v1.0.7 - Release
A new Virtual Reality version is now available!
I’ve finally added VR support on avdl - my programming language - allowing me to compile projects for the Oculus machines.
At the time, only the Quest 2 is officially supported, but given that this is a free and open-source game, feel free to try it out on any other oculus hardware. Any feedback is greatly appreciated!
General improvements on performance, should mean the game can now run on even weaker hardware. I’ve tested this with a very old laptop of mine and the game runs without error or lag!
Update v0.4.0
New build uploaded, that organised the game a bit better. It also added a variety of features:
15 completed cards with artwork.
1 new background environment.
5 different AI opponents.
15 different stages to complete, each with increasing difficulty.
The game now features Steam achievements! Can you get them all?
Implemented “Optional effects”, which allow the user to discard another card, to increase the effect of their current card.
The first few levels now show less cards, making it easier for the user to get used to the game, before introducing cards with more complex effects.
Despite all the new features, the new binaries for Linux and Windows are almost half the size of the previous version, thanks to some optimisations (from ~40MB to ~20MB).
New text rendering for "Rue"
From rendering 3D meshes as text, the game "Rue" will now be using 2D fonts, which are easier to read, and allow a bigger selection of characters.
This is also the first step to make translating the game into multiple other languages.
