafting, and crafting items.
  • Adjusted multiple variables to better balance the gameplay experience.

  • Fixed an issue where the crab pot was not working for some players.
  • Fixed an issue where corner roof pieces would not craft over floor strips.
  • Fixed an issue where meat was not rotting in storage containers.
  • Fixed an issue where demolishing the snow pod was giving full oysters back.
  • Fixed an issue where dropped oyster shells are sometimes rendered with meat.
  • Fixed an issue where items were harvesting no yield if inventory was full.
  • Fixed an issue where “ruins activated” was triggering after completing all 9 ruins.
  • Optimized performance of base building.
  • Fixed an issue where players were getting stuck in large trees in The Great North.
  • Added a new sun for better sun visibility.

Hey everyone!
We've implemented some more of the awesome feedback you all of been sending to us since launch. We greatly appreciate everyones investment and excitement for the game! Today's biggest update: we've added a map!! We know this has been like the #1 request since launch and we're happy to finally add it for you. We've got some other exciting changes like an updated ending to the game and a new statue you can build from rare gems.

Additions/Fixes:



  • Added a map that the player can reference to get a general idea of where the ruins are.
  • Added loot chests to the map.
  • Updated the ending of the game so that it spits you back out at the beginning teleporter instead of the main menu.
  • Fixed an issue where the canister was draining the flask when used
  • Fixed an issue where planters would spawn a default cube when they do not have anything planted in them.
  • Added a toggle to turn on and off flag icons
  • Reduced the rate that fires burn by 30%
  • Fixed an issue where pinned recipes were not updating
  • Added multilayered text prompts to bottom left of screen when animals were harvested that provide more than one ingredient.
  • Added 3 rare stones to the game. One in each map. They can be found in one lootchest in each map. The Earth stone on enen decreases the rate your spirit drops by 20%. The Heart stone in the valley of giants decreases the rate your health drops by 20%. The Fire stone in the great north gives you back 100% of your loot when you demolish items.
  • Added a statue you can build with the rare gemstones. It unlocks after the lastmeditation is complete.
  • Added large driftwood logs to maps along the edge of bodies of water. They can be harvested with quantum control for a large yield of sticks.
  • Added large rocks you can demolish for a large yield of rocks

Fixes and Changes



  • Fixed an issue where the day night cycle was too fast in some saves. The bug fix adds about 10 minutes of daylight to most player’s games.
  • Balanced gameplay by lowering the drain rate on hunger and spirit.
  • Fixed a bug where small smoked meats were as nutritious as large smoked meats.
  • Fixed an issue where walls, doorways, windows and railings were not snapping to triangular foundation pieces properly.
  • Added a scrambled egg to the recipe menu.
