Please note:
Ring of Elysium’s live servers will go down for maintenance for approximately three hours at:

  • Pacific Time: August 27th, 0:00-3:00
  • UTC/GMT: August 27th, 7:00-10:00




During the maintenance period, the game will not be available and ongoing games will be interrupted directly. Please be sure to finish all matches before the above time to avoid any issues. Thank you for your patience and understanding.


Adventurer Season 10- RETURN OF THE ADVENTURERS



  • Adventurer Season 10 officially kicks off! Unlock the Adventure Pass for brand-new Adventurer Characters, play to rank up your Tiers, earn more than 100 in-game rewards, and 1500 E-Points back!
  • The Adventurer Pass spans over the 10-week season and is a way for players to earn exclusive in-game rewards. By playing the game and ranking up the seasonal Adventurer Tier, players will unlock various rewards, including:

    • E-points: The S10 Adventurer Pass rewards include a total of 1500 E-points! Players can spend 950 E-points to unlock the Pass and earn 1500 E-points back when they hit tier 97
    • Adventurer Characters (does not affect game balance)

      • There will be three Adventurer Characters in this season. All characters have a variety of unlockable styles, and will gradually unlock as the player's Tier increases their Adventurer Pass

        • Igor (Base Character Preview)

        • Edward Miller (Base Character Preview)

        • Mancy (Preview to be revealed)

    • Portraits
    • Traversal equipment appearances
    • Lobby music
    • Loading screens
    • and more!

  • The Adventurer Pass is separated into two parts:

    • The Free Pass - all players can obtain rewards by ranking up their Adventurer Tiers without any payment
    • The Adventurer Pass, which is available for 950 E-Points. E-Points are a premium in-game currency obtained with real-world money via Steam payment (1000 E-Points is equivalent to $9.99 USD)

  • As always, none of the rewards in the Adventurer Pass affects game balance, and all unlocked rewards stay forever


Limited Time Modes



  • New LTMs

    • Grand Adventure: Europa Island with Wind Tunnels, Respawn Stations, Pirate Ships, and Underwater Treasure
    • Heavy Metal: Europa Island with only Sniper Rifles and RPG-7 as weapon spawns, and Vehicle Mod Kit as the only available tactical ability

  • S10 LTM weekly rotation:

    • Monday, Wednesday: Europa Island (6 hours per day)
    • Thursday: 4v4 Team Deathmatch (9 hours per day)
    • Tuesday, Friday: Mt. Dione (6 hours per day)
    • Saturday: Grand Adventure or Heavy Metal (9 hours per day)

Gameplay



  • Significantly reduced the effective range of Biosignal Detector
  • Added a new set of reload animation for all weapons and improved the reload mechanic. Now, if you have one in the chamber when you reload, the reload speed will be quicker
  • Adjusted and improved various weapons’ empty chamber reload animations


Coin Store



  • Introducing the brand-new “Coin Store”. In non-training games, players can now earn coins each game based on their in-game performance (up to a maximum of 35,000 Coins per week)
  • Veteran players’ “Credits” will be automatically converted into “Coins” at a ratio of 1:1
  • Players can spend Coins in the Coin Store to redeem all kinds of rewards, including Weapon Skins, Traversal Appearances, Vehicle Appearances, Portraits, Adventurer Character Trial-cards, and more!



Lobby UI



  • Renamed the “Store” tab to “EP Store”
  • Moved the “Vault” tab into the “Appearance” tab, which is now called “Rewards”


S10 Supporter Rewards



  • Introducing “Supporter rewards”! Purchase any amount of E-Points during Season 10 to claim a supporter reward pack at the Event Center, rewards include an Epic G36 weapon skin, an accessory, and a portrait



New-player Tutorial



  • New players can now choose to skip the “Training Round”
  • The process of the first “Training Round” for new players will be significantly faster compared to normal games
  • Added various tips for new players to provide guidance for an easier understanding of ROE’s unique game mechanics


Returning Players Invitation Event



  • Event period: Aug. 27 to Oct. 21
  • During the event, earn 100 E-Points per friend you successfully invite back to the game, you can earn up to a maximum of 1000 E-Points
  • Only players that haven't logged in since August 13 counts as returning players
  • Returning players must use your referral code in-game to count as a successful invitation


Daily Limit Supply Box



  • Updated the rewards in the Daily Limit Supply Box with 6 weapon skins, 2 vehicle appearances, and a set of traversal appearances


Adventurer Pass Owner Exclusive Supply Box



  • Adventurer Pass Owners will be able to claim a FREE chest every day at the EP Store, which contains random rewards including weapon skins, vehicle appearances, portraits, E-Points, and more


Leaderboard and statistics reset



  • With the launch of Season 10, we have reset the leaderboards, player ratings, and all personal statistics. This will continue to happen at the start of every new season


Battle Buddy- Season 10 Update



  • We have reset the rewards of the Battle Buddy invitation system and all players’ Battle Buddy relationships. Players are welcomed to continue recruiting new Battle Buddies in the Season 10 to join your adventures


DX12 Client

Pinnacle Challenges



  • Pinnacle Challenges are back! Reward includes a FREE Season 10 Adventurer Pass, as well as E-Points, experience points, and an exclusive portrait!



Scopes



  • Re-added green reticle styles for the red dot and holographic, and adjusted the default style


Breath Hold



  • Players are no longer able to hold breath while using gliders and vehicles
  • Entering ADS while holding down “Shift” to sprint will no longer automatically hold breath. Players will need to release Shift and press it again to hold breath


Effects



  • Optimized third-party weapon muzzle flash effects
  • Optimized the screen-shake effect in certain cases
  • Optimized the FPP elimination animation

ADS Overhaul



  • Remodeled various scopes

  • Added the ADS Depth of Field visual effect option, this option is turned on by default, players may adjust it in the in-game options


FPP Animation Overhaul

New Mechanic- Breath Holding



  • Scope sway is now more noticeable with 4X and 8X scopes

New Mechanic- Bullet Penetration



  • Certain objects can now be penetrated by bullets, the damage is calculated based on the object's texture and thickness, firing distance, as well as the weapon used


New Mechanic- Aim Punch



  • Added an aim punch camera shake effect when characters get hit, the screen shake intensity varies based on the amount of damage taken


Special Effects



  • Optimized muzzle flashes and muzzle smoke effects
  • Optimized textures for bullet holes and other effects


Audio Effects



  • Added a realistic propagation delay for gunshot sounds
  • Optimized audio effects for bullets that passes near players


Other

Weapon Balance Changes



  • Reduced the vertical recoil and horizontal recoil range during the second half of spraying for ARs
  • Slightly reduced the recoils for AK47 and Groza
  • Slightly reduced LVOA-C’s damage and slightly increased its damage attenuation
  • Slightly reduced the vertical recoil for Scorpion EVO3 A1
  • Slightly increased the horizontal recoil for the first few shots for DMRs
  • Slightly enhanced the camera shake effect when firing DMRs
  • Reduced the horizontal recoil range during the second half of spraying for LMGs

Weapon Skins



  • Introducing the REBOOT Weapon Skin Supply Box! Open it and you'll have a chance at getting 20 brand-new skins, including Epic skins "MPX - Lockdown", “AK15 - Breakout”, rare skins “Sand Barriers”, “Electric Pulse”, “Mercenaries”, and more!
  • The cost of opening each Supply Box is 100 E-points

Patch Notes – Weapon Recoil Overhaul Implemented (Jun.25.2020)

Adventurer Characters

Weapon Recoil Overhaul



  • The recoil overhaul we tested in LTM “Heavy Caliber” has been applied to all modes
  • Fixed an issue where the default vertical sensitivity was set to 65, the default value is now 100
  • Some pro tips for getting used to the new recoil system:

    • Under the new mechanics, we have significantly lowered the randomness of weapon recoil and designed a recoil pattern for every weapon in the game. Each weapon will have a more distinct character and have their strengths and weaknesses. Players will be able to practice, learn, and master each weapon’s recoil pattern, and gradually increase their recoil control skills through playing

    • We also recommend players to adjust in-game sensitivities and their vertical sensitivity ratio setting if needed




Bug Fixes



  • Fixed an issue where grappling hook cooldown was occasionally shown incorrectly in TDM mode
  • Fixed an issue where the Scorpion EVO3 A1 occasionally missed firing sound effects
  • Fixed an issue where a transparent UI blocked the lower-right side of the screen when character moved under the prone position (this bug only occurred occasionally)

Developer Insights - Gunplay Overhaul

Hi Adventurers!

In our prologue post, we went into great detail about the underlying meaning of Season 9's name "REBOOT". In the future, we will continue to focus on polishing the core experience and quality of the game. Season 9 might seem like a season without any actual content, but in reality, the development team put tons of effort into enhancing the core aspect of the game- gunplay.


The sole purpose of this gunplay overhaul is to greatly increase the depth of play, give each weapon their unique characteristics, optimize weapon balance and improve visual presentation, thus, comprehensively bringing the fun you experience in gunfights to the next level!


I. Depth of play



In the very beginning, ROE had a design philosophy of using a simplified shooting mechanic, lowering the requirement of entry. However, while this design was very beginner-friendly, it also sacrifices the depth of gunplay to some extent. Some players jokingly call our guns "laser weapons" that are not satisfying nor challenging enough to play with.

So, we looked at a number of mainstream shooters on the market, including CS:GO, Rainbow 6: Siege, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, Battlefield 5, and more. On the basis of in-depth study and comparison, we have developed a new set of recoil mechanisms to bring a completely new experience of weapon handling.

Under the new mechanism, different weapons will have different recoil patterns and show distinct personalities. Players can gradually improve their recoil control skills with each weapon through learning and practice. We believe that mastering those weapon controls can be greatly rewarding and provide a great sense of accomplishment to players. At the same time, weapon attachments under the new mechanism will have a more significant impact on the recoil, greatly increasing their tactical value.

II. Weapon balance



Weapon balance has also been a common topic of discussion among our communities. In order to highlight the characteristics of different types of weapons, we have adjusted each weapon's bullet air friction ratio, meaning the projectile's drop and flight speed attenuation will be more noticeable. This will greatly open up the differences between weapons, and provide a clear identity to each weapon's strengths.

We also distinguished the ADS speed for each type of weapon. Pistols, for example, have a much faster ADS speed compared to sniper rifles. And attachments will now affect the ADS speed for weapons as well.

In addition, we adjusted the damage and damage attenuation for different weapon types, such as assault rifles and submachine guns, to further fine-tune the weapon balance.

Lastly, we have added a limb penetration mechanism, the goal is to make the bullet hit the area more precisely, show a more realistic presentation, this also helps with reducing the confusion of inaccurate hit registration.


In the past, a bullet from a weapon hits one part of the target but cannot penetrate the rest of the target, hence situations like "the hand stops the bullet from piercing the body" happens.

But with the limb penetration mechanisms, different weapon types will have different penetration capabilities.

III. Visual improvements



Visual presentation plays a huge part in building satisfying gunplay, we have started with optimizing the camera shake and scope sway effect during shooting to bring players a greater sense of immersion when engaging in gunfights.

The camera motion will be more intense, and it will be directly related to the power and weight of each weapon. The sway of the scope will naturally correlate with the breathing of the character.

IV. Final thoughts



A gunplay overhaul with this kind of magnitude takes a lot of testing and iterations, considering the new recoil considerably increased in difficulty, we will first put the patterns to test in the limited-time TDM mode "Heavy Caliber" for players to experience. As always, we will pay very close attention to monitor our data and our communities, and we really look forward to reading some amazing feedback from you, so us devs and players could perfect the mechanism together, and roll out this overhaul to all maps and modes in the game.
