Scrapping Simulator

Major Update - v0.34

Updates to v0.34

  • Completely Reworked the Tutorial System which is now far more simplified and is far easier to include future mechanics - now only more Crucial Information is Displayed in Text form with a button that refers the Player to the Scrapping Simulator Wiki should they desire more in-depth information on the Mechanic in question - This change also allows Saving/Loading part-way through the tutorial and being able to take off where it was left this change also eliminates the ability to skip parts of the tutorial - Also added the option for returning players to try the new tutorial without effecting current progress, which will also award the achievement if it has not yet been collected.

  • Made it so when Sleeping any active aircraft's speed will be more relative to the Sped Up look of time passing overnight.

  • Fixed the Errors being produced by the E-Waste Objects on the Main Menu and Removed the LODs from those Display Objects.

  • Reworked the Method that handles Loading the Main Game Scene, which will now be a bit smoother and faster than before.

  • Improved on the Auto Part Attach/Disassembly Start mechanic making it more able to detect Objects in the Parts Box and resetting the Desk back to normal if no Part was found, rather than idling in the acceptance stage and instantly snapping the player to the desk when an item is manually dropped onto the Desk during this stage.

  • Added a 'Re-align & Reset' Method to the Disassembly Desk which once beginning disassembly it makes sure the Physics of the object are Disabled and the Object is centred to the Desk - Which helps stop objects from jittering around or falling through the desk while disassembling in some cases.

  • Added a some Text that displays brief information near the cursor about the object being hovered, to keep the 'Press [E]' & 'Press [F]' text lines more for button prompts and have this Cursor Text display any Info in regards to the Hovered Object.

  • Added a 4th (Top) Shelf to the Ingot Storage Rack which gives the ability to store each Base Metal Type for Organization giving a total Storage Capacity of 216x 1kg Ingots - Along with this the ability for Precious Metal Ingots to be stored within this Standard Shelf has been removed with the addition of the Precious Metal Vault.

  • Along with the Shelf Addition to the Ingot Storage Rack, a Precious Metal Vault has been added as a Purchasable upgrade from the Hardware Store which is a way to Safely store your Precious Metal Ingots (Gold & Silver) which can hold up to 20x 1kg Ingots & 50x 100g Ingots across 2 shelves.

  • Made it so when purchasing Items from the Hardware Store you will no longer receive a set XP Value on most items it is now based on the cost of the Purchased Object.

  • Renamed the GitHub Road Map so it can now have a permanent link and fixed the Road Map Button In-Game

  • Temporarily disabled the Low FPS Warning at least until the game is more well optimized.

  • Reverted the Object Carrying Movement back to the old method which does mean objects will be a bit more 'jittery' while carrying but at least will be more consistent with lower frame rates.

  • Fixed the Pause Menu sometimes opening up when starting a new game.

  • Fixed the Inventory Hover Images being inconsistent as to when they display their respective raw material.

  • Fixed the bug when dropping an item on the desk it would sometimes instantly snap the player to the desk and return to last known zoom level.

Hot Fix v0.33.2

Hot Fix v0.33.2 is now available.

This is just a small patch to fix a few bugs contained within v0.33.1

Patch Notes:

  • Fixed the Bug with the Furnace Ingots Moulds producing a spam of errors if the previously Attached Ingots could not be found when loading in.

  • Made it so the Clock in the Player house now displays the current In-Game Time.

  • Fixed the bug where Partially Disassembled would have all components re-enabled after being Saved/Loaded for a Second Time.

  • Hopefully solved the bug where in certain instances the Game would freeze on 11% Saving/ Auto Saving when trying to Determine the appropriate IDs for Objects.

  • Added a FPS Warning if the Frame Rate drops below 20 it will trigger a popup suggesting to Lower the Quality to achieve a more playable experience, as it has been found that FPS Drops or Consistent Low FPS can cause issues for the Carrying System when too many frames get skipped.

  • Fixed the SSD Lid missing it's Child Objects (Screws) allowing the Lid to be removed before removing the Screws.

v0.33.1 Update

Update v0.33.1 Is Live!

Patch notes:

  • Fixed the 'return_ingot_box' command not returning the Box to the Lost and Found Box due to the ID Based System introduced in v0.33.

  • Fixed Objects floating away when being loaded in attached the Disassembly bench.

  • Introduced ID Based Saving/Loading for Partially Disassembled objects, this will finally rid the game of the Pink Colours/Particles on partially Disassembled E-Waste Objects after loading in - Along with this, Randomized Objects are now considered 'Partially Disassembled' Immediately upon Spawning so the Randomizations can be saved without the Object Re-Randomizing when Loading in if it weren't added to the desk.

  • Created an entirely new Randomization Script for the PC, Server and Laptop which is far more optimized and works dynamically between all Randomized E-Waste Objects rather than having separate unique scripts for each, this will also work with any future E-Waste Objects that may require Randomization and also works in harmony with the ID Based Saving/Loading of E-Waste Objects.

  • Along with the Partial Disassembled Object ID Based Saving/Loading, every World Based Item (Ingots, Storage Buckets, Radio, Crucible, Chemicals) now has it's own ID Based Saving/Loading methods, which now completely removes the old system that saved objects in their entirety which had been causing a lot of issues in the past as well as immense file sizes and Save/Load Times - This also further reduces the Save File size by up to a whopping 99% reducing a 4.7mb file to 25kb and a 2.9mb file to 8kb, massively speeding up the Saving/Loading Process.

  • Reworked the method that handles the Movement of Objects while Carrying, which has made the movement a little smoother while Walking/Running with an Object.

  • Added the Gameplay Settings: 'Auto Attach Items to Desk from Parts Box' which allows Parts that have been added to the Parts Box to automatically attach themselves to the Disassembly Desk, ready for Disassembly - Also the 'Auto Start Disassembling Auto Attached Part' which automatically begins Disassembling of these Auto Attached Objects - Both of which are enabled by Default though can be toggled off within the Gameplay Settings Menu, if you'd prefer to do it manually.

  • Along with the Above Auto Feature for the Desk the way the Desk Checks for Objects has also been reworked - The Desk will now prioritize checking the surface of the desk for any interfering objects to add first when an object has been Disassembled, once the desk is clear the Auto Parts Box Item Grabber will begin operation - Also while Loading Player Data the standard Surface Desk Collider is disabled and replaced with a miniscule one that only looks for objects within the Center of the Desk, this will help avoid attaching lingering Desk Items when another is already in the center.

  • Added some SFX to the Automatic Doors at the Pawn Shop and Hardware Store.

  • Added the Chemical Station SFX to the 'Sound FX' Volume slider within the settings, which also mutes the sounds while the game is paused.

  • Added Colliders to the Door Mats at the Hardware Store and Pawn Shop to avoid smaller objects hiding inside them.

  • Reworked the Storage Buckets Both Visually and Script wise greatly improving performance and allows them to be saved in the form of an ID.

  • Added Colliders to the roofs of all buildings to help limit Objects getting Stuck in unreachable areas, though does mean rooftops are no longer accessible by the player.

  • Added Feet/Tabs to the Large Transformer so it is now Mounted to the base of the Microwave with 4x Screws and is now Removed by Hand.

  • Fixed the Laptops collider issues, with the Battery Collider Size and some Inner Components being clickable through the Lid.

  • Fixed the short LOD Distances for the CD/DVD Drives.

  • Added a Hint System for the Mine Sweepin' Mini-Game to remove the RNG/Luck Based effect from the Achievement which can now be easily obtained within a few games.

  • Fixed the Bug with the Steam Achievement Manager would sometimes not Initialize correctly during start-up, potentially not rewarding some Start-up Achievements.

  • Fixed the 4GB DDR4 RAM Sticks having Merged Chips (Pre-Sub Part) within the PC.

  • Reduced the Pawn Shop E-Waste Purchase Price from 50% Value of the Objects Contents to 25% to help avoid this feature being abused as a shortcut to making easy money - Along with this the Pawn Shop Owner (Rob) has been given a 'Balance' which defaults to $100 each day so if the Pawn Shop Balance is not enough to cover the Purchase of your Object, the owner will not want to purchase the item from you for full value, this balance resets daily and can also be increased by purchasing E-Waste Items from Rob giving the Pawn Shop more Balance.

  • Along with the above Purchase adjustment, the Pawn Shop Sale Screen has also been reworked to provide more info and how the prices are calculated.

  • Reworked the way the 'Windowed' Mode is handled which now acts like a proper Windowed Program rather than remaining Borderless.

Major Update - v0.33

Updates to v0.33

  • Made it so if an object crashes into a Object that is attached to the Disassembly table it now releases it from the desk when it's physics are enabled.

  • Added a General Waste Bin that resides out the front of the Players House, you can add upto 30kg (30,000g) of Waste Material here which will be collected every Tuesday Morning, this also adds an addition Waste Collection Service fee of $74.95 which is delivered to your mailbox every Monday Morning.

  • Added an In-Game Radio which can play Music added by the User by clicking the 'Save File Directory' button, navigating to the 'Radio' Folder and placing .MP3 (only) files here. Note that if the game is running and the radio is active any changes to the folder will not be made until either the 'refresh_radio' command is entered or returning to the menu and going back in-game, which will allow the radio to re-load the files, if no custom files are detected the Default Non-Copyrighted Background Music will play.

  • The Radio can be purchased from the Hardware Store for the price of $49.95 - along with the Radio addition the old Background Music has been disabled, the Tracks have been added as the default tracks for the Radio, the 'Music' Slider in the Audio Settings now controls the volume of the Radio.

  • Reworked the Crucible interface to be more uniform with the theme.

  • Fixed the bug where the players speed would not go back up until you run when releasing the Trolley.

  • Added '[TAB]' Text to the Backpack Button showing that the it can be opened with the Tab Button.

  • Reworked the Ingot Carry Box to work off an ID Based System which will resolve the ingots floating Bug and will be far more performant both during Runtime and while Saving/Loading.

  • Fixed the the 'wobbly/alien' sounds being produced by Planes and other Moving Audio Sources.

  • Reworked the Mailbox system which now has it's own UI and will display Available Due Bills which can be accessed by Pressing [E] on the Mail Box.

  • Reworked the Raw Material Storage Buckets UI and Adjusted the Available weight from 30kg to 15kg for them to resemble a more realistic weight limit for the size of the bucket, Any Saved Materials will remain above the new limit if they had exceeded it, though no more can be added until below the new limit.

  • Implemented 'Coupons' into the Mailbox system which gives either a Discount on Purchases or Boost in Sales at the listed Shop for the Day which can also Stack with Perk Boosts.

  • Reworked and re-added the Settings on the Main Menu - Which now properly communicates between the Main Menu and Main Game Scene and settings will no longer be reverted and saved as default when returning to the main menu - Settings values are no longer saved the moment the value is changed, the values are only saved upon pressing the 'Save & Apply' Button, which eliminates the Default values being saved to file when initializing the settings.

  • Implemented a Crypto Mining feature to the PC which gives you the ability to Mine Crypto at the expense of power usage, your Crypto coin will be stored on your PC and can be withdrawn into Cash at anytime - You can also Deposit any spare cash.

  • Reworked the Interaction with objects while in Disassembly Mode, hovering select Interactable Objects such as the Radio, Light and Tools will now have UI to show controls related to that Object.

  • Added Some UI Text when Hovering External Application Buttons, such as the 'Help_Me' Page, Furnace Help Button, Pause Menu 'Links' Buttons etc, to warn that it opens an Application outside the Game.

  • Fixed select data not being updated before triggering the Auto Save.

  • Corrected some Typos in the Commands List.

  • Added an extra Decimal number to Cash Added/Removed values to represent a more accurate values being added/deducted, as well as showcasing the value in a more traditional style value of: $45.74 rather than rounding to $45.7 for example.

  • Re-worded the 'Content Creators Notice' to be more brief and to the point.

v0.32.4 Small Update

  • Fixed the bug with Certain Final Objects of an E-Waste Object would Bug the Queue.

  • Fixed the Bug where removing an Empty Case and adding it back to the Disassembly Table would cause the Case Collider to not enable making it uncollectable.

  • Redesigned the Environment a little bit which removes the instant drop-offs and other unfinished looking parts, and added a small forest style to help fill in the wide open areas.

  • Added a 'Save File Directory' Button to the Main Menu and the In-Game Pause Menu for ease of accessing Scrapping Simulator Save File and Backups.

v0.32.3 Update

Update v0.32.3 Is Live!

Patch notes:

  • Added an Auto-Save Feature that automatically saves your Data after Sleeping, which is enabled by default, though can be toggled off through the Gameplay Settings.

  • Fixed the bug with the Scrap Yard Payment was repeating each day along with Power Bills if you Receive and Pay the Bill on Monday and then Save before advancing to Tuesday and Return you would be presented a new bill.

  • Fixed the Bug where if a Component is clicked on a specific frame between Queued objects it would sometimes become bugged and not fully Disassemble, by restructuring the method that determines whether or not to Immediately Disassemble the Component, or Send it off to the Queue, or Send it to the Tool Handler.

  • Fixed the bug with Energy getting out of sync by completely reworking the energy system, it now runs of a direct percentage of the current playable time (7am -11:30pm = 1670 Seconds/27.8 Minutes) - The energy is now dictated by a percentage value between the Current Playable Time and Time Passed in Day rather than 1 Game Minute reducing 1 Unit of Energy which had proven unreliable and tricky to sync back up.

  • Along with the above Energy Rework the Values have been tweaked a little in regards to tiredness - Energy Bar now remains Green for 85% (from 7am to 8:50pm), then Yellow from 15-7.5%(8:50pm to 10:10pm), then Red from 7.5-3%(10:10pm to 10:50pm) and Flashing Red from 3-0%(10:50pm to 11:30pm) - You can now also sleep when the Energy Bar turns Yellow rather than Red.

  • Fixed the bug where if you got kicked out of Disassembly mode by being overly tired it could lockup the Disassembly or Tool Script if the player was in the middle of removing a part - It now starts a loop and constantly checks to see until the player is idle and can safely stop.

  • Removed the 'I should stop walking before releasing the Trolley' Text from the Trolley, it will now remain blank while moving to stop the flicker of On/Off text due to the Slight Head bob while walking.

  • Changed the Hardware Store Open time from 8am to 7am, and the Close time from 7pm to 5pm to resemble more realistic Australian Hardware Store operating hours and to create a little bit of Diversity between the shop Operating Hours.

  • Fixed the SSD Memory Chip animations.

  • Called the 'ReplaceAllObjects' to fix any Bugged objects from the prior Updates.

  • Fixed the bug where the Date would show '2022' instead of '2007' for the first day.

Major Update - v0.32

G'day Scrappers! I apologize for the delay on this update, a few minor setbacks both IRL and with Game Dev had arisen and had pushed this Update back longer than I had liked, but am pleased to announce it's finally here! :D

Updates to v0.32

  • Completely Reworked the Ingot Shelf to work off an ID Based System which greatly Improves the Saving/Loading and Optimization of the Shelf - Any Ingots Stored inside the Old Shelf should be attached to the new shelf automatically, though unfortunately with many Ingots it sometimes can overwhelm the New Shelf and some Ingots may become stuck around the New Shelf, as such a Lost & Found Collider has been added to the inside of the Shelf as it's no longer holding physical object Ingots that would have otherwise interfered - If you have Ingots that are stuck near the shelf you can use the 'hide_shelf=true/false' command by pressing [F1] to open the Command Panel.

  • Created a Pre-Check when Purchasing Upgrades (Ingot Shelf, Furnace Objects, Chem Objects etc) from the Hardware Store which will double check no Objects are inside the Object you are about to buy, if so, you will be presented with a Popup notifying you that an Object is interfering with the Purchase Objects Position, giving you a chance to move the Object(s).

  • Added a Backup system that checks if your Saved Version is less than the Current Version when Loading, if so your Save file will be copied to a new Folder within the Save File directory for Safe Keeping, to help lower the possibility of losing all previous progress due to a Bug/Update Issue/Error etc.

  • With the above Backup System, this has introduced a Popup during the Loading Process asking if you wish to Backup your old Save File, in turn this has removed the warning when pressing 'Continue' when loading the game on a newer version.

  • Fixed the LOD Colour for the Truck behind the Hardware Store.

  • Halved the Loading/Saving Interval between Data Segments to further speed up Saving/Loading Times.

  • Simplified the Script that Handles Interactable Objects and made it more Optimized.

  • Added some Rotational Movement to the trolley so when turning Left/Right the Trolley Turns in that Direction to help make interaction with the trolley not be so rigid and static.

  • Increased the Leaves Rustling Volume on Trees so they are more apparent.

  • Fixed the HDD Platter Cap missing it's animation.

  • Reworked the way Street E-Waste is handled - Street E-Waste will now no longer de-spawn after 10 Minutes, it will remain there for the entire day and only de-spawn if it is left there overnight.

  • Made it so E-Waste objects cannot be interacted with until they have finished their Start-up Initialization to save interrupting the start-up process and bugging the item if picking up E-Waste right after it's spawned in, this should also help with some of the Levitation Bugs.

  • Tweaked the Lower Looking Limit to make picking up Smaller Objects a bit easier.

  • Fixed Certain SFX like Thunder/Rain Sounds etc not being affected when muting/turning down the Ambient/Weather Volume Slider.

  • Fixed the Storage Bucket Scale Sign at the Scrap Yard, where if you added a Empty Bucket onto the Scales there were 2 lines of Text not updating correctly.

  • Reworked the Scrap Yard Ingot Sales panel and the way it Saves Stored Ingots which now works off a dynamic ID Based system to finally rid the Sales Panel of the Horrid red 'WARNING' Text - This should be far more performant and more stable, also reducing the Save-File Size impact (compared to when this feature use to be in the game before it was removed due to instability and random occurrences of Ingots vanishing).

  • Along with the Above reworking of the Saving/Loading Side of the Ingot Sales Panel - I've Created an entirely separate Panel for Ingot Sales Specifically which can be accessed by Speaking to Dave and selecting the 'Sell Ingots' option - A limit of 21 Ingots can be stored here at a time, also a daily fee to store your Ingots here overnight will cost you 1/14th of the value of the Ingot being stored which will be deducted from the Payment Holding value to avoid this feature being abused as a free storage area as the intention is selling not storing.

  • Increased the Cost of the Power Bills (Cost Per KW) to accommodate the now long intervals between bills being sent.

  • Removed the now Redundant 12am Curfew Notification.

  • Fixed the bug where if you passed out Interacting with the Trolley it would distort the Trolley thus levitating the player and not allowing you to release the trolley - Along with this the 'reset_trolley' command now also releases the trolley from the player.

Hot Fix v0.31.5

Hot Fix v0.31.5 is now available.

This is just a small patch to fix the bug contained within v0.31.4

v0.31.5 Patch Notes:

  • Removed most of the Disassembly Popups and created a new system that handles Disassembly related Notifications - As understandably all the Popup Notifications can become overwhelming and start to be ignored due to being so frequent - The Notifications are now separate which appear above the Materials Gained Panel and are a lot more Simplified and Brief.

  • Added the 'check_mats' and 'check_price' commands to the command panel, which are used to check the Raw Material Contents and Price of an object you are looking at.

  • Fixed the Bug where Chems and Storage Buckets would Disappear after Saving/Loading in v0.31.4 - Unfortunately no data was being saved in relation to these Objects as such for anyone saved on the v0.31.4 version will have their Storage Bucket Count reset at the Hardware Store.
