thesixthaxis has published a new article going over their hands-on experience with RiME and what to expect!
The opening to the game has a very mediterranean feel to it, with a deceptive brilliance to the light grey stones used that the structures are made out of, that are bleached white in the intensity of the sunlight. Though trees and bushes are green, they contrast to the brown rocks and the yellow of the grass that survives the heat. However, this is all accompanied by the gorgeously clear blue skies, the perfectly blue ocean that surrounds the island, and the sounds of the waves and seagulls that befit a coastal setting.

This past weekend RiME was shown off at PAX East, and the reception was spectacular. As guests of the Sony Booth, RiME was the biggest walk-up hit according to their staff. While we do not have any hard numbers, the RiME station was occupied every moment the expo hall was opened, players waiting over an hour to try out the demo.
During the show, we handed out hundreds of coloring pages and a few lucky attendees walked away with a t-shirt or a fox plush. On top of giving out items, we also asked players for their thoughts after playing RiME. We'll be taking that feedback and sharing it with the community once it is ready. Keep an eye out on Facebook and Twitter for more updates on that!
During the 3 days of the show, The Fox was always nearby to make sure players found their way while playing RiME. If The Fox was busy, we had our Brand Manager Andrew Schnorr and Community Manager Tim Slager available to answer any questions.
We want to say thank you to everyone who stopped by the Sony booth to hang out with us this weekend. Your energy and excitement were contagious and we're so excited for players to finally get their hands on RiME May 26th!
Day 2 at PAX
As more and more people discovered that RiME was at PAX East the line started building up. By Noon it was an hour long wait to try RiME. In our short 15-minute show demo players were introduced to both puzzle and exploration elements, discovering secrets and overcoming challenges were met with smiles and celebration.
People were sent on their own adventure outside of RiME, trying to find our friends who were showing The Fox around the show floor. The valiant few who found our friends were rewarded with their own Fox plush.

Two members of our team were also invited to join in a discussion at the Xbox booth. Miguel and Andrew spent time talking about the various aspects of RiME and sharing the excitement with the Xbox Community. We will update this post when a video becomes available.
Tomorrow is the final day of PAX so if you have not gotten a chance to get your hands on RiME be sure to stop by the Sony booth and begin your adventure!
PAX Day 1 has come to a close
Today was an incredible day at PAX East. We've been showing off RiME at the Sony booth and the receiption has been nothing short of spectacular. Our Fox has been on station incase anyone had questions about RiME and of course taking pictures with attendees.
Our coloring pages flew off the shelf and had to be restocked 3 times. The team on the floor had an incredible time talking to fans about RiME and hearing what they thought about it. A few lucky fans even walked away with their very own fox.

RiME was a hit at PAX South!
It’s hard to believe that PAX South is already a month behind us. This was the show where we finally had the chance to let people experience RiME for the first time. During every one of the three days, the excitement and energy surrounding this opportunity was palpable. In addition to showing off the stunning visuals, vibrant landscapes and challenging puzzles to folks (fifteen minutes at a time), we also had the opportunity to speak with players who have been excited about RiME since its announcement. Their enthusiasm was great to see first-hand, but equally exciting for all of us was meeting with people who were only discovering the game for the first time.
Every morning, within minutes of the show floors opening, the RiME line was capped. At its peak, we had to limit it to a two-hour wait—and yet, attendees still said it was worth it. We had nearly a thousand people get their hands on RiME for the first time, and no one walked away easily. Everyone wanted to continue exploring the island, whether that meant finding secrets, playing with pigs or just enjoying the scenery. Throughout the 3-day show, we gave a fox plushie to everyone who played the demo and a t-shirt to anyone who pre-ordered the game. Pretty soon, the little orange animals were popping up everywhere on the streets of San Antonio!
In addition to the standard swag, 15 lucky people went home with unique pieces of concept art printed on canvas, most of which were autographed by the dev team.
Both Tequila Works and Team Grey Box were present in full force to answer questions and discuss the game with the many interested con-goers. We even had cosplay artist FoximusPrime—herself a part of Team Grey Box—make an appearance as the boy from the game and hang out for some fan photo-ops.
In addition to all the people who were able to play RiME for the first time, the Tequila Works team was able to sit down with press to discuss the game in more depth. Here are some examples of that coverage, and a few choice quotes from each conversation:
Hardcore Gamer “This is a title that has every indication of being fun and engaging. The design, look, and gameplay that I saw leads me to believe that it will be an instant classic when it launches in May.”
Zelda Universe “I said before that Rime is my favorite demo from PAX South. I was already interested in the game before playing, but after a mere 30-minute demo, the game became one of my most anticipated releases of the year.”
DVS Gaming “There is a serenity in RiME that makes it a joy to play even if some of the puzzles don’t seem obvious at first. It looks beautiful and the soundtrack immerses you in this mysterious world but helping you feel the grandeur of this once great civilization.”
Thanks to everyone who was able to make it to the show— we really appreciate it! Be sure to keep an eye out for the RiME demo at future events as we gear up for the May launch!
New article from Red Bull, "The 4-year wait for RiME is nearly over."
RedBull.com just published an article going over RiME's development and what to expect when it's released. You can read the entire article here.
It's been a long time coming, but finally, RiME, formerly known as Echoes of Siren, is nearly with us, and it's been worth the wait.
The indie darling was revealed back in 2013 as a console exclusive during Sony's indie presentation at Gamescom, and before that, it was even set to be a Microsoft exclusive – but developer Tequila Works has since bought back the IP, and is releasing it on both current-gen consoles, PC and even bringing the game to Nintendo's brand new Switch console.
The 35-strong Spanish studio has been hard at work on the game for years now, and while it looks a bit like The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker or perhaps even The Last Guardian at first glance, there's a whole lot more under the surface of this 3D adventure title littered with puzzles. In fact, you have to look a lot further back in time to see some of RiME's direct influences, and to other mediums entirely.
"For RiME, the visuals were incredibly inspired by Joaquín Sorolla, an early 20th century painter, also known as the 'Master of light'," creative director Raúl Rubio explained. "A lot of his paintings deal with trying to recreate the breeze, the waves and the light – you can feel that everything is improved with light – it's bouncing off of all the clothes, for example."
Sorolla's bright, vivid paintings are echoed in RiME's equally bright design: the open world shows off a bright blue sky and dazzling white architecture, and as the day-night cycle moves into dusk, the game is still incredibly pretty, with gorgeous dynamic lights that show your path and hint at the direction the unnamed boy, your protagonist, needs to take.
WCCFTech talks RiME with Tequila Works
