Return to Nangrim

Feature Reveal Part 22 - Spirit Guide

Greetings adventurers, to another Feature Reveal!

When you are lost in the abandoned mountain city of Nangrim or can't find your way back to known terrain in the depth of the mines you can rely on your dwarven ancestry in form of a

SPIRIT GUIDE

Your presence in Nangrim has awoken benevolent spirits. Sometimes a voice in your head, so subtle you could mistake it with your own thoughts, gives you important hint on how to survive during your explorations. At other times a full-blown spirit appears in front of you as a ghost with a face and a name.
After an exhausting day, of solving mysterious dwarven riddles you rest on the second story of an old outpost tower. In your dreams, a figure appears and warns you about approaching danger. As you snap out of your dream, sure enough, you hear the footsteps of a creature echoing underneath your current hiding spot.

Feature Reveal Part 21 - Light torch

Greetings adventurers, to another Feature Reveal!

Whether to remember which path you've already uncovered or to have both hands available in the wet darkness of the mountains to craft, read books, and take notes, or even for your own well-being and safety, you can

LIGHT TORCHES

As you cross the threshold the stone gate slams shut. The darkness surrounds you and your eyes try to adjust, however, every light source is suffocated at that moment. You hesitate at first, but then decide that it is your only choice to take your torch out, and set it alight. Unsure of the danger you might be putting yourself in, as the torchlight will draw great attention and might put you right in the enemy's sight, you set your torch alight. The warm light of the fire not only relieves your eyes from painfully trying to identify something in the dark but also you recognize more torches fixed to the walls. As you enkindle these, you feel your fear ebb and the tiniest spark of hope begins to glow.

READ BOOKS

There isn’t always time to sit and look through all the objects you found while exploring, that’s a fact when trying to survive in a place as hostile as the one you’ve found yourself in. However, these moments do arrive, and it’s always nice to sit by a fire, take out a few of the books you’ve found, and enjoy some literature in peace.

Feature Reveal Part 19 - Solve Puzzles

Greetings adventurers, to another Feature Reveal!

You have mastered the art of crafting, at least as far as constructing that ladder goes, and thanks to your recently acquired ability to take notes, you can always go back and grab it. Next up, however, you'll have to use your wits to

SOLVE PUZZLES

After all the learning, the exploring, and the discovering of new and grand places, what better way to put this knowledge to use by resolving ancient puzzles to help you find out more about your adventures? Feature Reveal Part 18 - Take Notes

Greetings adventurers, to another Feature Reveal!

Navigating your way through the depths of the Nimbor mountains is no easy task. To remember where you left things you will be equipped with the ability to

TAKE NOTES

You just constructed a ladder to open a door that had its keyhole at an unreachable height. Luckily, you had carefully inspected the last chamber and found a sketch of how to build one such. After some experimenting, you finally constructed one stable enough to carry your admirable dwarven physique. However, now, that the door is open, the ladder has no more use. Deconstructing would return less valuable resources and cost time, and it's too unwieldy to carry along, however, it may be useful in the future. Therefore, you decide it’s better to draw a map in your book. Now you can mark down where you put or left which object, in case you'd need to return for them.

LEARN RUNES

As you walk up a long staircase you find a strange inscription on one of the steps, it looks familiar but you can’t quite make sense of it right away. You’ve already seen some of these runes, and you know their meaning, but a couple of the others are new. You sit down to concentrate and try to decipher the new runes and to make sense of the whole phrase. It takes some time but you manage to do it. Wait! Is this the clue to the locked door you recently weren't able to open?

How dwarves use to store things

Inventory Management

Another component test has been released to the Players Guild. After forging lots of exciting stuff, these things need to be stored somewhere, so here comes the Inventory Management component! Find and combine things...

There's also a new weekly challenge: Find the Stonebeard statue with the golden key. Once found, you can trade a screenshot of the statue for 250 Aruìn coin in the Discord server!

What is the Players Guild?

We want to let a wide variety of players from both sides of the spectrum of our target audience (from puzzle dwarves to RPG slasher from the PC Masterrace) test and evaluate mechanics: democratizing the development of a game to some extent. Some mechanics will mature and evolve through the guild and make it into the game, and some will be trashed. Some elements will become optional and land in the settings as a checkbox, and some will be removed.

If you are blessed with a high level of creativity, you want to be part of an experimental game dev approach, and, of course, your frustration threshold is relatively high; the Players Guild is for you.

Apply for the Guild now!

Let's dig a little deeper..

Greetings adventurers!

We've got you covered with crafting - especially forging. But where do you get all these resources from? Well, partly from

SMELTING

Forging gets you new weapons and items - but how should you forge without metal? Yes, you might find some ingots lying around, but a true master blacksmith also knows how to smelt his own. How you get these ores is another story, but once you have them, head straight to the forge, smelt that ore into ingots and create amazing things out of it!

Want to smelt and craft for yourself? Apply for the Players Guild now! .

Feature Reveal Part 15 - Crafting

Greetings adventurers, to another Feature Reveal!

All these resources you have gathered, all these items found, it is time to turn them into something more useful by

CRAFTING

All those different metals, looking older than you are and all those creatures trying to kill you. Now that you've discovered one of Nangrims forges, you might proof yourself worthy; forge your first weapon with the aid of that parchment you found recently. But no one is born a master: discover the properties of different types of wood and metal and train yourself. Maybe you will be the one forging the next legendary weapon?
