This is just a quick fix for a bug I found in the forge. :)
Bug Fixes and Changes 12/1/2022
Hello everyone!
As we continue into Early Access, I will try to limit updates to once per week so that people aren't overloaded with them. However, if any major bugs happen, I will release patches as soon as possible to fix them. If you run into bugs, please let me know either via the Discord, or game forums here on steam.
Thank you for your endless awesomeness and support!
Bug Fixes and Changes:
Furniture is now rooted when placed, so it can't be knocked over. It can still be deconstructed with F key.
Fixed an issue where the crate widget wasn't always closing when moving away from the crate.
Fixed an issue where some mobs weren't moving when loading in.
Fixed an issue where some items when loaded in were floating. Dense piles of stacked items may still look a little funky when loading, and this is simply due to how they organize themselves upon load.
Added further optimization to how items are loaded in from saved games. This should decrease load time between maps.
Mob AI has been improved. The Wamps are still dumb little frog-like things, but slightly less dumb. :)
Fibrous plants were respawning with too small scaling, this has been fixed.
Feature:
The hue of grass now changes gradually between night and day in response to the sun. Since the world is heavily influenced by the sun (especially red suns) plant-life can behave differently. Spores are releasing at night, which is why you have a high chance of going insane if you wander too long away from a fire source. If you dislike having insanity active, you can turn it off in the game menu.
As a final note, if ever you're trying to figure out what use an item might have, try scanning it with the Analyzer! The Analyzer can be used to find and unlock a number of blueprints. Or if prefer, you can build the Workstation, which has dozens of blueprints built into it.
Alpha Release!
After extensive testing, R'lyeh is finally ready to release to the public.
Chapter one opens up to the island of the twin sisters, introducing three major characters, story, over a hundred craft-related items, and three dungeons.
Welcome to your new and final home.
Chapter two will be expected to release within the next six months, with consecutive chapters following the same timeline thereafter. Of course, owning a copy of R'lyeh grants access to all six chapters as they come out, with no further purchase needed.
Since this is our alpha release, there may be some bugs here or there that we haven't caught. Please make sure to report them either in our Discord, or the proper channels in the Steam forum.
R'lyeh has been a huge passion project that I've worked hard on, with over 6000 hours spent in production. While I am the sole developer, I have had the pleasure to meet and work with some fantastic people along the way. from our amazing voice actors to our kickstarter backers and fantastic community, I couldn't have gotten here without you. This has undoubtedly been a collaborative work among us all.
Let's keep going.
Bug Fixes and Changes
Hello dear eldritch horrors!
Most of the recent changes are improvements and refinements, with some notable fixes listed below. We are expecting to release to Early Access any day now, just waiting on Steam for approval!
Bug Fixes and Changes:
Building steps and doors were sometimes invisible when loading in, this should now be fixed.
Building roofs and sloped walls had some issues with their scale when loading, this is now fixed.
Fixed an issue where respawning resources sometimes duplicated.
Forge has been better optimized.
Night cycle is now slightly shorter.
Bug Fixes and News
We're actively moving R'lyeh from UE4 to UE5.1! This will allow us much better control in optimization, among a swath of other fantastic attributes to continue to refine R'lyeh.
Bug Fixes and Changes:
Campfire is now easier to interact with when cooking. Was a bit clunky. Mushrooms and meat can both be cooked on a skillet placed on a campfire.
Fixed a bug where you can pick the tap up even though it's been attached to a mushroom tree.
Fixed tap not always orienting to mushroom tree properly.
Fixed issue with equipment physics not working properly when dropped/placed.
Dev Release: Bug Fixes and Updates
While we're waiting for the game to release to Alpha status for the public (expected within 1-3 days) we're always making further bug fixes and updates to improve R'lyeh.
Aside from further work on performance and quality of life, the following changes have been made:
Fixed a bug where the HandyPal wasn't responding when within the bounds of a trigger, such as a gateway.
Fixed collision for bell logs so they are always recognized by the craft bench.
Fixed an event outside the temple that sometimes caused player to freeze/unable to move.
Tweaked Wamp AI to better respond to attacks from the player.
Fixed an issue with poison sometimes not going away when no longer exposed to source.
Fixed an issue with sunsets going entirely black for about 20 seconds before night lighting triggers.
Cost of buckets has been reduced. Was 2 metal tubes and 3 planks, now 2 metal ingots and 3 planks.
Fixed a bug where player falling through temple floor sometimes didn't trigger entry to the temple map.
Fixed small items falling through the ground when placed on it.
New Item Interaction System
Fixed the overlapping issues with items and completely reworked how it functions. It should now be much easier to interact with items in the world, and give a slight reduction in performance costs. Please make sure to report any bugs you might come across. As with any update of this nature, they have a bit higher of a chance to show up.
Development Release!
It's been a long, crazy road, and R'lyeh is officially sending out keys to all of our backers and development testers. This initially phase is to get feedback for the game, find and fix bugs, and impliment changes based on suggestions and feedback.
Once we're satisfied with that, we will be releasing the Alpha version of R'lyeh to the public.
Expect frequent bug fixes during this time if you're a tester. If you'd like to offer feedback or bug reports, please do so in the appropriate channel on our Discord.
Welcome to R'lyeh!
Release Update
As R'lyeh draws closer to release, we're finalizing some backend work on systems and running plenty of debug tests. We went to ensure the game is vigorously tested before players receive it, of course. Currently, we're about a month and a half ahead of schedule and are hoping to run private player testing within a few weeks. Depending on feedback and (hopefully) minimal bug fixes, we could release the game to the public as early as July.
The initial release of the game will introduce you to the crash site and the starting island. Here, there are numerous secrets to uncover, dungeons, things to build, and things to try and survive. Not only will you need to be aware of your environment and the things within it, but also the day and nights. When the bloated red sun rises, you better hope you're ready.
There are six total chapters to be released over time, and we're looking at a chapter released roughly every six months. You only need to purchase the game once of course to receive access to all six. As the chapters become available, more of the open-world map will be revealed to explore at your leisure!
