Welcome new players and Dev Updates
Hey everyone, Ben here.
I wanna take a brief second to give a warm welcome to everyone who got the game through the Humble Choice bundle of April 2023, we are happy to have you be part of our community! π We also recommend immediatly switching to the Beta Branch once you start playing the game, it includes a lot of improvements, rebalancing, tweaks and even some new things, that are not in the default branch. =D
We are currently working on a massive, game changing 2.0 Update, which will overhaul a lot of aspects of the game and add a ton of new content to it as well. If you have any feedback/bug reports regarding the game you'd want us to address in 2.0 feel free to either put it in our Discord were I am probably the most active, or in the Steam Forums. I can't promise that we can address everything, but we try to take everything into account. =D
On that note, I know I have been a bit quiet here on Steam when it comes to Dev Updates and that is because we are currently preparing a lot of cool stuff for this years "Revitaversary" which is gonna take place on the 21st of April. We got a bunch of really, really cool things to announce, especially regarding 2.0 so you really don't wanna miss it. I'll be posting more information regarding the event once we get a bit closer, so keep your eyes open.
And that is it for today. A bit shorter than usual, but I felt like these points were important to bring up, especially with the games playerbase now having almost doubled since the humble choice dropped yesterday. We just released two small hotfix updates for the public and the beta branch. Both are aiming to fix some more annoying, remaining softlocks and major issues, while we are still working away at Revita 2.0 =D

- Added local save file backups that are unaffected by the steam cloud - Reinforced the save system overall to use backups in case a save gets eaten up by the cloud. (These files are updated each time you boot up a save file)

Dev Update | More Reworks and Additions

It is that time again. Time for another dev update!
Yes 2.0 is not dead, quite the opposite! It is bigger and better than ever! If you are following me on Twitter or are in our Discord you have probably already seen me post a lot of wip screenshots and gifs of upcoming additions, reworks, tweaks and all kinds of other stuff, but for those who haven't, I wanted to dive a little deeper into all things 2.0.
First off, while it is taking a lot longer than originally intended, 2.0 is progressing smoothly and is really turning into something worthy of the version number "2.0". With not "just" reworks and rebalances but also a ton of new content to boot. So I hope you can wait just a little longer as we are getting closer and closer to the finish line. Trust me, it will be worth it!
But lets get to the actual meat and potatoes, starting of with the reworked map system!
Not just did the map in the transition between rooms get a nice visual overhaul, it now also gives you a lot more information than previously. Aside from showing you which rooms are locked and need a key to be opened, it also shows you all the special rooms for an area even if you don't have the map relic. The thought process here being, that this will allow for more strategy and planning during runs rather than just either using a key now or hoping that you maybe get a better locked room later on.
Shard Benefits:
Previously, roughly every 5 shard levels you got an additional benefit to your runs. It was always either an increase in relic rarity or the ability to equip an additional ticket for cheaper. However I always felt like that system was a little uninteresting and could have so much more potential, so 2.0 will reintroduce them as "Shard Benefits", giving you even more customizability in regards to how you want to start your runs!
There are a lot of them and they all give you different, minor benefits at the start of each run. Maybe you still want to start with cheaper tickets, or maybe you'd like to start a run with 3 keys instead? The choice is yours!
Dyes:
Speaking of choices and customizability, Revita kid sure looks different here!
2.0 will introduce a new unlockable called Dyes These will allow you to customize your version of Revita Kid even further! Now you can not just change your hat, but also the colours of your outfit!
And they'll even show up on the reworked leaderboards!
Synergies:
Another big system that is getting reworked and also buffed a lot next update, are Synergies.
Not only does every relic belong to a synergy now instead of just a select few, but they also come in two levels, as well as being much stronger and more useful than previously!
The new Gunslinger synergy for example lets you shoot an additional bullet at 50% damage if you carry 3 relics that fit into its synergy and an additional bullet at 100% damage if you carry 5!
Have I mentionend yet that there will also be 25 new synergies, making it twice the amount of synergies than in 1.0?
As you can see, there is a ton of stuff happening with 2.0 and this is just the tip of the iceberg, there is so much more to it. So why not, to end things off, leave you with an additional screenshot and a gif. Happy Holidays everyone and we'll see each other again next year!

The time for the 2.0.0 Beta has come! You might be asking, why 2.0.0 and not 1.1.0? Well, the update got quite big after trying to listen to pretty much every bit of feedback, be it from reviews or the community discord, to a point where a lot of major stuff got entirely overhauled (No worries it should still be just as enjoyable as before, actually, hopefully much more enjoyable!)
Additionally, yes you saw correctly, this is part 1 of the Beta! Part 1 will focus primarily on reworked mechanics, balancing, quality of life, etc, while Part 2, which will drop at some point in the near future, will focus primarily on some new content =)
Please be aware that due to this being a Beta, there might still be a handful of bugs, new things are only localized in english among a few other things, so we heavily recommend backing up your save files. (Save files can be found in appdata/local/Revita/save_n.data with "n" being the number of the save)
To access the beta, right click the game in your steam library, go to properties, betas and then select "community_public",
Since this update changes so many fundementals about the game and we want to make sure everyone likes the changes, we encourage you to either join the Discord to discuss said changes directly with the community and me, or leave your feedback below this post/ on the steam forums, either works. ADDITIONS:
- More Dummies! - The Last Refuge now has a small anvil at the beginning of the area, letting you upgrade your relics one last time - Broken Shields can now appear as pickups, giving 0.5 Shields - Local Save Backups - Added remaining music tracks to the Fools playlist - Speed chests have been added. Defeat an area quickly to get additional rewards - Added Synergy chests. These will always give relics that are part of synergies and with a very high chance relics, that are part of synergies you have already started - Veteran mode. Feel like the game is too easy? Set your difficulty to veteran mode at any time while in the hub. - The Librarians Tasks. As you progress in filling out the journal, you now also get rewarded for hitting certain milestones - Shades have been popping up around the station. The more decorated your station is, the more will appear and sometimes they even carry gifts - New bullet mod visuals - Added a news feed to the titlescreen, letting you stay up to date on all the important things happening in and around the game - 1 New Secret
QUALITY OF LIFE:
- Reduced the amount of time you need to stand in front of the mirror for it to activate - You can now see if you have gotten the reward from beating a shard when selecting shards - Synergies on relic description popups now show how many out of how many relics you need for said synergy - Certain NPCS now have shortened dialogue after speaking to them more than once - The tutorial got an additional room focused on being able to dash longer by pressing down the dash button - The tutorial got some other minor adjustements - The tutorial is now redoable at any point from the station - Added a popup that appears when you unlocked more information for an enemy in the journal - Made enemy attack indicators more obvious - The ticket machine in the hub area now lets you purchase tickets much quicker - The ticket menu now has different sorting options - The ticket menu now lets you pick a random selection of tickets from your inventory to start with, if you don't want to choose yourself - You can now choose whether you wanna use the visuals of a guns golden version, or the normal version - Added a setting that shows your run score on screen at all times - Timed platforms in the ticking towertop now have a clearer indicators as to when they turn off - The zoom in when bosses transition into their second phase isn't as strong anymore
CHANGES:
- Increased average base gun range from 70 pixels to 80 - Reworked the entire procedural enemy room generation, making for vastly more distinct and interesting rooms - Relic chests now let you pick between two relics - Bosses now drop Boss chests, which let you pick between multiple rewards - Bosses are now affected by all status effects - Miniboss are now affected by status effects, the same way bosses are - The chain meter has been drastically overhauled, now only going up to +50% soul gain, but soul gain has been increased by default, in order to shrink the disrapency between veteran and new players - Rebalanced Soul gain - Removed the boss damage cap from all bosses but the final ones - Reworked Relic Rarity system, now called "Offering Bonus" rewarding you with extra relics for spending HP on statues - Songs selected from talking with the Fool now play throughout the entire hub area and even keep playing throughout multiple runs until turned off or changed - Attachment doesn't take effect when collecting a key relic anymore (Specific quest related relics or mementos) - Key relics can't be corrupted or blessed anymore - Adjusted the chance for corrupted enemies to drop an extra soul - Increased average burn damage - Familiars won't start attacking until you attack - Wall collisions of bullets aren't affected by bullet size anymore - The second and third dial on the daily rewards now spin a lot slower - Last Refuge now has 2 additional relic chest rooms - The Lighting setting is back in the game but will be overwritten when getting the blinded curse, be it via curses or local customs - While holding on to Talsiman and collecting a cursed relic will now immediatly remove the curse, without having to pick a curse (meaning you also don't lose Paladins Hammer as easily) - Changed the Secret room indicators slightly and secret walls now have less hp - Piercing bullets can now pierce through miniboss shields - Looping now automatically removes key relics - Gilded Rifts now have a legendary mimic in their statue rooms rather than a rare mimic (Now also giving a guaranteed way to get those mimics for the bestiary) - Boss chests in a gilded rifts contain 4-5 rare relics to choose from - Reworked how legendary relic frequency rates are treated on the backend, making legendary chests more likely to appear in later areas - Enigma, Acceptance and Mother aren't affected by knockback anymore - Increased the limit on the bullet cap setting - The Hero can now appear in all areas properly, rather than just mostly in the first 2 - Prison Keys are not attached to enemies anymore but to areas instead (This might cause some relics which previously weren't unlockable to now be unlocked) - Prison Key prices for common relics are now locked to 150 Soul coins at max - Changed around enemy defeat requirements for the journal. - Certain special rooms can't appear in the first area anymore. - Shards gotten from Regret now increase your max shard by 5, allowing for more flexibility in climbing shards - You can now choose whether or not to use your relic hammers or not - Recycling relics will now give relic hammers depending on the relic rarity (1 per common, 2 per rare, and 3 per legendary) - Legendary relics now only cost 1.5 max hp to upgrade on level 1 - Relic hammers needed to upgrade now increase with the max hp upgrade cost (from 1 to 4) - Beating a shard 30 or higher run will now give you an alt hat as a reward if you have unlocked everything else from the regret fight - Tweaked pickup chances - While in dailies or weeklies, pickup preferences are now deactivated, meaning no matter how many keys, hp or shields you have, unless you have specific relics, their spawn chances are the same - Updated the tutorial Enigma fight to use all of Enigmas moves after a certain point - Crows won't fly away after picking a relic from the statue anymore - Stat ui display isn't capped anymore - Buffed Coin rewards from dailies and weeklies - Changed the reward wheels in dailies. The first wheel now spins quite a bit faster, while the last one is now very slow. Additionally, all wheels have the same reward, meaning you can even get higher level rewards on earlier wheels. - Bounty tickets now add their modifiers on top of your run, rather than replacing it, allowing you to use them on any shard or even allowing you to stack them - Reworked the cat room, not costing a key anymore to enter and letting you choose which value to increase and which to decrease - Adjusted the giants room to the new chest rework, now giving you a choice of 3 relics, rather than 2 - The extra special room granted by the cartographer npc now won't require a key anymore - Observatory rooms are now unlocked as soon as you make it beyond the gazing grove, compared to being tied to a blueprint - Challenge rooms are now unlocked by default - Some layout changes to the hub area - Seed system has been reworked, now only requiring 8 different inputs, as well as allowing for the letters A,B,C,D,E,F and resulting in twice the amount of possible seeds - Golden Strings now affect relic chests directly, rather than the relic inside - Changed how explosions work with piercing, now creating smaller explosions
FISHING:
- Enemies wont drop any more bait once you have 100 - Fish now adjust their scale based on their size - When catching a fish it will now tell you if it is the first time you caught that fish and whether its the first time you caught a shiny variant - Rare, Legendary and Shiny fish now have visual indicators - The chance for more rare fish to spawn increases by catching more fish in a row. - Shiny fish now have their own colour variation and show up in the journal, to make em extra special - Don't want to give the fisherman your fish? You can now feed the cat with them and maybe even get some special rewards? - Added a better indicator to show how much you have charged up the fishing rod throw - Added a pity mechanic that makes it easier to find the fish you need when you only have 1 left
GUNS:
- Soul Gun: Lowered bullet spread from 10 degree to 5 - Rocket Launcher: Lowered bullet spread from 10 to 0 - Soul Gun (Buster): Charge now won't reset upon shooting and the charged up shot deals more damage and has higher range - Soul Gun (Celestial): Decreased slash detection rate so you are less likely to get in a situation where you want to shoot an enemy but use the sword instead - Shotgun (Base): Adjusted range downgrade to the overall range upgrade - Shotgun (Cluster): Adjusted range downgrade to the overall range upgrade - Charge Gun (Base): Now decreases speed when shooting, but the charge doesn't decrease by walking (Basically the same playstyle, but less tedious to play with, since you don't need to button mash directional keys to move without losing charge) - Rocket Launcher (Mine): Is now a grenade launcher that shoots out grenades which explode into bullets on a timer - Orbit Gun (Base): Reduced Radius - Orbit Gun (Burst): Now reduces the radius further upon shooting out bullets, allowing for easier aiming at enemies. Additionally bullets can't pierce walls anymore after being shot. - Sniper (Reload): Increased ammo by 2 and reloading successfully now increases future reload speed - Charge Gun (Minigun): Reduced the time required to fully charge it - Blast Gun (Constant): After shooting, angle will not change anymore. Increased overall damage
CELESTIAL WEAPONS:
- Aquarius Spears: Increased the spears range, as well as it starting out with an additional spear on each side and the spears staying out for a bit longer - Scorpio Hook: Increased movement speed and now also deals damage to enemies in its path
RELIC CHANGES:
- Made some changes to how relics are generated, which should make for more consistent relic choices in seeded/daily runs

Dev Update | New Room Generation

It's been a while, so I wanted to share some updates on the upcoming update and go a bit more in depth into one of the upcoming changes, which I am especially excited for, the remade room generation.
First of, the update is still progressing smoothly, however it has gotten a lot bigger than originally anticipated, so it's taking a bit longer to develop than we thought it would. However it should still hopefully be finished sometime over the next few weeks, but no promises in that regard. I wanna make sure it's as good as it can be afterall!
Now to the more exciting topic, the reworked room generation. In case you didn't know, Revitas enemy rooms are entirely computer generated, they aren't put together by hand. The idea being, that that would make for more unique rooms and overall just more room variety. However, I have heard from a lot of people that they feel like the rooms are a bit too boring or repetitive. Not even requiring things like wall jumps and overall just being pretty much empty square rooms with platforms in them.
So with that out of the way, I am happy to present some examples of the entirely reworked room generation that I have been working.
As you can see, the new system emphasizes interesting level layouts a lot more than the old one. Sometimes it even requires you to use the wall jump or gun jump to reach areas efficiently. This should make combat a lot more interesting and give you new and interesting ways to test your platforming skills, while also keeping runs overall more varied!
Hope this little preview of the new room generation system got you even more excited for the update, I certainly am. To end things off I'll leave you with a little teaser for something else coming in the update.
