Our latest update is now available on the beta branch! This update includes a ton of new changes and content such as village islands, throwing bombs and knives, female character models, new quests, and localization.
The localization part of the update is still a work in progress and so you may find some words that are grammatically incorrect. If you are playing in a language other than English and find problems with the localization, please report them to us so we can get them fixed. You can use the in-game bug report tool to send any us any issues you find.
For now, it will not auto-detect your Steam language setting, so in order to change languages, you will have to go into interface tab of the in-game settings to change to your desired language.
If you wish to join the beta branch, you can find instructions on how to do so here. Please keep in mind the beta branch will likely contain bugs and balancing issues.

Update Preview: Village Islands, Bombs, and More
Ahoy mateys!
We are hard at work on the next update and we wanted to give you a preview of what you can expect coming down the line. We don't have an exact estimate on when this update will be available, but it will probably hit the beta branch within the next 4-8 weeks. Let's dive in!
Village Islands
In the next update we'll be introducing a brand new island type we are calling Village Islands. Unlike Seaport Islands which mostly just contain merchants, these islands will contain villages with homes where the townsfolk have set up their permanent residence. You'll be able to talk to the villagers, learn the history of their community, go on unique quests, and get some unique rewards. These are primarily self contained to the island and have a much more hand-crafted feel than other content in the game.
Throwing Knives and Bombs
We'll also be introducing a brand new weapon type in the next update we are calling throwables. To start, we are adding throwable bombs and throwing knives. Bombs will have a fuse time and do a large area of effect damage, useful for blowing up pirates when they are in a group. Throwing knives will be a much more stealthy approach and do a lot of damage but require careful aim. Along with these weapon types we are introducing a new throwable skill tree so you'll be able to unlock unique talents along the way.
Female NPC Models
The next patch will also include female NPC models. Now you'll occasionally find pirates, merchants, and quest NPCs that are females.
Ship Wheel Mechanics
In the next update we are also adding the ability to lock your ship wheel position. Currently the ship wheel auto rotates back to center when you let go. While this might be fine for some sailors, others may prefer more control and want to be able to leave the wheel in its position to maintain an angle or certain direction. We've added a way you can now lock or unlock your ship wheel while using it, allowing you to decide on the fly whether you want it to auto recenter or not.
Content Coming In A Later Update
Although this won't be included in the next update, we are also working on localization and cooperative multiplayer. Both of these are going well and we will need your help in testing both localization and multiplayer once those updates go live.
As always thanks for reading and we'd love to hear your feedback.

Update: Main Quest Act 3, New Ship, Crafting Updates, Salvaging and More
This update introduces act 3 of the main quest, a new ship, crafting updates, item salvaging, and many more additions and bug fixes.
Main Quest Act 3
This update wraps up the main quest line with act 3 of the main quest. This includes the addition of several new locations to explore, bosses to kill, and items to obtain.
New Ship
A new ship is available, but it can only be found after you have completed act 3 of the main quest. It is the largest ship yet, with multiple floors to deck out with decorations that you have looted and crafted during your adventures.
Island Changes
As is often the case with updates, some islands may have changed slightly since you last visited them. Of special note, large islands have more visual variations affecting their foliage as well as the shape of their terrain.
Crafting Changes
There have been a number of minor changes to crafting recipes and their results. The number of food and potion recipes have been reduced overall. The ones that remain have had their effects slightly improved with larger stat increases as well as increased duration of their effects. Note that if you have previously learned a recipe that is no longer obtainable, you will still be able to use that recipe for now.
Many crafted weapons and armor now have a crafted bonus. This is a small benefit on top of the normal stats and talents that the item can have.
Parry Indicator
There is now a small parry window indicator that appears near the center of your screen. This indicates that you are in the parry window of an enemy's attack. Blocking while this indicator is active and before the strike lands will parry the enemy's attack. This indicator can be turned off in the in-game options.
Item Salvaging
As an alternative to selling excess weapons and armor, you can now salvage them. This destroys the item and grants you a few random resources, depending on the quality of the item. You can find the salvage option on an item, if it has one, by clicking to inspect the item in your inventory.
Keyboard/Mouse Quickbar
For keyboard/mouse users, the four quick slots have been replaced by an eight slot bar.
Future Updates
In addition to the playable content and changes in this update, we are still working behind-the-scenes to add co-op multiplayer support to the game. There is still no ETA on this, but it is progressing well.

Update Preview: Main Quest Act 3
Ahoy mateys!
We hope you all had a good holiday season and are enjoying the new year. We're currently making great progress on the next update and we wanted to go over what you can expect in the next patch and when you can expect it.
Main Quest - Act 3
One of the major features of the next patch will be the third and final act of the main story. This act will conclude the story of the Silvervale Sanctuary and their battle against the Hand of Chaos. This act will also introduce a handful of new quests, brand new and unique points of interests, and new weapons and loot.
Crafting Improvements
Another focus of this update has been to improve the crafting experience. As part of this goal, we've added the ability to salvage weapons and armor. Now, almost all weapons and armor can be salvaged into crafting materials. The higher the rarity of the item, the better chance at rare materials. In addition to this, we've reduced the number of craftable weapons and armor. We realized it was a way too bloated and most of the gear you could craft wasn't all that interesting compared to gear you could just loot. So to remedy this, we reduced the pool of craftable weapons/armor, but added something called a "Crafting Bonus" to craftable gear. This means that crafted weapons and armor will essentially have a guaranteed talent of some kind in addition to their normal talent rolls, making them a bit more appealing to craft.
We've also made some improvements to the crafting user interface. Now you can click on an ingredient in a recipe, say a copper ingot for example, and it'll immediately take you to the recipe for that ingredient, provided it's at the crafting station you are working on.
Combat Improvements
In the next patch we are including some improvements to ragdoll physics, a new attack animation for enemies, and improvements to parrying. Parrying difficulty will now be tied to your combat difficulty setting and we've added a parry indicator that pops up the moment at which the parry window starts. This should help the learning curve and make it easier to predict when to parry an enemy. This indicator can be turned off in the settings as well.
Quest Locations In Your Journal
One feature we've seen requested a lot is the ability to see the location of quest coordinates in your actual quest journal instead of having to find the relevant map in your inventory. We're happy to say this will be a feature in the next update and in addition to seeing the coordinates for the quest, you'll also be able to click on a button in your quest log that will open up the map and put a waypoint at the quest location, provided you have the relevant map in your inventory or at least in your ship storage.
Steam Achievements
The next patch will also include Steam achievements. We've added over 30 new achievements to for you to unlock, some of which will be part of your normal adventure, but others will require you to explore every nook and cranny.
Performance Improvements and Steam Deck Compatibility
We've also been working hard at improving performance in this update, particularly at certain points of interest. In addition to that, we've been improving performance and compatibility on the Steam Deck and hope to be fully verified soon.
Multiplayer Progress
We are also still consistently working on multiplayer and that progress is coming along great. Right now we are working on syncing up dungeons and caves and making sure scene transitions work correctly. So far we've got ships, weather, enemies, loot, animations, the ocean, and the day/night cycle syncing up so it's starting to be very playable.
We still don't have an exact timeline on when you can expect multiplayer to be available but we do feel like we're getting close.
We expect this update to hit the beta branch within the next 4-6 weeks. As always thanks for reading and we'd love to hear your feedback!
Update - Volcano Islands and Flintlocks
In this release, we've introduced some new content and features, as well as addressed various bugs. Your feedback is incredibly important in helping us improve the game, so do keep it coming.
Volcano Islands
A new island type can be found. Here you can find some new caves, challenges, and treasure.
Flintlock Pistols
A new ranged weapon is now available: The flintlock pistol. While a little slower than the bow, it can pack a punch at range with the right stats and talents. A number of different varieties can be found scattered throughout the world. Use them to work up your Marksman skill and unlock new talents.
Other Development
Along with the new accessible content, we are continuing to work behind-the-scenes on implementing co-op multiplayer where you can adventure across the world of Salt with your friends. It will still be quite a while before it is ready, and we don't have an ETA. However, good progress is being made.
A new game does not have to be created to experience the new content in this update.
