Hello everyone! This is Wolfgang from Poppy Works. We're happy to announce that we are working with Faux-Operative Games to update and maintain Ruin of the Reckless on Steam and console platforms.
Since adding achievements, we needed to rework the save system entirely. Your old save games will not function with this new update. However, you'll have a lot more to show for your accomplishments!
We're incrementing the version of the game on Steam, as we've added new features and API functions for Steam and Discord.

User Interface (HUD) redesign
The new interface is designed to give the player greater feedback when taking damage.
A quick glance at the new UI will immediately give the player all they need to know about thier current status.
The new UI will not reflect all remappings yet, this will come in a rapid patch.
Planned updates:
Adding Japanese language,
Adding Korean language.
Upgraded and converted the entire codebase/game to Gamemaker Studio 2, up from Gamemaker Studio 1. This should make the game a little bit more future proof.
Xbox, PlayStation and Nintendo system compliance integration
Reworked the input system to be more stable.
Fixed audio loading issues.
Fixed several crash bugs.
Ruin of the Reckless Update!
Hi guys, today we have a little gift for our community in the form of a free mini-expansion which has already been uploaded to Steam!
This update adds some new hero monsters, cards, new AI behavior for the Skullslimes, and a few QOL an optimization updates as well.
We've just pushed a new patch for Ruin of the Reckless to Steam! (Version 1.03A)
It includes the following changes.
Language/Translation
Russian Translation added (kinda.)
Alright guys, so we did add a Russian translation, and it does work. However, it is far from complete, and needs quite a bit of troubleshooting and fixes. For that reason, it is not accessible via the normal menu from within steam. If you want to try it out, you'll need to go into your game directory, run 'RotRLanguageChooser' and select Russian from the list.
Please note, we are fully aware of the various formatting issues with this translation (they are mostly caused by the fact that Russian simply takes up a lot more space than English does. If you want to best possible Russian language experience, I recommend you wait until our later fully vetted Russian language patch is released.
Bug Fixes
1) Fixed a bug that prevented co-op players from starting the game via the 'main lobby warp portal' located at the top of the stairs.
2) Fixed a bug which caused orb icons to get 'lost' underneath the floor timers.
Optimizations
We implemented a TON of optimizations under the hood. Please note, there are more optimizations planned for a future patch, and we do want to eventually remove all slowdown in all areas. For now, the changes in this patch should significantly reduce slowdown for those of you that have been experiencing it. Again, more changes are planned at a later date to resolve what remains of the slowdown issue for those users that are experiencing that. Happy hunting!

A new 'Memorial Day' Patch has been released. Version 1.02D contains the following changes:
Language/Translation
1) Added Portuguese Language Option. To Try it out, right click 'Ruin of the Reckless' in your Steam Library. Select 'Languages' and choose 'Portuguese' from the drop down menu. :) (Special thanks for Miguel Pitali for the fantastic translation!)
Please note, I do not speak Portuguese. There could be issues with this translation that I am completely unaware of. If you speak Portuguese, please give it a try!
Bug Fixes
1) Fixed a very rare error that caused some users to be unable to select 'keyboard' for player one when they don't have a gamepad connected. (hopefully!)
2) Fixed an error which caused Reginald (the shopkeeper) to say a certain line of dialogue when he should not have said it.
3) Players can no longer enter the tutorial area while playing co-op.
4) Optimizations for several game elements that were causing undue slowdown/ hardware stress.
Balance Changes
1) Chests no longer drop zenny.
Visual Updates
1) By popular demand... added new icons for 'Enter' and TAB' to Loss text while inside the tower.
2) When players run out of time on a floor, a new visual effect will be shown (exclamation point), this allowed us to eliminate the "this floor is becoming unstable text" which we found to be distracting, confusing, unclear, and also obstruct the action of the game sometimes.
3) Long Chaos Card descriptions will now scroll on the Chaos Mat... preventing ugly text formatting errors.
4) Eliminated an error that caused the player reticle to fail to draw in situations where it should have drawn (like while jumping.)
5) Orb Icons now 'wrap' downwards rather than extending infinitely into the abyss of the opposite side of your monitor.
6) 'Scholar' now shows one orb for each orb you collect, instead of two. This just cuts down on visual clutterl.
What's next
The next major patch will be focused on performance, making changes which should reduce slowdown for those of you that have been encountering it. We will also be adding support for Russian and Spanish language as well. The patch after that will (hopefully) add achievements.
New Beta Test Version Available! (adds Portuguese + many fixes)
Hello friends,
We have a new beta version for you all to test (Version 1.0.2D.) This version includes many fixes and tweaks listed below.
To try out the patch, right click on 'Ruin of the Reckless' inside your steam library, select 'Betas' and then select 'public_beta_branch' from the drop down menu.
Language/Translation
1) Added Portuguese Language Option (to enable this, go to the install directory of the game, launch RotR Language Chooser, and select Portuguese from the launcher. RotR will now launch in Portuguese, YAY!)
Please note, I do not speak Portuguese. There could be issues with this translation that I am completely unaware of. If you speak Portuguese, please give it a try and help us get this ready for the community at large!

What's next:
Once we have verified that this new patch is stable and working for all of our testers we will move on to MAJOR OPTIMIZATIONS throughout the entire codebase. Our end goal being to eliminate 100% of the slowdown experienced by any users in all situations. On certain low end systems this may be a bridge too far, but we are confident that we can fix the vast majority of slowdown issues that some of our users are reporting.
Patch 1.0.1B has been released (Adds UltraHD support)
Hello everybody,
with some very small tweaks and additions (listed here) the full patch from the last update has been pushed to live.
The changes listed will take effect at this moment for all Steam players.
When you open your game and get past the title screen, look in the bottom left of the screen, it should say "1.0.1B" that will tell you that you are on the latest version. (You may have to close Steam completely and re-open to make sure the patch is discovered.)

Major Additions
1) Added ultraHD support! In either fullscreen or windowed, if your monitor is high enough resolution to support it, the various available resolutions will automatically scale 2,3,4, etc... times up until they are the maximum possible size for your monitor.
2) Enabled players to use the 'keyboard confirm' OR space, OR enter to navigate game menus (previously was just 'enter')
1) Nerfed Technician so that it doesn't spawn 'quite' so many awesome items all the time.
2) 'Wizard' Chaos Card now starts the player with a mana-stone in addition to the normal equipment allotted.
3) Dino slimes 'puddle attack' now moves 25% slower and makes a distinctive warning noise. Hopefully this cuts down on some of the unfair feeling deaths. (New Change)

1) Remixed certain game sounds to be more balanced in terms of volume.
2) Fixed an error that caused Dino Slimes to crash the game if they tried to eat a skill orb the player was currently absorbing.
3) Fixed an error that caused spirit tether to get stuck on walls in certain situations...
4) Fixed an error that allowed Dino Slimes to steal your weapon in situations where they should not have.
5) Fixed an error that caused Dino Slimes to transform stolen weapons that had previously been uncursed by the player into other weapon types.
6) Fixed an error which could cause a crash if the player drank 8 jackal potions and then got really high in the tower.
7) Fixed an error that caused the player to appear to pass 'under' walls when taking the elevator up to the next floor.
8) Fixed an error that, under rare circumstances, caused monsters to sometimes fail to spawn on certain floors.
9) Probably a bunch of other tiny stuff i'm forgetting.
10) (hopefully) fixed a crash that was caused when some users picked up the trap card inside the first boss room. (New Change)

This will include many fixes for issues players have reported, increased compatibility, increased optimization as well!
Ultra-HD support may not be in this upcoming patch but it will be in the next on after that if I have anything to say about it!
