The love/hate relationship with Dennis will continue in Road Diner Simulator. Dennis, by players in Gas Station Simulator often referred to as "Dennis the Menace" will continue his mischief at the road diner. It makes perfect sense, since the diner is just across the street. He will not only continue to paint stupid things on your walls, but also break things and annoy your customers.
Sure, you will be able to throw things at him to get him to leave, at least for a while, but there will also be new tools to deal with him at your disposal. For example, you will be able to call the local sheriff on him which will get rid of Dennis for a more extended period of time and comes with some interesting interactions when done multiple times.
Another new way Dennis found to make your life just a little bit worse is to come up with the bright idea to open a lemonade stand at your diner stealing some of your customers. As you can imagine, early on when you are struggling to establish your diner this isn't really helping things. But here is where things get really interesting. Sure, you can deal with Dennis the usual way trying to get rid of him as you would expect, but you can try another approach: be nice!
Yeah right… being nice to Dennis?!? It’s an option with some interesting outcomes. One of those is eventually befriending Dennis and have him help you rather than annoy you. Now isn’t that something!
There is more Dennis related stuff being worked on in Road Diner Simulator, special interactions between Gas Station Simulator and Motel Simulator when it comes to Dennis and a whole new set of opportunities we will fore sure write more about in the future. We just figured you might be interested that Dennis is still going to play a role.
There is an interesting DevLog regarding employees over at Gas Station Simulator that you might find very interesting as it will directly influence Road Diner Simulator:
You will also find some details about new things added to employees for Road Diner Simulator compared to the ones we now have in Gas Station Simulator. Have a read!
More customer variety is a common request for Gas Station Simulator and something we are keeping in mind. We already have plans for bikers in the future and now adding another customer group that is missing just got a lot easier for us: truckers.
Massive long haul trucks is just what we need. And the truckers themselves are always an interesting bunch. We initially wanted to have trucks on the gas station with special fuel pumps and dedicated parking spaces, but we ran into some serious problems with the system handling the traffic. It is something we created early on, but then made the mistake to add and add tweaks onto it. At some point later in the game’s development we realised that the way we set it up and then expanded it simply won’t handle large trucks properly - or anything that “bends” somewhere like trailers etc.
That is a mistake we didn’t make when creating the traffic system in Food Truck Simulator. While we used the Gas Station Simulator traffic system as a starting point there, we went into a different direction with it. And while there are no large trucks in Food Truck Simulator (yet), its traffic system already supports them. So since we are on a roll of stealing stuff from them, we will do it again. It will require some more work to make it play nicely in Gas Station Simulator, but we don’t really have a choice in the long run:
Yes, trucks and truckers are going to play a more significant role in Motel Simulator and since Motel Simulator, Road Diner Simulator and Gas Station Simulator will have mechanics supporting each other, some of the content from one of the games will inevitably have to spill over to the others. In this case having a nice gas station here will provide incentives to truckers as customers for the motel and thus they will have to show up on the gas station. That is going to be so cool! This whole “making these games work together” approach is something that we are really excited about.
Just a reminder, Food Truck Simulator is going to be available on September, 14th. There is an updated demo, so you have a look at the traffic system there. It's a tad more sophisticated, no question about it:
A lot is happening in and around Gas Station Simulator. With the announcements of Road Diner Simulator and recently Motel Simulator, we set the wheels in motion for new games set in the Gas Station “universe”.
Things are happening for Gas Station Simulator itself as well. Today we are announcing the first DLC for the Gas Station Simulator: Can Touch This. This DLC will introduce far reaching customization options for your gas station, workshop and warehouse.
From customizing walls and roofs up to changing position of windows, doors, trashcans or cash register, the DLC offers many new things that might catch your eye. Stickers that you can spray anywhere on your gas station, more interior & exterior decorations and also more levels and employees!
Road Diner will add a diner to the world of Gas Station Simulator and today we are announcing Motel Simulator will add a classic American motel there. Just like Road Diner, Motel Simulator will be very tightly integrated with both games and things you do on the gas station and/or at the diner, will influence the motel and vice-versa.
