Price to be SLASHED!

Greetings, unruly rogues!

It's been a long time since the last announcement, but we have some good news.

Later this week, probably Friday, we'll be reducing the price of Rooks Keep by a significant margin.

The price will be "decapitated" by around 50%, halving the entry fee for mass arena slaughter!


So if you've considered slaying or being slain by malcontent beasties for your respective kingdom, what better time than now to leap into the fray in hopes of keeping your enemy's head slightly less attached to their body.

Dedicated Server Shutdown/Decapitation.

Greetings rogues and lords alike.

We regret to announce that the official Dedicated Server for Rooks Keep will be shut-down at the end of June.

Due to a lack of interest and a fairly small player-base, there is not enough activity to warrant the continued expenditure and maintenance.

Online multiplayer and all other forms of Multiplayer will still run just as before, there will however be no official server to join.

Thank you all, and keep battling the AI hordes. The tide MUST be stemmed!

We're taking a break!

Greetings everyone!

So, another year has passed by, rather rapidly at that. We managed to get VCD into Early Access, updated it regularly, got Rooks Keep out onto Steam, set up our business and company and were generally ultra-busy. We even managed a prototype or two when we weren't working on VCD (usually in the evenings or weekends)!

All this is basically to say, "we're going on break for a few weeks"! We'll be keeping an eye on things to make sure nothing serious pops up, and fix it if it does.

With some time off, we'll be able to do some renovating around our "office" and spend some time fleshing out a couple prototype ideas we have. Once we've completed VCD, one or two of those will become our next focus.

And of course, we can't depart without saying thanks to our excellent fans and community! Thanks for the feedback, the kind words, the videos and pictures and, most of all, thank you for finally toppling those tyrannical Kings!

Update v1.1; Steam Workshop!

Ahoy, you man-beast slaying tyrants, I bring great news!

After a long time(and a ton of effort), we at last implemented Steam Workshop support for Rooks Keep.

Now there may be a few issues, and some things to improve over time, but otherwise everything is working perfectly.

Be sure to read over the guide we put together over on the Viscera Cleanup Detail forums to see how it all works.

We'll add more info and the like as the need arises. As well as migrate the guide to Rooks Keep.

For now though, tear into that beast like a Knight who's nibbled on a few too many mysterious woodland herbs!

We're out of Early Access!

At last! Many apologies for how long it's taken. VCD and lot's of biz work got in the way :\

Anyway, RK is out and causing havoc in the arena right now! We've got a server up and Workshop support should be coming next week as we get it going for VCD as well.

Release Date 5th December

Greetings to all squires and gladiators alike!

First up, apologies once again on the lack of, well...anything.
We've been hard at work on Viscera Cleanup Detail for the most part, but also we've been diving into Workshop Support, a tough beast for sure!

At any rate, we've decided to go ahead and finally release Rooks Keep good and proper on the 5th of December!

Workshop Support for Rooks Keep will be released once we've got it figured out and working...no sense waiting until then.

Both Viscera Cleanup Detail and Rooks Keep will be receiving it around the same time, so whenever that's done we'll patch it into Rooks Keep.

For now, keep fighting the good fight and protecting the kingdom from all the dangerous foes that want to lop off your poor King's head!

Rooks Keep Status Report #2

Well, it's been a while once again.

At any rate, we're closing in on a proper Rooks Keep update.

We've got achievements in and are currently working on workshop support.

We hope to have that done soon, VCD is keeping us a little occupied at the moment, so we'll dedicate time to finishing Rooks Keep as best we can.

Until then, which will hopefully be soon, keep those shields up!

Rooks Keep Status Report

Hi everyone!

First up, we apologize for the lack of updates, and general announcements about progress made on Rooks Keep.

Recently we've been pretty heavily tied up with other things, such as Admin work, Viscera Cleanup Detail updates, very unforgiving Mac support challenges, Rooks Keep dedicated server issues, etc.

As it stands, our small team of 3 has been reduced to 2, as the third has been heavily inundated with admin work for a while.

Nonetheless, we've made some progress.

The latest version of Rooks Keep (v1.07) fixes a stubborn problem with the server browser that's been causing crap.

We also have a Dedicated Server setup now, so anyone can join at any time.
It still has some issues, but we're looking into those.

Going forward we'll be adding achievements to Rooks Keep, releasing it from the clutches of Early Access, and hopefully getting some more players in-game.
We'd like to get Rooks Keep to support Mac as well, but realistically it's a gamble at this point, so time will tell.

Update v1.06

Hi everyone!

A quick update to here with a few fixes. Nothing major, mostly to do with bots being bad little buggers! Anyway, changelog below:


  • Fixed players being able to remain invincible by switching characters quick enough to exchange an injured character for a fresh healthy one.
  • Fixed bots being able to spawn with characters they shouldn't be able to afford yet.
  • Fixed bots starting with characters from the wrong faction when in a faction locked game.
  • Improved initial 'Refresh' success rate for Server Browser.
