First of all I want to thank everyone for all their comments, reviews, insults, hate and accusations towards me and my project (Sins of the Father). I have read every single line of remarks from everyone and I really appreciate it. I made a fucking crappy game. There’s no excuse for the project I made and putting it up on steam. I’m also glad that 90 percent of you requested for a refund and you are right for doing so and I’m glad you all got your refunds. There’s no excuse on my part and trying to defend the project is absolutely senseless. Having said this, I would also like to address a few accusations.
1.That I’m a fraud? Because I made a crappy game that you simply could have refused to buy? Or ask for a refund if it wasn’t what you expected?
2.I didn’t make a comment so I’m also a fraud. What do you say to a people who have only hateful things to say rather than give suggestions to help not only the developer but other developers as well? Don’t get me wrong, everyone is completely entitled to whatever the fuck they have to say but making personal hateful comments about the person outside his work is a little too far don’t you think? It’s a computer game people it’s not that serious you can easily choose not to vote or buy! I can also understand that passions are high and that’s great but why not keep it civil and move on? Why diss each other in the process of hating me. I have been accused of spam boting the greenlight process… really guys? And Valve won’t have suspended my account? That also questions the reputation of Valve and the entire Steam operation if this allegation was true.
3.Constructive criticism. Tell me how this is constructive criticism (will copy/paste a few):
“An open message to the developer, Robert Ayodole Mensah.
There is something wrong with you. I'm serious. There must be something extremely screwed up with your head to make you think that you can pass this off as a finished product. This is not a game. This can't even be classed as an early access game. In fact, the quality of the faeces you have shunted carelessly onto steam is so atrocious that it's actually impressive; The trash you have so loosly and carelessly thrown together defies all manner classification and explanation. I'm trying my very hardest to find the words that accurately describe this monstrosity and I am failing spectacularly. So bravo. Bravo to making something so unbelievably awful that it simply cannot be described in mortal tongue. Bravo, and ♥♥♥♥ you.”
Or:
“Dumb idiots like YOU are the reason steam is being ruined. What possible excuse do you have to defend a pathetic cash-grab like this, huh?
So because developing is hard, that means unfinished junk like this gets a free pass?
Please kill yourself.”
Or:
“If this makes it through greenlight, I WILL COMMIT SEPPUKU” I have one question though, have you plunged a knife into your abdomen yet?
These are but a few “Constructive criticisms” I have received. You be the judge.
4.I created a game and made it to steam. Yes the game is fucked up, yes the game was an epic failure and made almost nothing and yes you fucking HATE the game and me. I made it to steam. A lifelong dream of mine was to make a game and sell on steam and I did (apart from the sell part). My personal point is (I say personal because I don’t expect you to fucking understand or care) I got the chance to sell on the greatest PC gaming and sales platform in the world. I have a ton of experience now “first hand” about what it takes to sell on steam. And I will forever be grateful to those who voted me through the greenlight process for this experience and I’m sorry I let you down but thank you for the opportunity to learn from the community on what they like and HATE. I encourage every indie developer to try to get on steam because the feedback is awesome whether good or bad and the free exposure is amazing.
5.To all indie devs, don’t be afraid of the community. They actually mean well. Put your game up, get thrashed, improve and make something awesome. That’s why steam made greenlight, for the idiotic foolish devs like myself with a dream to be thrashed on by SOME people in the community who know absolutely nothing, love to talk and hide behind aliases to piss on others which is a reflection of how insignificant they feel in their real lives. But you need them for that unbiased feedback on your projects.
6.To the community. I sincerely apologize for not creating a good product. I fucked up and I appreciate all the comments. But your idea of “constructive criticism” doesn’t help put better indie games on steam. You claim that devs like me are destroying steam by putting “shit” up but how about “shitty people” like yourselves who have nothing to say but talk anyway? How are you improving the quality of the steam community in general? shitting on devs and accusing us of doing what we love (even if you HATE it) while all you do is shit all over steam with your “constructive criticisms” How are you better than us (indie devs)? I guess the devs and community are shitting all over steam be it games or comments or sarcasm or insults. We’re all making steam a very SHITTY place (poor steam).
7.Finally to everyone who expressed disappointment in my project without resulting to thrash talk and insolence or insult on my person, I say thank you and I’m truly sorry for making a stupid game without taking time to perfect a lot of things. I love games and I know I have a lot to learn thank you for pointing it out in the way and manner you did and to the rest, thank you for taking the time out to even say anything at all.
