Major RISK Update v3.10, our first update for 2023!
Attention RISK Generals!
Welcome to RISK v3.10! This is our first update for the year, and just a small taste of whatās to come for 2023. You can check out our preview video, showcasing everything new for the latest update below:
Communicate in Lobby
Weāre super excited to kick off the year by tackling a highly requested feature from the community. Players will now have the ability to communicate with each other in the lobby while waiting for a game to start.
Players can now use their emotes or any of the brand new lobby phrases while waiting for games to start. You can let the game host know how youāre really feeling about the number of bots theyāve added to the game.
Any emotes players own can also be used in the lobby, so get hyped for your next match with some pre-game trash talk.
RISK x Death Squared
SMG is nearing its 10th anniversary this year, and to celebrate, we will be dropping some dice inspired by our co-op puzzle game Death Squared!
The prototype originated in 2015 at the 48 hour Global Game Jam, themed āWhat do we do next?ā and went on to become a fully fledged game, released by SMG in 2017. You can now pick up Steve, Franke, Emma and Barry in the store now!
And if you love cooperative puzzle games for up to 4 players, you can check out the original game, available on Steam, Switch, PS4/5, Xbox, Android and IOS.
These cool new dice will become available in the shop within a week of the new 3.10 update.

RISK Update 3.10 Teaser
First update of the year is coming out next week and the team is so excited to share it with you all.
We have added communication in the lobby, shiny new dice from our very own game, Death Squared, and overall improvements and bug fixes,

RISK Season 9!
Season 9 is here! A new season of RISK battles has begun, and our global leaderboards will be reset.
Your rank points will be reset to the bottom of the Rank class that you achieved last season (e.g. if you were a Grand Master last season, your rank points will be reset to 26,000 for this season).
You'll temporarily see '0' for your profile rank (this is your position on the Global Seasonal leaderboard). Just complete one ranked Global Domination game in this new season to see your updated profile rank. You'll be placed back on the leaderboard as soon as that game is finished by all players.

HAPPY NEW YEAR RISK GENERALS!
Did you know in the northern hemisphere, January is the coldest month in many places, but in the southern hemisphere, it is by far the hottest?
The team at SMG Studio is back from their holiday break and we are excited about whatās to come in 2023.
2022 was an excellent year for RISK. To sum it up:
We reached 100,000 members on Discord
The community hosted many tournaments
We added dice, troops, game modes, and new map packs
We added Battle Points to the game
RISK got a new look and feel on the home and game setup screens
Suggestions from the community including an update to bonuses on the Japan map and a new semi-automatic troop placement option
And we made ranked 1v1 and FFA changes
Thank you for the feedback and support for RISK in 2022. We have no doubt that this year will be even better!
In our last bulletin, we showed what the RISK Roadmap looks like for 2023.
Itās a new year which means new content! To kick off the year, we will focus on:
New dice
New Troops
Brand new tutorials and training for new players
A new āOut Of This World Map Packā
Optimisation for better performance on devices

The second half of the year will be all about updating our networking solution to improve the multiplayer experience and enable new and exciting multiplayer features in the future. This will be a big deal and should fix the #1 issue, such as crashes and drop outs.

Can you believe itās December already?
Did you know December originally had just 30 days according to the ancient Roman calendar? When the calendar was changed to the Julian calendar, December gained a day, making it the seventh and last month in the year with 31 days.
On December 8th we posted RISK Update v3.9. Here are some highlights:
Bots were added to Ranked 1v1 matches as requested by the community
The Shikoku bonus on the Japan map was revised
A new troop placement option was added: semi-automatic
Resistor is Futile Map Pack
We released a new map pack inspired by our formative technological childhoods. Let us know in the comments if you spotted the Easter eggs in the maps themselves.
And the Map Pack box art by Australian Artist Veronica OāNeill.
As a small thank you to our RISK community we've added bonus gems to Battle Points levels that don't currently have a reward! Each time you level up this month, you will receive a reward or gems*. Players who've already levelled up will receive bonus gems for these levels when they login (if you don't see the gems in your total a quick app restart should do the trick!)
These bonus gems are only available until January 13th.
*Battle Points daily cap still applies.
We will also be running Winter sales throughout the holiday period on map packs, bundles and premium. Plus we've added a few new colour variants on some of our favourite dice.

As we reach the end of 2022 we wanted to show you what is in store for 2023.
Our biggest plans for the year include new content and a major networking overhaul.
This update will be huge for us and is geared towards, improving and creating opportunities for new and better multiplayer experiences in RISK.
This will include improvements across:
stability
connections and reconnections in multiplayer games
greater ability to identify and remove cheating
It also gives us the ability to explore new options for how multiplayer games are played and saved in RISK. Once we make this update we are able to explore:
game slots
longer games that can be played over multiple sessions
team battles
...and more.

This event began on October 24 and finishes on December 17, 2pm (EST)! After 7 rounds we have narrowed it down to the final 4 players who will compete for 1st, 2nd and 3rd prizes.
