Birthday Update!

Rocket Rumble is having our first birthday today! It's been a whole year since we first released into Early Access on Steam and we're excited to celebrate this milestone! From now until the end of the month, use code BIRTHDAY in the Rocket Rumble shop to redeem your free birthday badge!


This update also comes with a whole list of changes and improvements!

  • New Logo
  • New Race HUD
  • Player Indicators based on Shape (for better accessibility)
  • Menu Mouse Support Added for both keyboard and Gamepad Players
  • New Sound Effects (Did that dog just talk?!)
  • New Powerup "Sugar Rush"

Hey Rocket Rumblers!



It’s been a while since we’ve done a blog post, but it’s not because we haven’t been busy! Over these past couple months we’ve been working on new tracks, new characters, new power ups and a ton of visual upgrades. Plus we’ve been hitting the road conventions! So strap in - we’ve got a lot to talk about!

New Tracks are in the Works!



We’ve got 4 more tracks in progress on top of the 4 we have now! We won’t share too much just yet but we’re really excited with how they’re turning out! Our Steampunk inspired track is coming along like clockwork and our next 3 tracks are just as exciting!



More Characters are Coming!



We love our faithful cast of animal racers, but we’re excited to say there will be more coming with our full release (TBA). Just like our current cast, new characters will be fully customizable with accessories, suit patterns and all the color options you can imagine!

More Power Ups!



We’ve been working on a brand new power up for Rocket Rumble. We had a lot of feedback asking for a boost item - so consider it in the works! Here’s a little teaser of what’s to come:



A New Look!



You may have seen that we got a brand new logo! We’re really excited with this new branding and we’d love to hear your thoughts! Let us know on Discord or Twitter what you think of this big update to our logo!



Plus, we’re in the process of changing some of the menus and UI elements in-game! We won’t spoil too much just yet but we’re confident it will make a big difference to the gameplay!

Hitting the Road..



We’ve been fortunate enough to be included in a few festivals so far this summer! It started with the Indie Live Expo and Glitch Future of Play Direct - 2 online events celebrating indie games. We then hit the road to Dallas and Toronto for DreamHack and Pocket Gamer Connects!



Back in June, we were off to Dallas in June to bring Rocket Rumble to DreamHack! We had an absolute blast at the convention, meeting a TON of amazing people and getting a ton of great feedback! The best part was getting to see everyone’s game faces while they checked out the game! We managed to grab a few shots:





Back in early July we headed off to Toronto for the Pocket Gamer Connects Conference! Especially after Covid, it was an awesome change to chat and exchange feedback with other developers - some of which we hadn’t seen in years and some we’d only met online prior to this! We managed to grab a couple shots from this as well:



Sci-Fi on the Rock



We also made a little appearance at this year’s Sci-Fi on the Rock in St. John’s Newfoundland! It’s always awesome when conventions want to support indie game studios so we’re super thankful for the spot! Keep an eye out on our social media for news and updates about upcoming events and conventions!



Game Development World Championship


We're excited to announce we were awarded 4th place for the month of June! This was largely in thanks to everyone who supported and liked our page! You can like our page too and check out the other amazing games involved in the contest by checking out the GDWC website!

New Ambassadors

GLITCH Future of Play Direct



We're excited to announce that Rocket Rumble will be included in this year's GLITCH Future of Play Direct! We will be featured alongside a ton of amazing indie titles and we can't wait for the fun to begin!

The online event starts at 10:30am PST on June 11th, and if you can't make it don't worry! The VOD will be uploaded to youtube after it ends! You can check out all the info about the event here!

Steam Racing Fest



We're excited to announce that we're participating in the Steam Racing fest! From now until May 30th, save 15% on Rocket Rumble, plus check out a TON of amazing high octane games!

Hey everyone!



It's been a while but we've been really busy these past few months working towards our full release! Check out these awesome updates plus get a peek at what's on the way!

Lighting Overhaul


We've updated the lighting on 3 of our current tracks! Asteroid Field, Holo Night and Caustic Canyon all got an eyepopping upgrade! These changes are available in our current build!



New VFX!


We've added brand new jet trails on the characters and updated some effects in the game, giving Rocket Rumble a brand new look! Plus check out a brand new finish line animation!



Holo Night Update


Holo Night finally features procedurally generated obstacles! Now you'll never have the same race twice on this track with an ever-changing layout!



Profile Preview


Now you can check out your profile banners and frames in a stylish new preview!



On the Horizon...



PixelNAUTS Account System


We're working on adding a PixelNAUTS account system to the game! This way you'll be able to save your progress across platforms once we have our full launch next year!

Profile Pictures


Profile pictures are coming to Rocket Rumble! Along with our new account system, we'll be adding profile avatars to the game. Instead of using Steam profile pictures by default, avatars will added to the game as regular items so you'll be able to earn and use your coins to purchase them in the market!

Loading Screen


We're updating our outdated loading screens to something a lot more fun and suiting for the game! Stay tuned for that coming soon!

Steampunk Speedway


There's a brand new level on the way! Named by our Discord community, Steampunk Speedway is the next track coming to Rocket Rumble. Featuring tons of gears and new track elements; we can't wait for this level to be available to play!



New Logo


We're not quite ready to show it off just yet, but Rocket Rumble is getting a brand new logo! Keep your eyes peeled for our new branding, coming soon!

Events

More Visual Updates and Track Randomizations!

Hey Everyone! We're back with another small update to Rocket Rumble! Our Art team has been working hard on some cool stuff (some of which we can't show you yet!). They have also been doing some makeovers to all of our tracks! Here’s a list of some of the changes in the current game:


  • New Post Processing Effects and color grading in Asteroid Field, Caustic Canyon, and Holo Night
  • Improved Visual Effects on Player Characters.
  • New Finish Line Cut Scenes and Track Transitions.
  • Brand new randomized track chunks for Holo Night! Plenty more combinations to race on!
  • The Player Profile Banner now has its own 3D menu. Customize your border and banner in a whole new dimension.
  • Various UI bug fixes
  • Memory and code optimizations
  • More Sound effects



Known Bugs:


  • Finish line cutscene sometimes plays after score screen animations
  • Characters occasionally invisible during finish line cutscene
  • Projectiles don't move up ramps correctly

NEW Visual Effects! (...and some bug fixes)

Hi all! We're excited to post this small, but very cool update! We've begun a revamp of some of the visual effects in the game! We still have much more in the works, but for now, have a taste of some of these new effects:


  • New Booster trails for all characters
  • more effects when racing/interacting with players and track.
  • New sound effects on the main menu! Nice and crispy!


Oh yeah and we also fixed some bugs...


  • Fixed UI bugs
  • Fixed bug where level and some XP information was not properly displayed on the main menu.
  • Removed "extra coin icon" from main menu and Profile leftover from Valentines Event.
  • Fixed Bug where the game would softlock after completing or would not run the tutorial level.
  • Fixed Bug where after a first local race, the track selection on the Track Vote Menu would not refresh for each local race thereafter.
  • Optimized some online interaction in the menu transitions.
  • Other minor bug fixes and optimizations.



Love Struck



Love is in the air...




Love Stuck is a brand new Valentine's Event coming to Rocket Rumble! From February 10th to 27th, you can join in the heartfelt fun right here on Steam.

The event features 4 brand new Valentine's missions which will unlock excusive Valentine's loot! Plus, collect candy hearts while racing which you can redeem for more exclusive items in the Rocket Rumble shop!



There's 9 new items to collect in all and they're only available for a limited time!
