THE MAGISTER – NEW NERDOOK GAME IS OUT NOW!
It's sleuthin' and deducin' time! The Magister - the new game from Reverse Crawl developer, Nerdook - has finally arrived and there's a murder to solve in Silverhurst! Step into the shoes of a Magister, gather clues, discover motives, and unmask the guilty culprit! Build a deck and use a vast array of cards to fight or negotiate!


  • Randomly generated murder-mystery means every playthrough is different!
  • Use physical, weapon, and magic cards to overpower enemies in battle
  • Master 'Tactical Diplomacy' with conversation cards for peaceful outcomes
  • Variety of Magisters to play as, each with their own specialties and flaws
  • Recruit an ally to help, including a cat or dog companion to fight alongside you

Wanted to let you all know that The Magister, the new game from Reverse Crawl developer Nerdook, now has a release date – the murder-mystery card battler will launch September 2nd on Steam (and Nintendo Switch, and also for Xbox One on Sept 3rd)! Before the full game launches, we're also going to be releasing The Magister: The First Two Days to give you a chance to sample the action and start your investigation early. As the name suggests, it will include the first two days of the randomly-generated whodunnit adventure (the full game takes place over 14 days). We'll provide an update when it's available, but rest assured that it will be available to download from Steam for free sometime before September 2nd.

The Magister demo – play the new game from the Reverse Crawl dev!
I shared the news with you recently that Reverse Crawl developer Nerdook is working on a new game: a murder-mystery RPG card-battler called The Magister. Well, I'm delighted to say you can now try a demo of The Magister by downloading it from the game’s Steam page: download the demo here!

The demo has been released as part of the Steam Game Festival and it’s the first time The Magister has been publicly playable anywhere! It’s a WORLD PREMIERE!




In the demo you can...

  • Play through the first two days of the murder investigation
  • Sample the card-based battling and tactical diplomacy
  • See how different combinations of traits define your Magister and the overall experience
  • Get acquainted with the places and people of Silverhurst


The demo will only be available for the duration of the Game Festival i.e. it will be removed on Monday 22nd June at 10AM PDT, so be sure to download and play it before then.

Monster Slayers is just a fews days away - it launches this Thursday, 23 March! - so now feels like a good time to deliver some news about discounts.

There will be a 10% discount on all purchases of Monster Slayers before 31 March. In addition, and as a thank you to Nerdook fans, there will be an extra 23% discount for anyone who owns either of the developer's previous games - Vertical Drop Heroes and Reverse Crawl.

Hello everyone

Wanted to let you all know that Monster Slayers - a new game from Reverse Crawl developer Nerdook - will launch on Steam March 23rd. It's a roguelike card-based battler, inspired by Peter Whalen's Dream Quest.

Feel free to browse the game page or watch the new trailer for a better idea of what to expect (but, hey, it's a Nerdook game, so you should already have a good idea of what it'll be like - easy to get into, plenty of depth, dangerously addictive, and a LOT of fun).
