Steel Series GameSense update
Steel Series sent us some kit so we can enable GameSense for RISK.
Turned out pretty cool. If you have compatible hardware give it a go. It's a free enhancement so give it a try. It even works on a MAC as seen in the video! Venn diagram of MAC gamers x Steel Series owners is VERY small but we've tested it and it works great!
We've slipped this update in as right now everyone is working on the big 2.8 update for Dec and it's coming together well. Stay tuned for that.

Free stuff? What's the catch
Why did we update a 2 year old map pack with free content?! Because we started with 3 maps per pack and then some had 4 and a couple had 5! So make them all visually even and fair value we've circled back to older packs to make sure every pack has at least 4 maps.
This leaves Pirates and Zombies (which also have avatars and dice) as the next to get free updates! The next Zombie map will update close to 🎃 Halloween 🎃 so, wait for it.... stay 👻 toOOOOooOOooned* 👻 for that update.

There's been some hating on the use of memes and silly jokes in these updates. All I can say is that adding these silly jokes are what make these update fun for me. That said in 2021 we'll be hiring someone else to help with these (and other things) so if you think you can do better then apply for that job. (Giggity! No one actually requested “Grip of the North” it’s a mash together of Sandinania and a few other countries)

Player avatars on in-app leaderboards also now link to their profiles.
You can also tap avatars in your friends list to view their profiles. So tap your friends!
You’re assigned a country based on your IP, but this can be changed in the app settings because maybe you’re an English-person living in Australia (there’s many! But you still want to represent the UK) Or like my previous example you just want to be #1 from Chad. Maybe your name is Chad (i’m sorry) and you think it’ll be really meta to also be from Chad.
FAIR PLAY!
New detection (and penalties) for players using unfair stalling tactics to delay winning by accumulating troops to force their opponent to quit. (WHY do people do this?! Seriously! Isn’t the world already in such bad shape that we don't need people stalling for no reason? If this happens to you and we don't detect it please report these people so we can penalise them.
Additional detection and automated warnings for friends playing together in ranked Global Domination matches. Just don't do it.
If a ranked 1v1 game is determined to be “between friends”, it will be converted to unranked.
We’ve also added a minimum Single Player win requirement to unlock the ranked Global Domination mode. Scenarios will not count towards this total. This will reduce people using “burner” accounts.
OTHER IMPROVEMENTS!
Check your friends list to now see when they were last online. If it’s been a while please hit them up on other channels to say “hey! Let’s play RISK!”
To get you fired up for battle we finally polished-up the loading sequence.
Talking of polish, we’ve made several improvements to the troops and dice rendering. This is just stage one of several improvements planned this year.
Copy button added to GAME ID in the Play Friends lobby for the game host.
Social avatars removed. (There is a pinned news for that)
Multiple memory improvements for improved stability and performance. At least 5 more HP!
MAP POLISH & FIXES
That’s polishing as in “making better” not Polish as in Poland which is officially the Republic of Poland, a country located in Central Europe. Divided into 16 administrative subdivisions, covering an area of 312,696 square kilometres, and has a largely temperate seasonal climate.
Minor:
Asia 1800s visual clean-up of the short bridges in the bottom of the map
Africa: minor visual clean-up of outlines
Russia 2010: Fixed z-fighting on bridge points. Damn Zs always fighting. We warned them and now they are banned from fighting at all.
Moscow [Advanced]: Fixed weird line on Territory Vostochny. “Weird” as in ‘OK I thought I left my keys on the couch but they ended up in my shoes?!’ weird and not ‘my neighbor is doing weight training at 4am everyday in the garage while coaching himself in 3rd person’ weird. Because that’s really weird and the police wont do anything about it even though it wakes me up every morning. I might have to move.
Important
Pangaea: fixed missing connection between Peru and Argentina below is after image. Peru swiped right so now they are connected!
Central America Removed incorrect connection between Massachusetts and Pennsylvania territories. Mass blocked Pennsylvania and wont return texts and hasn’t felt this good for a while. Good for you Mass for moving on.
Also added a missing dashed connection line between Cuba and Haiti
BUG FIXES
Fix for missing dice visual and soft lock on replay after setting the device to manual roll.
Fix for Error 778 is triggered upon attempting to play “Tutorial 3: Crush Rome!”
Fix when clicking on a territory in the attack phase does not zoom in to include connections that are far away
Fix for Error 698 when attempting to start scenarios
Fix for when eliminated player Avatar is not greyed out for all players in Multiplayer games
Fix for when selecting help tooltip(?) during the game causes soft lock.
Multiple checks to prevent broken game state with unclaimed territories or unresponsive AI in multiplayer games

Upcoming map for the Zombie Map Pack "London: 28 Turns Later"
We're quite proud of that reference :)
We'll be adding this map to the Zombie Pack for free to everyone who has already bought the pack.
This is part of the goal to get all the packs to have at least 4 maps. US Cities and Pirates will also be receiving free map additions in 2020. Smash that like button for more free stuff!!
We're still working on the final treatment of how to handle the landmarks. But they add a bit of 3D fun to the map and showcase which of the spread out territories form the "continent" bonus.

Crikey! It looks like SMG has gone the full troll on his fellow Aussies and also tried to fix the previous injustices of NZ being missing by making it huge!
That said when you line up the countries like this you see it fits like a glove! 🤔🤔🤔 We're not scientists but I'm sure this is legit how it was millions of years ago.
OK, seriously though we are debating internally whether it should be pǝddᴉlɟ like this or the "right way" up.

We tallied the votes, removed 90% of them (they were for Turkey which was already in the set) and then made an editorial decision to pick S̶c̶a̶n̶d̶i̶n̶a̶v̶i̶a̶ (Northern Europe) from the valid votes cast.
True "democracy in 2020" at work :)
We haven't ignore all the other requests as plenty of time for us to add other packs in the future but for now we're getting all Scandinavian(<--- this was the first time I actually typed it and didnt have to fix the spelling error! The muscle memory on that will never come in handy again but hey glad you were here for that moment)
We dont have a solid date on this pack but expect it in the next 3-6 weeks.
