Rocket League

US Central Server Region is Live

Hey folks! Starting right now, a new US Central server region is live in Rocket League! We know this has been a longtime ask from North American players, and we’re excited to bring the new region online.

Servers for Online Matches: Servers in US Central are located in Illinois, Iowa, and Texas. With the new region online, Illinois and Texas servers originally located in US East are now part of US Central. To check out the new server region, open the Casual or Competitive Cards in the Play Menu, select Regions, and choose US Central on the list.

Tournament Servers: With the new region coming online, the location of Tournament servers is not changing – US Tournament servers will continue to be hosted in Illinois, Iowa, and Texas as they’ve always been.

You can ensure you're seeing the correct Tournament schedule by going to Settings > Gameplay > Tournament Schedule Region. From there, players in North America should select US East, US Central, or US West to see the Tournament schedule best for them. After choosing one of the three US regions, the region listed on the Tournament Details page should appear as “US-Central.”

Thanks everyone, and let us know what you think of the new region once you have a chance to check it out!

A CITY OF CHALLENGES

Wear your favorite team’s colors with pride! There are ten different Season Mode-themed Decals you can unlock by completing City Slam Challenges.

Octane drivers, look explosive with the Bombers Decal, show off your fast driving with the Express Decal, bear your teeth with the Kodiaks Decal, or brandish your tusks with the Mammoths Decal.

If you prefer to step into a Merc, rule over the pitch with the Dragons Decal or defend your party’s honor with the Guardians Decal. Meanwhile, Dominus drivers can demonstrate their nobility with the Knights Decal, look ghoulish with the Phantoms Decal, or set their goal on obliteration with the Destroyers Decal. And we’re not forgetting Breakout, which becomes part of the pack with the Wolves Decal!

Challenges are even better with trophies. For taking down one of City Slam’s toughest Challenges (Play 20 Online Matches), you’ll earn a Golden Cup you can open in your inventory to unlock items from the Accelerator, Turbo, or Triumph Series. You can complete this Challenge up to five times, so clear your trophy case for five shining Golden Cups 🏆

For you extra competitive Soccar players, there’s also an unlimited Win 10 Online Matches Challenge that rewards a suspension-busting 20,000 XP each time.

CITY SLAM FOR A SPIN

When a team can be defeated, things get heated! Head to the City Slam tab of the Item Shop to browse Decals showing the Season Mode teams’ fiery passion for victory—an inferno of neon flames that light up even the darkest Soccar pitch. All the Decals below are animated!

The Wolves (City Slam) Dingo Decal is the perfect example, with fearsome fangs at the front and a blue blaze at the rear. Matching its primal energy is the Kodiaks (City Slam) Dominus Decal, which roars into the arena with all the ferocity you’d expect from a flaming bear.

If you really want to feel the heat, check out the Dragons (City Slam) Fennec Decal which sports a bright blue blaze that perfectly matches its mythological origins. The only thing that can go toe to toe is the Guardians (City Slam) Fennec Decal, which covers your Car Body in flowing lava.

If you’re after a paint job that won’t have you reaching for the air con, then look no further than the Bombers (City Slam) Octane Decal which trades fierce flames for shocking sparks. Equally shocking is the Mammoths (City Slam) Dingo Decal that’ll electrif-eye around the pitch. You may also want to consider the Express (City Slam) Octane Decal, which dials down the temperature but still dons animated smoke.

Your rivals will want to hit the brakes once they spot the Phantoms (City Slam) Dominus Decal’s sinister skull and the Destroyers (City Slam) Dominus Decal’s ominous glow. The Knights (City Slam) Dominus Decal isn’t for the faint of heart either, with an axe-wielding armored warrior that will help you “chop” your way to victory.

And remember, a team is nothing without its fanbase to cheer them on, so show your love with the “Need You” Player Anthem by Nostalgix.

Not sure who to support? Be every team’s biggest fan by picking up the City Slam Mega Bundle, which contains all the Item Shop City Slam Decals.

Keep a Favorite Extra Mode in Rotation with Dueling Arcade Playlist!

Hey everyone!

Following the release of the Arcade Playlists, we saw a lot of feedback about the desire to more meaningfully influence the Extra Modes in these slots. And while we understand some players want their favorite modes in the game permanently, it’s important that we balance the number of active modes to ensure high quality matches and reasonable matchmaking times.

Today we’re excited to introduce the new Dueling Arcade Playlist system to help address the above feedback. This new system allows the community to keep a favorite mode in the game almost indefinitely! Like before, there are two Arcade Playlists that rotate through existing Extra Modes. With the new system, the most popular mode after a week will remain available the next week, while the less popular one will cycle out and return at a later date.

If the two Extra Modes are generally unpopular on a given week, we’ll replace both the next week with Extra Modes we expect will be more exciting to the community.

What if there’s an LTM active? The LTM will replace one of the Arcade Playlist slots and the dueling Arcade Playlists system will be paused.

The first two Extra Modes in this new system are Speed Demon and Rocket Labs Medley. We hope this system helps you get more play time with your favorite modes!

CHANGES AND UPDATES

NEW MINIMUM LEVEL FOR COMPETITIVE PLAYLIST

  • To ensure that players are spending a reasonable amount of time acclimating to Rocket League before jumping into the ranked experience, we changed the minimum level requirement for the Competitive Playlist to Level 20 (up from the previous level requirement of 10).
  • In addition, we have changed the design that previously allowed players to play ranked if they were partied with an individual above the minimum level requirement. Now, no player below the level threshold (20) will be able to enter the ranked experience.
    • Party leaders with a member below the level threshold will see their playlist locked and will need to queue in the Casual Playlist.
  • Updated Minimum Level Messaging - To convey these new restrictions, players will see new messaging in Rocket League when queuing for the Competitive Playlist.
    • While solo (not in a party) the new messaging will read: “You must be Level 20 or higher.”
    • While in a party, the new messaging will read: “All party members must be Level 20 or higher.”
    • These messages will be displayed to any player who is below Level 20 / any party leader in a party with someone who is below Level 20.

DISABLING “LEAVE TOURNAMENT” BUTTON AT END OF MATCH

  • In order to prevent players from receiving negative consequences, such as temporary bans from tournaments/matchmaking, or losing earned tournament rewards, we will now grey out/disable the “Leave Tournament'' button at the 0:00 gameplay mark of Tournament matches.
  • This will ensure your rewards are earned and all data is properly populated so you can jump right into your next match.

Mandalorian Mayhem runs for two weeks starting February 7. We have spoken.

Higher Min Level for the Competitive Playlist and New Esports Shop Items Soon

As we’re a full month into the New Year, it's time for Rocket League’s first game update of 2024 and a look at some of what’s coming! Tomorrow’s game update adds a new anti-smurfing measure: a higher Competitive Minimum Level Requirement. The update also refreshes the Esports Shop for the Rocket League Championship Series (RLCS) 2024 Season. Read on for more details!
--

NEW MINIMUM LEVEL FOR THE COMPETITIVE PLAYLIST

We’ve seen a lot of community chatter lately around allowing players to bypass the minimum level required to play in the Competitive Playlist by partying up with other players. Smurfing is something that we know is frustrating, so we wanted to share a bit of the design philosophy behind that original decision and why we are making some changes in tomorrow’s update.

The Competitive Minimum Level Requirement was introduced when Rocket League became playable for free in 2020 and was meant to serve a couple of purposes. While we wanted to make it more difficult to smurf, one of the main goals was to make sure that new players were not blocked from playing with friends. The Casual experience back then was rife with early quitting and was considered by many as a less enjoyable experience.

We therefore made the decision to let players experience Rocket League in the best way possible at that time, with friends in the Competitive Playlist.

At that time we also started making changes to the Casual Playlist, with the goal of making it an equally enjoyable experience to Competitive play. We now feel we’ve reached that goal, and because of that, our thinking has changed around the need to allow players to bypass the Competitive Minimum Level Requirement.

In tomorrow’s update, the Competitive Minimum Level Requirement will be raised from Level 10 to Level 20, and now every player in a Party will need to be Level 20 or higher in order to queue for the Competitive Playlist. These changes are some of several gameplay improvements we are working on this year to minimize behavior that can lead to unfair matches.

Pave Your Own Path with Sovereign Krew: Aftermarket in Rocket League

Why should graffiti be reserved for the road? In Sovereign Krew: Aftermarket, the Sovereign Krew brings street art from the road to the Arena. Bring a taste of the outside to your next match with street-ready Decals and Wheels!

Sovereign Krew: Aftermarket is live now ‘til January 25—pick up these new items in the Item Shop while Sovereign Krew’s running the show.

The “Krew Made” and “Krew Loyal” Decals—both animated in-game!

Aftermarket Decals and Wheels

It doesn’t hurt to rep the krew that’s on top. With most of the new Decals, put the “SK” initials atop your car, surrounded by a street art-inspired design only SK’s capable of. The Krew Supreme Octane Decal features bold intertwined strokes while the SK Life Fennec Decal wraps your car in unapologetically stylized emblems.

You only have one chance to make a first impression, so make it count. The First Impression Breakout Decal is a canvas of different patterns—sure to make an impact. Don’t just break out with Breakout: the Sovereignteenth Dominus Decal is missing the “SK” initials… because it goes all out with the full “Sovereign Krew” moniker and a monster-like design.

Love the process of street art creation? The universal Krew Made Decal animates to show the making of classic Krew graffiti. Maybe you see potential in art beyond its completion—the universal Krew Loyal Decal waves like the surface of the sea. Keep keepin’ things in motion with the new Del Rey and X-Opps Wheels.

The RLCS Returns for 2024!

New year, new Rocket League Championship Series (RLCS) Season, and we've got all the details you need to get up to speed.

Read on to learn more about the format, schedule, and how you can sign up to play against the best players in the world’s most prestigious Rocket League tournament for a global prize pool of over $4,300,000.

STREAMLINING THE FORMAT

First up is the RLCS format, which is getting a new coat of paint for the 2024 RLCS Season. We’re increasing open competition, focusing on long-term sustainability, and widening prizing for more players than ever before.

The 2024 RLCS Season will have three in-person tournaments.

  • RLCS Major 1
  • RLCS Major 2
  • Rocket League World Championship

To qualify for each RLCS Major, there will be three online Open Qualifier tournaments in each region, for a total of six online Open Qualifiers in 2024. Each online Open Qualifier will now use a standardized format across the year. This change aims to provide clarity for both new and seasoned fans:

  1. Open Double Elimination bracket to determine the top 16 teams in each region.
  2. 16-team Swiss System to determine the top 8 teams in each region.
  3. 8-team Single Elimination bracket to determine standings in each region.

RLCS Points will be awarded to the top teams at the end of each Open Qualifier. After each Major’s 3rd Open Qualifier, the top teams in each region determined by their regional RLCS Points standings will qualify and compete internationally in the next in-person Major:

MAJOR QUALIFIED TEAMS

  • North America (NA): Top four (4) teams
  • Europe (EU): Top four (4) teams
  • Middle East & North Africa (MENA): Top two (2) teams
  • Oceania (OCE): Top two (2) teams
  • South America (SAM): Top two (2) teams
  • Asia-Pacific (APAC): Top (1) team
  • Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA): Top (1) team

Each RLCS Major will use the same standardized format as the Open Qualifiers, but with international stakes and extra RLCS Points to secure on the path to the Rocket League World Championship:

  1. 16-team Swiss system to determine the top 8 teams.
  2. 8-team Single Elimination bracket to crown a RLCS Major Champion.

After RLCS Major 2 ends, the top teams who earned the most cumulative RLCS points for the entire 2024 season in each region will be invited to the Rocket League World Championship to compete for the ultimate title - Rocket League World Champions:

WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP QUALIFIED TEAMS

  • North America (NA): Top four (4) teams
  • Europe (EU): Top four (4) teams
  • Middle East & North Africa (MENA): Top two (2) teams
  • Oceania (OCE): Top two (2) teams
  • South America (SAM): Top two (2) teams
  • Asia-Pacific (APAC): Top (1) team
  • Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA): Top (1) team

In addition,

  • Prizing distribution has widened significantly in all regions.
    • Each Open Qualifier will now award the top 128 teams cash prizes in both North America and Europe!
    • Each Open Qualifier will now award the top 64 teams cash prizes in South America, Oceania, and MENA!
    • Each Open Qualifier will now award the top 32 teams cash prizes in APAC and SSA!

  • The minimum age to compete in the 2024 RLCS is now 13 years old to further open the league for more players to compete in and win cash prizes.
    • Parent or Guardian permission will continue to be required for all minors to compete.
    • Each Minor that participates in any in-person event will require a Parent or Guardian to attend.
    • Coaches and Managers must be at least 18 years old.

  • The Esports Shop will also refresh early in the season with 30+ teams debuting new custom decals and player banners

Rocket League's Frosty Fest Returns for 2023!

The most wonderful time of the year in Rocket League is back! Frosty Fest is officially underway and running now ‘til January 3.

This year, we’re spreading the festive cheer with Challenges, wintry rewards (with some Golden Gifts thrown in!), and returning Limited Time Modes. It is the season of giving after all!

BREAKIN’ THE ICE: FROSTY FEST CHALLENGES AND REWARDS

If the season weren’t chilly enough, make it even colder with frosty accessories. Available until the end of the event, tackle 12 Frosty Fest Challenges to earn new Toppers, Antennas, a Decal, and more! Every Challenge has a reward for completion.

Is curling your favorite sport (besides Soccar)? Roll around the Arena with the Curling Stone Wheels. If you like keeping a spare, don’t leave the Curling Stone Topper behind!

Speaking of Toppers, use the Oh No Snowman Topper to fulfill a snowman’s melting wish of riding on top of a car. While the snowman sits atop, make it feel at home with the Mountaintop Octane Decal.

For completing one of the more difficult Challenges (Play 20 Online Matches), you’ll unlock a Golden Gift that pulls from the Impact, Secret Santa, and Accelerator Series. You can complete this Challenge up to five times, which means you can earn up to five Golden Gifts! 🎁

HOME FOR THE HOLIDAYS: RETURNING LTMS

A special time of year means special ways to play—the Winter Breakaway and Speed Demon Limited Time Modes (LTMs) are back for Frosty Fest.

WINTER BREAKAWAY (DECEMBER 13 - DECEMBER 20)

The Soccar ball gets subbed for a Hockey Puck in the Winter Breakaway LTM! Stay frosty while you throw down 3v3 on a snowy Throwback Stadium.

SPEED DEMON (DECEMBER 20 - DECEMBER 27)

Too cool to chill? The Speed Demon LTM is a lightning-quick variant of Boomer Ball with unlimited boost at double the power. With that in mind, expect plenty of collateral damage—but don’t worry about getting taken out too much. You’ll be back behind the wheel in no time with 1-second respawns!

There’s plenty in 2023’s Frosty Fest to keep you busy, so don’t get left out in the cold! Frosty Fest is back now until January 3.
