Hello everyone! We're here today to talk about our proposed re-brand for the game, "SCP: Insamnium"
As you guys might've known, we posted an update to our Discord server a few days ago, proposing a re-brand (rename) for our game because our current name "The Paranormal" didn't quite fit our vision of the new theme/story of the game. So we decided it would be a good idea to rename the game. After some thinking, our dev team decided that the name "Insamnium" (meaning a hybrid of the word "insane"/"mentally unstable") on Latin, would be perfect as it fits the game's new story/theme. Then, we made a public vote on the name, and most people who voted, chose the name "Insamnium".
So, that's what we're going with. Very soon, we will be re-branding the entire game as "SCP: Insamnium". We think the name is perfect for the game, and the community thinks so too, so we're gonna go with it. You can let us know your thoughts on the new name in our Discord (which you should definitely join if you're interested in the game) and the Steam community chats.
For now, we'll keep the Steampage as it is, but very soon, we will be releasing a new trailer for "SCP: Insamnium" which will serve as a first-look of the remake, and with the release of the trailer, we will be re-branding the steam page with new screenshots of the remake, the new name, a new description of the game to fit the new direction we're going with it, etc. More on that soon..
So keep and eye on our Discord and YouTube channel as we'll post the trailer there. Oh yeah, and here's a W.I.P logo we made for Insamnium;
Anyway, that should be it! We're looking forward to working with the new name and direction we're going for the game! I'm sure you guys will like it too! Anyway, cya soon!

Reverting Back to Unreal Engine 4
Hello everyone! We have some news.. Unfortunately we're gonna have to revert back to Unreal Engine 4 from Unreal Engine 5..
As it turns out, UE5 seems to be a bit too demanding in terms of PC specs. It is very demanding, which means it won't really be that accessible for the majority of people. And we, as a team, obviously want to make this game as accessible to everyone as possible. Which means we will have to step-down from Unreal 5. I know this might upset a lot of people, but we really want this game to be very accessible. That's part of why we made the game free in the first place. However, it's honestly not that bad as all we're really losing here is a bit better graphics and a few editor tools. So it's really not that big of a deal anyway. Unreal 4 has everything we need to make this game, so for now we will stick with UE4.
We have been discussing this for a while, but in the end we figured this would be the best thing to do. Unreal 4 is perfectly fine for our vision of the game, it has all of the tools we need and it's very accessible to low-end PCs. So we're really not losing anything big here.
And that should be about it, yeah! As we said, this might upset some people, but really we're not losing much here. The game hasn't worsen a bit.
And by the way, we will probably be releasing a new video devlog soon, as well as some stuff related to our SCP Wiki articles and our ARMA 3 mission. So keep an eye on our Discord Server, as we post the most updates onto there.
Anyway, that should be it. Cya soon!

Unreal Engine 5 Remake and HE removal
Hello everybody and good evening!
We're here today to make a HUGE announcement regarding further development of the game. As you guys know, we've been thinking of completely remaking the entire game again in Unreal 5. We've already talked about this in our devlog video from a few weeks ago, so go watch it if you haven't. But to sum up, basically we were thinking of remaking the whole game because we just didn't like how it was going, most of it was pretty "janky"/"bad"/"unprofessional"/etc. It was pretty "bad" and the code was all written poorly and most of it was from assets we bought and the assets we did make were bad and overall the game was pretty bad and janky, but we knew that we could make something good. We knew we can really make something that competes with modern SCP games on steam, we knew we can really make something good if we tried our best. So that's why we were thinking of remaking the whole thing, cause we knew we can actually make something really good, and we figured it'd be better if we just remake the whole thing entirely, this time using our new found knowledge and skills to make the game as good as we can. So, remaking the whole thing, this time making as good as we can. Pretty neat idea! But not only that, we were also thinking of doing it in UNREAL ENGINE 5! Once again, mentioned it in the devlog, but summing it up, It's better than the version of unreal we were using previously.
Now that the summary is over, the offical announcement:
So far, in this post, I was using the words "we WERE thinking of blah blah blah", but thing is, it's not "WERE" anymore, but "ARE". Yes! WE ARE OFFICIALLY GOING TO REMAKE THE GAME IN UE5! Now, I know that we already had A LOT of exciting stuff done and we had like 90% of the new update done, and honestly it actually had some stuff that you guys would've really liked! It actually had a lot pretty good and exciting stuff done that I know you guys would've enjoyed, and I'm pretty sad to know that we're gonna just dump it away cuz there actually was A LOT of pretty good and exciting stuff! So It's a shame you guys won't get to see it.. HOWEVER, I'm sure the remake will be worth it! I'm sure of it! Sure, we might've dumped a lot of great stuff, but we will make much more and better stuff in the remake, so trust me, it's gonna be worth it!
And one more thing, Horror Engine. It caused A LOT, and when I say A LOT, I mean A LOT, of controversy regarding our game. For those who don't know Horror Engine is a big and popular free Unreal Engine Marketplace asset which basically gives you a whole bunch of premade code and assets that a lot of Unreal developers use. It's basically an entire game template that basically does all the code for you and it's extremely recognizable. You can find it here. So, I guess you can see why that would cause some problems, a widely used free asset from the marketplace that does all the coding for you. Yeah, I think you can see why people hated on us for using it lol. It caused a lot of hate towards the game and It's part of the reason we want to remake the game. We want to completely scrap Horror Engine from our game and make our own codebase, and I think you already know why judging by what I explained so far. So, it's official, not only will we be remaking the whole game in Unreal 5, but we will also remove HE and make our own codebase. Huge glow up imo. It's gonna be pretty hard making our own codebase and not using HE, but we will try our best for you guys!
So, that should be it. I'm excited to see where this goes and how people will react to it! I'm sure this remake will be much worth it! Thank you for your attention and your support for us! Cya soon!

Game Delayed
I have some horrible news.. Very, very horrible news..
The project is pretty much fucked.. Long story short, I was working on the new release trailer and Unreal started glitching out so to say, the engine was randomly stuttering, major FPS drops started to happen, some actions were delayed and sometimes the engine won't do what it's told to.
I didn't think much of it, I was going to save and restart my PC, but then my PC got the blue screen of death. That's a big problem cuz stuff like that can corrupt the project files. I went to restart the PC and unsurprisingly some of the project files got corrupted. :( I'm currently trying to figure out what went wrong and try to get the corrupted files back, as well as trying to calm myself down. So if you have any ideas of what went wrong or how I can get my files back, please let me know.
Because of this, I'm unfortunately gonna have to delay the game, I don't know for how long I'm gonna have to delay it, until I get those files back I guess. So, the game is unfortunately delayed again. It's delayed until we get the corrupted files back. I hope you understand! I also need some time to cope with this, as it's very big.
I hope you understand! Cya later!

Release Date
It's finally happening! The early access version of the game is almost done! WE HAVE A RELEASE DATE FOR V.0.1.1! It's finally happening! Just a few more finishing touches and V.0.1.1 is ready to be given to the public! We just want to thank everyone for their help and passion! Remember, this is NOT the end, this is just the first early access version!
Remember though, it's still in early development and is still pretty janky and bad looking. And also, keep in mind that all of the maps that were in the demo are mostly the same, which means that the first part of the game is very shit since it hasn't changed much from what we saw in the demo. Of course, we will revamp everything in a later update. However, all the new stuff is pretty good! So keep in mind that all of the things that were in the demo are mostly the same, of course with some minor changes. The new stuff is pretty good tho!
Anyway, the moment you've all been waiting for.. The Release Date! We are proud to announce that V.0.1.1 will be available to the public on AUGUST 19TH, 2023! YES! IN 4 DAYS! AUGUST 19TH! Get ready, cuz the new stuff is gonna be epic!
As for a trailer, there will be a release trailer coming out very soon! So keep an eye out on our YouTube channel cuz the trailer will be epic!
Anyway, see you on August 19th!

The Demo Is Removed
Hello everybody!
We just wanted to inform you that the 2022 demo is now removed from steam and can no longer be played. We decided to remove the demo due to it giving an extremely outdated and bad impression of the game in its current state, there have been a lot of people trash talking the game however they didn't know that the demo on steam is outdated and is not how the game looks now. To prevent this we decided to remove the demo from steam as it gives off the wrong impression. I hope you understand.
Remember tho, the new version of the game is releasing very soon! Cya!
