Hello everyone,

We are finally here with the February update and we hope you are going to like the new content. If not, please let us know! We love your suggestions and we always keep track of your feedback. This past month, we’ve worked on making the factory starting process easier, more tools to earn money and a better way to manage your production. Let’s get into the details, shall we?

TWO NEW PRODUCTION MACHINES


We designed and created a better wick system that you can unlock to increase your production yield while you research for more advanced machines. This new version of the wick system produces almost twice the amount of plants and it looks very good placed in corners. You must check it out! 🙂



Seedling has always been a time-consuming process: With the seeder versions currently available in the game, workers have to do a lot of manual labour to grow seedlings and get them ready for the next step. Nevertheless, with this month's release, you will be able to unlock an advanced and more efficient version that can increase your yield and reduce the manual work of your robots.

FOUR NEW PLANTS


More plants, more fun. That’s why you can now grow four new Earth varieties in your factory. Our favourite is mint, but the others are pretty cool as well. All of them can help you diversify the production so that you can earn extra money.



PRODUCERS NOW CAN BE PRIORITIZED


Another interesting upgrade for this February release is the possibility to prioritize producers. This feature is accessible from the warehouse panel, where you can view all the producers and what they're producing, and you can also prioritize them. Workers will then focus on those that have a higher priority status. You can even filter producers by plant type and prioritize all of them at once! This is a highly requested feature to give you more control over priorities. Let us know if it meets your expectations!



CUSTOMIZE YOUR WORKERS


Now you can choose the look of your workers, and as a thank you for believing in Roboplant, we added a unique skin just for you. We plan to add more over the coming months.



NEW TUTORIAL AND ADDITIONAL SUPPORT PANEL


The new tutorial is finally out! Over the past months since the early access version release, we have received some complaints about the tutorial. We listened to them and we tried to design a more comprehensive one that is suitable both for those who are starting from scratch and those who just need additional tips.

In the new tutorial, every time you open a panel for the first time, you receive a message from Beebop. In this message, you can learn more about the panel and what it does and get useful tips on how it works. You can go back to this message by clicking the question mark icon on the top right corner of each panel.
This new tutorial might not be perfect yet, but we’ve come a long way from the first version and we would love to receive your feedback on this improved one.

BALANCING


Balancing is another important aspect of this release. During January, we made the mistake of making Roboplant too difficult to play. After we realized this, we immediately set to work on balancing the difficulty and making some aspects of the game easier and smoother.

This is what we did during February:

  • We reduced the amount of time workers spend managing the production
  • We reduced the time workers spend to refill their needs
  • We increased the refill per minute of relax machines
  • We decreased the vertical seeder performance
  • We reduced maintenance fees for construction
  • We reduced the usage of energy and water

Yes, it’s me again, I hope you are having a lovely day! Ok, this is officially the last update in the preview branch before the official February update. Hopefully, we will be able to release it next week and it will bring a lot of new improvements.

We have to start with the usual warning about this update: the new and cool features in the preview branch can be a bit buggy and not balanced perfectly. Also, they are not translated in all languages as we can only do big patches of translation at a time. We are sorry for this but we hope you can understand. You are truly helping us out by giving us feedback on these new features in preview mode and we are ever so grateful for that.

But let’s get straight to the heart of this update!

THE NEW ADVANCED SEEDER





Seedling has always been a time-consuming process, with your workers running around and helping grow the plants for the next step. With some good research, you’ll be able to unlock an advanced seeder. It will improve your efficiency, increasing your yield and reducing the number of workers you’ll need to grow seedlings.

FOUR NEW PLANTS





You can now grow four new amazing plants in your factory. My favorite is the mint, both in Roboplant and in real life 😀. But all of them look pretty cool, they will help you diversify your production and make some extra money.

THE NEW STARTING PATH



Starting a new game in Roboplant is not the easiest thing, many things to know and do while staying profitable. That is why besides providing a more clear tutorial we thought it would be easier to start with only two plants that can grow in the same room. This will also make the contracts easier at the beginning since they can only require one of those two plants.

There are more minor changes and fixes that have been added to this update. And yes there is something secret that I am not going to spoil for next week's update. So if you see it don’t say it 😉.

Instructions on how to change Steam branch:

  • In Steam, click on Library > Games.
  • Scroll down to Roboplant.
  • Right-click and select Properties.
  • Go to the BETAS tab.
  • In the dropdown, select the name of the branch you want to play.
  • In that same Properties window, go to the Local Files tab and press "Verify Integrity Of Game Files."
  • Your game will be updated to the new branch.
  • Launch and play Roboplant

PRODUCERS NOW CAN BE PRIORITIZED





Now, from the warehouse panel, you can view all of your producers, what they're producing, and prioritize them so that your workers focus more on those. You can even filter by plant type and prioritize all of them at once! This is a highly requested feature to give you more control over your priorities. Let us know if it meets your needs.

BALANCING


With the January update we made playing Roboplant pretty hard, we started balancing this off and this is what we did:

  • Reduced the amount of time workers spent managing the production
  • Reduced the time needed by workers to refill their needs
  • Increased refill per minute of relax machines
  • Decreased performance of vertical seeder


This should help you produce more with less time and therefore help you make more money. Come and complain if it’s still too unbalanced 😀

We are working on a new and more comprehensive tutorial, both for those that are starting from scratch and those that need additional tips.
Now the first time you open a panel Beebop will tell you a bit more about it, and if in case later on you need a reminder you can always click on the question mark in the top right corner.

Contracts Update out in the Preview Branch

Hello everyone,

We hope your week is off to a great start! It certainly is for us as we decided to release new features in the preview branch more frequently instead of waiting for the big monthly update to be completed. This means you can give us your feedback more often and we can make Roboplant better.

You are truly helping us out by testing the features in preview mode and we are ever so grateful for that.

But let’s get straight to the heart of this update!

NEW UI PANEL FOR CONTRACTS




We have improved the panel where you can review available contracts and accept them. Here below you can see the list of improvements for this new user interface:

  • You can now have a clearer overview of the available contracts
  • You can accept contracts faster
  • Each contract has maximum 3 required different plants
  • Contracts are generated with different difficulties that affect the money you can earn and the time available for completion
  • Contracts are added to the list with their timer already started even if you haven’t accepted them yet. This means that you won’t have enough time to complete some of them.


This update should bring a much-needed improvement to the contract panel usability. In the next coming months, we will also explore the topic of taking advantage of your reputation to get some extra cool things.



Last but not least, we also added a little improvement to the research tree which now shows a clearer overview of what is being researched, their status and what can be unlocked.

What is coming in the February update

Hello everyone,

We hope you are having a great time!

It’s time to talk about what’s coming in the next month's update!
We had already started working on what was coming with it, but we received a lot of feedback and suggestions and we had to make some adjustments.
Obviously, what we started already is coming as well, but the other ideas we had are now postponed to make room for what you are craving!

Here we will write down your main concerns and what we are going to do about them:

Better prioritization


As for now, there is no prioritization on production and it’s painful to watch your robots working on plants you don’t need instead of the ones you’re missing.

We will have a new type of prioritization. You’ll be able to choose in each machine if it should be prioritized over the other machines. So if you are in a rush to package some tasty strawberries you’ll be able to focus your workers on that task.

Better tutorial and UI


We are making the tutorial more clear while also adding more things, for example, how to prioritize your robots’ work and what expenses take place during the day.
We are also improving the Research Tree UI and we are making some changes to the contracts such as quantity, difficulty and balance.
This is a work in progress so if you have any suggestions or notice unclear things feel free to write to us!

Better performances


Well, this is an amateur error, what can we say 🙁
We are working to increase the performance while also adding different features, so every update will be a little bit better than the previous one. Unfortunately, we cannot improve the game all at once, else we won’t have time to fix or add things.
But don’t lose hope, we will get there!

Easier easy mode


In the previous update, we tried to make the mid-late game more challenging by increasing salaries and decreasing plant costs. Unfortunately, we didn’t test enough to see that with these changes some of you struggle to keep up at the start. But don’t worry…we are trying to balance that, starting with giving you more money!
We are also changing the daily expenses. Now you are receiving a notification at the end of each day with the total expenses for salaries, machine upkeeps, resources and more but we intend to change it from daily to hourly. The outcome will be the same but your money will be spent little by little instead of all at once.

More plants and hydroponic systems


This was not feedback (yet at least), but since it’s a hydroponic game, why don’t we add more plants and producers to spice up your planning a bit?
We would like to add 4 new Earth plants, one for each temperature! Now you won’t necessarily need to build 4 different rooms to grow 4 different plants!
And, we are also planning on adding two mid-level machines, one for the Seeder and one for the Wick System. This will make upgrading your factory more linear and rich.

Workers’ customization


For what was already in progress, we have workers’ customization. It was on our roadmap and already started when we shifted our focus to the things written above. But this is still coming!
For now, you'll be able to choose between two skins, the classic Beebops you already have, and a “Founder” skin which will see Beebop in its first prototype made by Roboplant Industries.
We obviously plan to add more fun and more skins in the future!

here another quick and urgent update with some fixes.

Changelog:

  • Fixed - Sometimes workers get stuck under the station when going to pickup resources.
  • Fixed - Starting money was a bit low making it really hard to start.
