RetroGunX Gets Its Own Original Soundtrack!

Happy New Year Everyone!

So, I recently ran into an issue with a Royalty Free track I bought for RetroGunX, essentially the main menu track and gameplay music. I since contacted the artist and enquired if they could supply me with costs for me to license some of their other tracks for RetroGunX, or if they would be interested in composing custom tracks for RetroGunX which I would pay for. Their reply was to the effect that only the loops in the bundle were Royalty Free, not the actual track, and so I was forced to remove the track from the game. All music in the latest update (version 0.1.4.d) is temporarily muted for now, but next week I’ll post another update with the new audio track.

So I’ve made contact with a brilliant sound design studio called Audio Militia, that will be composing an original custom soundtrack for RetroGunX! The first track will be done next week, with more tracks to follow in the coming weeks and months as budget allows.

I’ve been forced to take a step back these last 2 months to focus on some client work, but I’m eager to dive back into development of RetroGunX and take it to the next level! This is going to be an exciting year ahead for RetroGunX!

Thank you all for your support and patience! Game on!

Cheers,
Brent

Update v0.1.4.c

Hi everyone!

Thanks for being so patient!

As mentioned in the last announcement, when we updated our development software some bugs were introduced that forced us to temporarily rollback the game to the previous stable release. I'm pleased to announce that everything should be back up running now :)

If any of you do find any errors or bugs, please do let us know and we'll fix them ASAP!

We'll now get back to focusing on adding more content. Whoohoo!

Cheers, and enjoy!

Temporary Rollback to 0.1.3.a

Hey guys,

In upgrading my Unity project to 2017.2 just before the RetroGunX 0.1.4 update, I've noticed that quite a few weird bugs and glitches had crept in. Some scrips were not executing as they did before causing a really buggy experience.

I've rolled the game back to version 0.1.3.a for now, so you guys can enjoy the game as it should be played for now. I'm working on a fix urgently and will test everything thoroughly before the next update.

Sorry about that.

Cheers.

Critical Update to version 0.1.4.a

Hi All,

A HUGE thank you to MANTRONIX for reporting a critical bug that crept into the latest build!

There was a small, but critical bug that prevented the guns from firing on the instructions menu. This prevented anyone from being able to play the game.

I've just uploaded a new build (v 0.1.4.a), which appears to have fixed the problem on my side.

Please do let me know if any of you are having any issues. Feel free to drop me a mail, so I can be alerted to any issues that arise and fix them ASAP!

Mail me directly at : info@appsbybrats.com

Cheers!

Update v0.1.4 ADDS OCULUS RIFT SUPPORT!

Hi all, sorry for the delay since the last update. We've been working hard to support the Oculus Rift, and have made a few tweaks and bug fixes along the way.

So what's new?

- Oculus Rift is now officially supported! Haptic feedback has not yet been implemented, but we'll look at that for a future update.
- Increased the default reload speed of the Rail Gun.
- Increased the default reload speed of the Rocket Launcher.
- The "Energy" bar for each weapon has moved to appear jusr above the hand. Some gamers reported they were unaware of the reload bar in its previous location. (Please let me know if you like it where it is now)
- When power-ups are collected, the slow-mo effect is now a bit faster and the powerup title is now displayed for only half the time.
- Removed the delay between the Helicopters' sub-waves. Helicopters keep coming until the wave ends.
- Removed the delay between the Bombers' sub-waves. Bombers keep coming until the wave ends.
- Bombers have more health.
- Bombers drop more bombs depending on the difficulty level.
- The Red Skull intro has been sped up.
- Fixed a few bugs that caused various issues.

Please let me know if you find any issues with the game, or have any suggestions to make it better :)

Cheers,
Brent

Update v0.1.3a has just been released!!

Firstly, a huge thankyou to Rrajicard funding some bugs. They are now squashed! :)

- Fixed "Game Menu" bug, where weapons could be displayed again after you die and hide the game menu.
- The dreaded Star wave: Adjusted the number of the stars to 10. Also fixed a bug where stars would keep popping out indefinitely.
- UPGRADE screen: It is now easier to see how many tokens you have left.
- The VR Keyboard has been fixed. It would sometimes cause a weird flipping effect, depending on where you're standing.

Please report all bugs, so I can handle them ASAP!

Enjoy!

Update v0.1.3 has just been released!!

So what's new?

- The new weapon is a... RAIL GUN!
- The Rocket Launcher tracking is now fixed!
- All weapon ammo is now unlimited :)
- All weapons now have a reload bar below the hand (Please do give me feedback on the position of this reload bar. Whether to like it or should be elsewhere).
- Removed all ammo power-ups.
- Fixed the highlight bar length on the high score board.

Please let me know if you find any bugs, or know of anything that can make RetroGunX even better!

Cheers,
Brent

Update v0.1.2a - Improved Game Difficulty Balance

In a continued effort to ensure the game is properly balanced, this minor update corrects the following:

- Wave 6: Those infamous bombs have been adjusted. There are now fewer bombs and they are spaced further apart. This wave is also moved become wave 9 now.
- Earn tokens FASTER! Now earn tokens for every 3 500 points, instead off every 10 000 points.
- The High Score Board has been adjusted with some lower scores, to make it easier to get onto the board. (Applicable to new installations of the game).
- All enemy bullets are a bit slower, to give time to dodge them.
- The "Flower Bot" wave (Pink and blue flowers), are now in front of you, instead of being 360 degrees around you.

Thank you for sending me your feedback to help make RetroGunX even better!

Please let me know if your think of any further balancing issues that should be addressed, or if you think of anything that could improve the gameplay for all :)

Cheers,
Brent

Upcoming Update v0.1.3

Upcoming update to version 0.1.3 (ETA 2 weeks)

- A shiny, NEW WEAPON is coming!
- The Rocket Launcher guide bug will be addressed. Currently if a Rocket Launcher is held in each hand, the tracking will not work.
- ALL weapon ammo will be unlimited!
- A simple reload bar will fill up when a weapon is not in use.
- The reload will be fairly slow, to encourage the use of other weapons
- Minor visual enhancements will be added to the "UPGRADE" Menu.

As always, please do let us know if you have any issues, or if there is something you simply do not like about RetroGunX. We are very open to ideas and passionate about making this a cool and exciting game.

Cheers,
Brent

Firstly, a BIG thank you to Bluetac for bringing a serious bug on wave 6 to our attention! The bug made it practically impossible to pass this wave, but it has now been fixed!

Release Notes:
- Fixed Wave 6 difficulty bug. (Frequency of bomb drops has changed, as well as health of bombs).
- You can now earn tokens depending on your score.
- The "UPGRADE" section is now opened on the main menu. (Upgrade and buy new weapons here).
- All weapons can be upgraded to level 10.
- The Machine Gun and Rocket Launcher are now locked by default.
- Code has been optimized.
- The High Score Board is now populated with default names and scores, so it doesn't feel empty. (You will have to clear your game cache to see these pre-populated scores)

Happy gunning :)
