Special Flying Circus Discount for Rise of Flight pilots and Early Access Launched!
Dear ROF Pilots,
It’s time to return to the Great War and experience WWI like never before! We are proud to announce that Early Access for Flying Circus – Volume One has begun!
As many of you already know, we are bringing WWI content to the IL-2 Sturmovik: Great Battles series and building our spiritual successor to Rise of Flight. We hope Flying Circus – Volume One will be the beginning of a successful series of WWI themed air combat products that will allow us to expand upon what we have already accomplished with Rise of Flight. Flying Circus will capitalize and utilize all the technical improvements made to our simulation engine including VR support, 64bit architecture, DirectX 11 and many other optimizations and enhancements in graphics, performance, AI terrain rendering and more.
As of now, Early Access includes the SPAD 13 and Fokker Dr.1 to fly and fight one another in. Our Lapino maps are acting as a stand-in for the future French map and both planes have been re-built and re-mastered by our partners at Yugra Media from earlier less complex models. This means improved mesh, textures, damage and other small enhancements of the same aircraft from previous products. As with all our Early Access periods more flyable aircraft and proper WWI related effects and technology will follow in the coming months. Time to get the goggles and scarves out of the closet!
The full plane-set for Flying Circus – Volume One is:
Spad XIII
Sopwith Dolphin
Sopwith Camel
RAF S.E.5a
Bristol Fighter F.II + III
Albatros D.Va
Fokker Dr.1
Fokker D.VII + F
Pfalz D.IIIa
Halberstadt CL.II + (200hp)
We’d also like to take this time to explain our discount plan for Rise of Flight users who purchase Flying Circus and qualify for a special discount code. We have chosen to give ROF users who supported us throughout our existence an additional discount. Without this support we would not be here today and is a small way to say thanks to those that supported us when it mattered most. Some customers really went above and beyond in their financial support and that is reflected in the discounts below. We only wish economic reality would allow for it to be more.
First, everyone who orders during the Early Access period gets a $10 discount off regular MSRP no matter what. Second, if you are an existing ROF customer and meet certain criteria you qualify for an additional discount. The criteria are as follows.
Anyone who purchased content for ROF between its launch in 2009 to July 25, 2018 from our website, STEAM or a boxed or digital copy from an official retail partners during that time frame will receive an additional discount for a limited time.
• If you spent between $0.01 and $70.99 on ROF content you will receive an additional $5 OFF.
• If you spent between $71.00 and $200.99 on ROF content you will receive an additional $10 OFF.
• If you spent greater than $201.00 on ROF content you will receive an additional $15 OFF.
For STEAM users who have purchased ROF products we have analyzed everyone’s ROF User Account and tried to determine your total investment and took that into consideration as we determined your special discount. For those that have bought products from both our website and STEAM we have taken both sources into consideration.
Additionally, ALL ROF users that have made any purchase of ROF content at any time over the years, we have placed an additional promo code for 25% OFF your next order from the IL-2 store in your ROF profile. Some ROF pilots have not had the chance to experience IL-2 yet so this is a great opportunity to give it a go! Sorry, but the code cannot be applied to FC, TC or BoBP.
Finally, some have already ordered Flying Circus and are already enjoying Early Access, but do not have a ROF account. So as a thank you, we have placed an additional promo code for 25% OFF your next order from the IL-2 store in your IL-2 profile. Sorry, but the code cannot be applied to FC, TC or BoBP.
The special discount period ends September 14, 2018.
To get your special discount you’ll need to access your ROF or IL-2 User Account on the ROF or IL-2 website (depending on your situation) and retrieve a promo code we have placed in your user profile. Then return to the IL-2 webstore and place your order for Flying Circus or other product. Enter your discount/promo code at check out. The additional discount will be reflected in the final amount.
NOTE: We no longer swap website keys for STEAM keys, so if you wish to own Flying Circus or any other IL-2 product solely on STEAM you will need to wait for the STEAM release at a later date. We do not know at this time if there will be a launch discount for FC on STEAM nor do we know the final release date for FC on STEAM. However, if you buy FC on our website you are welcome to link your STEAM account (assuming you own IL-2 BOS on STEAM) with your IL-2 website account and play FC through your IL-2 STEAM install. For more information on our STEAM Linkage process please read out guide found HERE.
We thank ALL Rise of Flight pilots for their support over the years!
Sincerely,
The IL-2 Sturmovik: Flying Circus Team (formerly the Rise of Flight team)

In appreciation of the continued support of our dear players, and to show Rise of Flight our love we are making these three excellent announcements.
First, the game will be updated in the beginning of June with a pack of bug fixes. In particular, we’re addressing the broken gunner system - getting the issue fixed will no doubt be a big relief to all bomber pilots and server operators.
Second, in addition to the project’s first Russian aircraft ILYA Muromets we’re are releasing a new airplane! It is the S-16 fighter created by the renowned aircraft designer Igor Sikorsky, Russia’s very first mass-production fighter plane with a machine-gun synchronizer. Now you can escort the big S-22 on combat missions!
And finally, to celebrate ROF’s the 7th year on the market we’re launching a 70% off sale on all game content (except ILYA Muromets and upcoming S-16). Rise of Flight: United Edition - RELEASED
Dear Pilots!
Today we’re deploying one of the most technologically significant updates for Rise of Flight. Along with an enhanced user interface, we have added the Mouse Control option. This system wasearlier tested within the ILYA Muromets project, and now, after a series of improvements it is coming to Rise of Flight. The testing employed experienced virtual pilots as well as players who are used to a traditional keyboard+mouse set up. Thanks to their assistance, and using our own flight sim experience we created what we believe is the most honest mouse control system in a flight-sim product.
We say “honest” because in the updated ROF a mouse is nothing but an input device, a new additional type of controller, but not an overly automated virtual assistant that cheats. It’s simply an opportunity for you to play a game you have an interest in even though you don’t have specific controllers for it such as joysticks and pedals.
While working on this system and transferring the general control functionality to the mouse, we haven’t touched the flight models or brought changes to the game world’s physics. Thus, Rise of Flight as you’ve known and loved for almost 6 years remains the same. Furthermore, it’s becoming more open and friendly to players who have an interest in WWI aviation and have no joystick - yet.
So, before the new version goes public we’d like to appeal to players whose first experience in Rise of Flight will be with the mouse control option. Flying a plane using all of its technical capabilities, taking down strong and skilled opponents and having a true sensation of flight is only possible when using the dedicated game controllers such as a joystick and pedals. The PC mouse simply was never designed to be a flight sim device so it has its limitations. Nevertheless, we’re giving it a solid chance to take you high in the magnificent endless sky of Rise of Flight.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Now, a couple of words about the GUI changes that we think you should be aware of in advance.
Firstly, we've turned the botton menu into 5 compact icons that you'll find on the top center part of the screen. Their contents remain the same.
Secondly, the control settings have been updated. Now you can choose between classic joystick control and mouse control options.
Thirdly, we've added the ILYA MUROMETS campaign devoted to Igor Sikorsky's aircraft. Everyone who buys the plane on our site, or has pre-ordered the ILYA Muromets project, gets this unique set of missions on Eastern front.
And the last but not least is the Improved Gunnery option which activates a slightly different machine gun fire setting improving the overall accuracy of automatic fire. This option is also available in the Dedicated server settings.
Thanks for your continued support, and see you in the skies of ROF!
