UPDATE 3.13
Update 3.13 brought forth a heap of new content, bug fixes and general improvements. Here’s what we’ve released so far:
ADVANCED II MAP PACK

ROADMAP - 2024
As we set our sights on the future, the 2024 roadmap aims to introduce new features, new content and our Network Overhaul.
Network Overhaul (early to mid 2024)
A few days ago I posted a network overhaul update on Steam and Discord. For context, RISK currently relies on a third party networking solution for multiplayer features which we are in the process of changing. As part of this change we are re-working the game’s entire multiplayer functionality to give us better overall stability, security and performance of all RISK multiplayer games.
Our backend team (which is separate from the team creating the maps, dice and troops) have been working on this update for over a year and it continues to be a top priority for us, even though it is taking longer than anticipated. While we initially aimed to roll out the new networking solution by the end of 2023, we've opted for a more deliberate approach, prioritising stability and design quality.
With our current milestones, we’re aiming to release the networking overhaul early to mid 2024.
Our team will continue to work on critical maintenance tasks and release content based updates (including the most recent 3.13 update) while our development team focuses on the multiplayer overhaul.
Content
The team is also working hard to deliver brand new maps to the game. We currently aim to release two map packs within the first half of 2024.
Community requested features
There are many community-requested features that we plan to introduce into RISK. You can expect to see these features throughout the year after the rollout of our networking overhaul. Features we’re currently considering include anonymous lobbies, map selection updates, game saves, new modes and more!
PRIME GAMING

Hall of Fame Tourney
We have now reached the finals of the Hall of Fame Tourney, which is an FFA RISK tournament featuring the top players in the game! It will be an incredibly stacked lobby, with all 6 players already holding the Free For All Tourney Winner title.

Map Design Competition
The Map Design Competition finished on the 4th of December. Thank you to all the designers for submitting their artworks, it was amazing to go through and see over 80 submissions, up from 16 from last season (that’s 5 times more entries)!

We want to assure you that we hear your voices and understand the frustrations some of you experience with the current multiplayer experience in RISK.
For context, RISK currently relies on a third party networking solution for multiplayer features which we are in the process of changing. As part of this change we are re-working the game’s entire multiplayer functionality to give us better overall stability, security and performance of all RISK multiplayer games.
It will also allow us to add the ability to play games over extended periods of time (ie play games over days/weeks) which we think will allow people to fit more RISK into their lives as they can chip away at Global Domination in short bursts.
Our backend team (which is separate from the team creating the maps, dice and troops) have been working on this update for over a year and it continues to be a top priority for us, even though it is taking longer than initially anticipated. While we initially aimed to roll out the new networking solution by the end of 2023, we've opted for a more deliberate approach, prioritising stability and design quality.
