Truthfully, didn't expect it to work so well


"Hello everyone. Nathan Rees, the creator and director here. I originally designed Rogue Invader to mimic a FPS, like those I play on my computer with Mouse and Keyboard. I didn't imagine the ability to properly convert Rogue Invader to a controller supported game. But, seeing it as one of the most requested features, the team knew we had to give it a go. I am happy to report that this old Keyboard and Mouse warrior actually likes playing with the controller more now. The player moves better with the thumb sticks, and in-game aiming has a very helpful auto aim that supports Rogue Invader's unique point of view. Looking forward to being able to show this off soon."

Rogue Invader v1.1 is finally here!



Difficulty Options!


You now have two difficulty options, Normal and Hard (the original way Rogue Invader shipped). Feedback was pretty clear that Rogue Invader was just too hard. That was a fair critique. We went through and re-factored everything for a normal less punishing experience. Let us know what you think!



Hack Bots in Combat!



If you are carrying the Combat Toolbox OR have the MacGyver trait, not only can you repair weapons and armor, but you can hack enemy turrets and bots and make them fight for YOU.



Improved Tutorial Level!



Made some changes to the tutorial level that should makes things clearer about the mechanics of the game. Following the instructions will give you a definite edge starting out for the first time.



Global Adjustments and Bug Stomping (of course)!




  • Big Tech and More Like Crap Dragon AMIRITE! Steam Achievements for should now properly register.
  • Added Tooltip in inventory screen when holding Combat Toolbox or having the MacGyver trait.
  • Updated Valhalla help screens when hovering over [?] icon in corners of screens.
  • Hazardous Surface Conditions now spawn less often in the early game.
  • During Ion Storms, lengthened the time between lightning strikes.
  • Factory Level shortened significantly. It was too long for an end game level with all that we throw at you. Plus conveyors and pits… fun times!
  • Other various bug fixes that only make the game more awesome!

This week marks 2 months since the release of Rogue Invader on Steam!

To celebrate, King Zeno has delivered a new BUNDLE and SALE through Feb 21st! What a benevolent overlord!

HOT FIX

We were able to track down a specific game breaking bug when going into the Factory from the Fortress. We've also included some balance changes based on player feedback and with the new lowered enemy HP.

BUG FIXES


  • Transition to Factory from Fortress game breaking error has been resolved with a new system in place.
  • Fixed potential area in Outpost where player could get stuck in free-fall near lower ramp.


BALANCE CHANGES


  • Raised heat from 1.25 to 1.3 on Laser Splitter Mod
  • All MED ammo weapons start with 3 mags
  • Elite Rifle now has a flat damage of 3
  • Elite Rifle heat raised from .8 to .9
  • Elite Rifle mag size lowered from 8 to 7
  • Pulse Cannon - Max Damage Lowered by 1. Range now 4-5
  • Pulse Cannon - Mag size lowered from 10 to 8
  • Terran Sniper - Max Damage Lowered by 1. Range now 5-6
  • Lowered spawn rate / chance of all enemies in early game.

Rogue Invader - Update 1.0.32



Upscale Graphics Fix

This update addresses the common graphic issue where the game wold not properly upscale the graphics causing very noticeable flickering and image tearing through-out. This update should eliminate this issue all together. We will be updating the Graphic fix instruction to coincide with this update on the Steam discussions.

Balance Changes


  • Slightly lowered cost for Barrier Shield Disruptor
  • Slightly lowered cost for Terran Rifle
  • Slightly lowered cost for Grenade Slot Upgrade
  • Slightly lowered enemy spawns from early game locations
  • Lowered Zeno HP by 1
  • Increased Player Base HP by 1
  • Added higher chance to spawn better loot tech in early game
  • Clues to Surface Battery Entrance are more visible


Various Bug Fixes


  • Fixed an issue where context menu interactions would not render after landing from anti-gravity grenades.
  • Identified a possible issue causing lift to Terrace transition to get stuck. Implemented a safety fix.
  • Identified a possible issue causing entrance to Factory transition to get stuck. Implemented a safety fix.
  • Terran Heavy overheat behavior now matches the behavior of other Terran weapons.
  • Non-Shield Terran helmets and armor no longer show Shield Upgrade HP on the battle report.


Let us know what you think about the balance changes, especially in the early game. This should make it not as grindy and difficult, while maintaining the challenge. Thank you, and happy invading!

Hot Hot Fix


  • Added more safeties for lag or slow load times going into Underground or Factory. This should prevent the rare case of the soldier falling to their death during loading.
