Our next game: Release Date Confirmed for the metroidvania Dimensional Animals!
Release date SET!
Hello, guys! Marcos here. I'm the main developer behind Rift Racoon.
I'm here to announce our next release: DIMENSIONAL ANIMALS!
This metroidvania adventure filled with action, exploration and retro goodness will release on June 5th, 2024!
We are just a few weeks away from its release. Hope you're excited!
The game will release at a fair price and I'll also bring in a very juicy release discount! So hopefully I can count on you to get your copy right as the game releases, on June 5th!
But I want to play NOW!
Don't worry, because while you wait for the full release of the game, I have launched an updated version of the demo allowing for a bit more of exploration!
You can download it now on Dimensional Animal's steam page.
Please also tell your friends about it and ask them to play the demo too!
Thanks for hearing the news! I'm on full steam here to make the best experience possible!
See you soon!
Special thanks to all members of the Dimensional Animals development team: - Hugo Andrade on pixel art - Malu Colusso on music - Jonas Siebeneichler on sound effects
Rift Racoon v1.8 - Small Fixes
- When you collected a level's diamond, it wouldn't get blue in the Pause menu. It would only get blue on the pause menu once you returned to a level where you've already collected the diamond. That is now fixed, the diamond will appear blue right in the moment you collect it. If you get a diamond and die, though, it will go blank again, because you have to save your diamond in a checkpoint. If you save your diamond in a checkpoint and then quit the level without completing it, you'll also lose the diamond. Checkpoints save diamonds, so you can die and die and retry the same level until completing it. Only by completing a level that you truly acquire the diamond.
- You can now reactivate checkpoints to save your collected diamond! Rarely there were situations in which you activated a checkpoint, got the diamond, and couldn't save the diamond because the checkpoint was already active. Now it won't happen again, because you can reactivate the checkpoint to save your diamond. Simply touch it again.
This was pretty much a "diamond" update. Hope these fixes make the experience even more enjoyable!
Thanks! - Marcos
Rift Racoon BIG Summer Update!
Hey! Marcos here.
Rift Racoon is going to participate on the Steam Summer Sale with a 65% discount, so this is a great time to finally get your copy! Not only because of the price deduction, but also because of the SUMMER UPDATE that has just come out!
Check out what's new:
New Skin
A new color palette that resembles summer colors is now available for your racoon! Unlike the other skins, this one is already unlocked from the start, so you just have to select it in the Stage Select menu.
Now you can teleport, climb and jump around well dressed for the summer season! Hope you enjoy it!
New Abillity (+ major bug fix)
This one is a little hard to explain, so bear with me here and pay close attention if you really want to nail understanding this!
Take a look at this gif. It shows a problem you might have come across playing the game, but it's quite rare.
In the first four teleportations, everything works fine. I teleport, and then jump. But on the last ones, I teleport and do a weird short hop. What is happening?
Well, in the last attempts I entered impatient mode and started teleporting and then jumping almost immediately after teleporting. So what I did was press the teleport button and then, almost immediately after pressing the teleport button, pressed the jump button.
This didn't work properly. What should happen is that you would teleport and THEN jump, but you did both actions at the same time. And not only that, the teleporting cancelled your jump height, so for that reason you did this weird short hop.
This is now fixed, and not only that, I turned this bug fix into a new abillity! If you press the jump button immediately after teleporting, you can do this:
How cool is that??!
Teleporting and jumping at almost the same time (you have to press the teleport button slightly sooner) sideways will produce what I call a Teleport Jump! You will go airborne, but still being able to teleport one more time! You can teleport twice in the air, covering more space horizontally!
You can also do a High Jump by teleporting upwards and jumping at almost the same time! You'll jump really high and still have one teleport remaining!
This is definitely an advanced abillity and you're NOT required to master it in order to complete the game. Heck, trying to use this might make the game even harder! But it will be really fun for those who have already mastered the main abillities and are looking for new ways to traverse Rift Racoon's levels!
So if you're a new player warping into Rift Racoon, don't mind this new abillity for a while. You can try it later!
I'm really happy about this new addition, because it fixed a bug that was bumming me down for quite a while AND added a new advanced abillity to the game (something that I really wanted, so experienced players and speedrunners could explore more possibilities).
Level Improvements
These ones are much simpler, so I'll tell about them bullet point style.
New checkpoint in levels 2-5 and 3-2, to make'em easier without influencing on the challenges they present
Adjusted the height of a recharging drone in 2-10, making it less likely that you'll hit it before hitting the one under it
Adjusted the height of the diamond in 2-13, making it a little easier to get
Added a few blocks in the beginning of 1-4, 2-1, 2-3, 2-4, 2-10, 2-12, 2-14, 3-1, 3-2, 3-4, 3-7, 3-8, 3-13, 4-6 and 4-8 to prevent you from teleporting up to the ceiling (this change has been done because of the new High Jump abillity, that allows you to reach higher parts of levels you should'nt be able to reach)
Added one block to 1-5 to allow for a skip if you're crafty
Removed some blocks on 2-19 to allow for a skip if you're crafty
Game Improvements and Bug Fixes
Moving platforms will now drag you upwards if you don't land on top of them, in order to make them easier to handle
Fixed the collision in moving platforms so it won't look like you're floating over it
Fixed a small glitch in which the head bonk effect would appear over your head if you teleported into a wall while in a climbing state
Fixed a small glitch in which a blue box would spawn alongside the head bonk effect and disappear after a few seconds
Fixed a simple bug where holding up and down on the keyboard and then teleporting would play the teleport sound and effects but keep the racoon in the same place
Fixed a bug where the diamond would remain dark, as if it has been gotten, if you get the diamond and save it at a checkpoint and then quit the level. Saving a diamond at a checkpoint doesn't actually make you get it. You have to finish the level to really make the diamond count as collected
Fixed a bug where very rarely, in Casual mode, you would get stuck in a wall for good
And, wow, that was a lot, but everything has been listed and explained!
If you're not yet playing Rift Racoon, make sure to get it 65% off while the Summer Sale is on!
If you already own Rift Racoon, hope you enjoy the new update!
That's all for today. Have fun!
