  • threat indicators will now appear at the edges of the screen to indicate a general direction if the threat is out of view.

Recoil Update 0.18.2.11

Modules



  • recoil added, everything you shoot out has recoil associated with it.
  • module masses varied up, previously all were 10.0 units base.
  • autocannon fire rate lowered about 33%, asteroid impact force halved and volume lowered 3db.
  • autocannon shells elongated so they're more easily seen.
  • autocannon and plasma cannon projectile origin points adjusted to be slightly farther back into the barrels so the trails connect a little better.
  • torpedo rate of fire adjusted to 1 : 10 grouping, turning rates improved over 100% and explosion force doubled.

Drones



  • minor performance improvements with indicators.
  • speed indicator color changes slowed down, giving rise to a yellow state of slowing down and speeding up simultaneously.
  • flight control retuning: roll correction is strongest when already aiming in the right direction to avoid unexpected backflips.
  • drone shield hitpoint regeneration rates doubled.
  • 3 enemy designs updated to have more guns and more shields, be wary of more homing torpedoes around.

Bugfixes



  • torpedo homing quality became excessive up close, worse for larger torpedoes.
  • fire control code cleaned up to handle firing animations better with short refire intervals.

Balance Update 0.18.2.10


  • autocannon damage reduced 25%.
  • torpedo damage reduced 66%.
  • fire animation duration for autocannon & torpedoes reduced to lowest possible to allow maximum fire rates.

Audio



  • default master volume changed to 50% from 100%.
  • explosion sfx now part of "Rumbles" set of audio; distance increased 25% and base volume lowered 3db.
  • attenuation model for drone & weapon sounds changed to linear from inverse-distance - it should now be possible to hear incoming gunfire & nearby drones.
  • drone engine sfx range changed to 2800m and made 2db quieter.
  • autocannon shoot sfx range changed to 1800m.
  • plasma cannon shoot sfx range changed to 2500m.

Drones



  • enemy fire rate scaling reduced 50%.
  • drone death explosion added, purple/magenta-colored.

Bugfixes



  • convex hulls can sometimes run into precision issues when computing area, resulting in NaN drone stats and other problems.

Balance Hotfix 0.18.2.9b

Torpedoes



  • torpedo rotation dampening & angular acceleration increased 50%, scaling adjusted to be less varied across sizes.
  • torpedo homing angles adjusted, small torpedoes need a 75-degree cone with large torpedoes having a 44-degree cone.
  • torpedo braking forces lowered to 25% of thrust, brake ramp-down speed increased and ramp-up speed slightly decreased.
  • torpedo detonation distance adjusted to 50m / 100m / 150m for small / medium / large respectively.
  • torpedo damage scaling halved, small torpedo damage is conserved.
  • torpedo base heat increased 200% as a cost of homing ability.

Enemies



  • enemy hitpoint scaling reduced 50%.

Update 0.18.2.9 - Homing Torpedoes

Torpedoes



  • torpedo trail made slightly more prominent.
  • torpedo indicators simplified to colored distance markers only, for now.
  • torpedo full acceleration now held for 75% of the travel phase.
  • armed torpedoes will now thrust-vector towards drones they choose nearest to their line of sight.
  • torpedo acceleration profile changed, larger torpedoes = longer ranged & faster.
  • torpedo damage profile changed, large torpedoes will only do 2x more damage than smalls, roughly.
  • torpedo rotational dampening has been greatly lowered, launch spin will matter a lot now.

Camera



  • the camera chases the drone more closely now, should be harder to push the drone you're piloting off-camera.
  • camera zoom step doubled, 4 zoom stages in & out now allowed.
  • camera starting view angle increased 50%.

Enemies



  • enemy difficulty lowered considerably, reaching wave 5 should be attainable with most drone designs now.
  • enemy designs now have shield boosters, greenhorn & yellowdog have been given more firepower.

Bugs



  • bugfix: shield module wasn't correctly textured outside of the drone builder.
  • bugfix: shield module selection hitbox in drone builder was too small.
  • bugfix: shadow banding should be less frequent but unfortunately still present sometimes when a new world is generated - regenerating the world / starting another attempt usually fixes it, we're still looking into a permanent solution.

  • bugfix: minimum drone temperature wasn't taken into account during the simulation.
  • framerate counter added (check in Options to enable it).

  • plasma cannon shoot sound added
  • torpedo targeting indicators added

  • heat glow amount halved, drones shouldn't be too bright when overheating anymore
  • overheating isn't immediately fatal anymore and can be utilized strategically
  • drone temperature now has a range

  • shield module now works as described, boosting hitpoints & stability at the cost of minimum temperature
