Scatteria

What happened to the development?

There has not been any updates on Scatteria for two whole years.

I am sure many of you thought the development was abandoned?
Answer is not really, I am still really passionate about the project.

Short summary what has happened in these past years:

  • Hard drive failure. My main development PC hard drive was totally broken.
Luckily I had the source code on repository, but some stuff like levels, sounds etc was not in those (due to the size)
  • New day job. The game development was not financially supporting me or my family. Spare time for developing Scatteria was cut.
  • Becoming a father. spare time was cut even more. (really about all of it).
  • I heard also that there was some global pandemic? (well, I survived so let's put this in the excuses basket).

The online version is not supported anymore. There were some major updates on the server provider / 3rd party plugin update. This, with the source code issues, it is very hard to get the online version back to work.

Good news?

I am working on the game again (with the limited time I currently have).
I will be making 90% of the code again, using some snippets from the old code base.
The character controller is nearly done with new features like wall jump, double jump, jetpack + swimming etc.

For weapons new stuff coming is melee attacks and maybe grenades. The player can now grab items from the environment, such as explosive oil barrels.

For the single player mode I am planning to have some sort of roquelite, sandbox etc version. Too early to say anything more about this.

I would love to give some better working version as soon as possible. I can't really give any estimates. Q1 2023 hopefully?

ps. the game is currently on 80% discount, maybe grab it for the future?

0.45 patch is out!

There is now a new weapon to fight against the zombie soldiers! Good Ol' Rusty Revolver, cant hit a barn wall with it but its very very powerful! So use in closer combat or do you feel lucky?

Also the new Snowy Hills is a small level with a lot of enemies coming at you! No place to hide, so it will be one of the most challenging levels so far!

Minor Update:

  • The weapon & ammo pickups now have an indicator, which tells what you picked up!
Also damage made and received is shown too.

Bug Fixes:

  • [Fixed] Spawning problems in Shooting Ground + Bunker levels. Now doesn't always spawn in the same position.
  • [Fixed] Submachine gun had 18 max bullets per clip instead of 22.
  • [Found/Todo] Two Players using the same keyboard, aiming up/down has jittery issues.

------------
Now I am going to start doing the next update, 0.50 Beta.
Which will have:

  • All levels to be playable in Single Player Mode.
  • Really requested feature: Melee Attacks!
  • Make a better weapon spread system (better accuracy while aiming, less while running etc).
  • New levels & Weapons!

No promises on estimated date, I am so bad at estimating how much the development takes, but I am aiming around July/August.

Finally I want to thank you guys for the feedback and support I've been receiving!
It's been super motivational!

Thank you!

0.4 SinglePlayer Alpha Update: Released! With a 40% discount!

The version took way longer than originally expected due to many ongoing situations but after a lot of work, I am so proud to announce that Scatteria is finally playable as a single player.

This first single player alpha update contains currently 6 single player levels. There is some work and improvements to do with the A.I pathfinding and when it's done, all of the rest levels will be playable too.

This update also contains:

  • New Level: The Oil Rig. (Most likely the coolest level so far)
  • New Weapon: Assault Rifle (my personal favorite)
  • Improved bullet graphics (more juice!)
  • Way More Blood!
  • Lots of small bug fixes and a couple bigger optimizations.

Hope you enjoy the game! Please consider giving your honest opinion and leave us a review.

0.30 Alpha version is live

The newest 0.30 alpha update of Scatteria is live! This update contains one single player level, changeable inputs + a lot of bug fixes.

Currently the A.I is pretty simple but it is actually pretty effective and challenging on the battleground level. My main development goal is now get the game to be playable in single player in all levels. The A.I Pathfinding will be the biggest challenge because of the destroyable environments etc. There is some real challenges with it.

I am aiming to get the basic A.I to work in January 2020, on Update 0.40. But cant make any hard promises with the dates. Anyway the single player is the first priority now and I am trying to get it done asap.

Meanwhile you can enjoy the first single player level as proof of concepts.
