Early Access Exit and the Future
Hello guys,
more than one year has gone by since we published Scribble It! via the Steam Early Access program on the 26th of july 2019.
It sure has been a wonderful journey with ups, downs and everything in between. We are thankful for all the support we had and continue to have from you guys so thanks a lot! With the upcoming patch 1.0 we are officially leaving Early Access. Looking back at the first playable versions of this game and all the things that have happened since last year sometimes feels a little unreal.
A whole lot of updates, some smaller some bigger, transformed the original ingame UI into what it is today. There is always room for improvement but we sure came a long way.
But not only the way the game looks while playing it changed. Learning how to design accessible and intuitive UI elements is sometimes harder than it might seem and presented a major challenge for us. In July we completely overhauled the way of creating and updating a lobby and that was almost certainly not the last time we changed big UI elements :-P.
Now here comes the big news: Not only will we leave Early Access when releasing the next patch but we will also make a part of the game free-to-play. There will be a free and a full version of Scribble It! in the Steam store, everyone that already owns the game right now automatically owns the full version.
We thought a lot about going this route and while this is a big change we are convinced it will have a positive impact on the game. By taking this step we hope to acquire new players and create a better multiplayer experience for everyone.
Please note that we are very grateful for every single one of you that supported us during the last year and that we will continue to listen to you like we always have! Detailled information on the free version and when 1.0 is going to be shipped will be released soon.
Cheers, the devs

Patch-Notes 0.15 Mutilingual Word Packages and the comeback of macOS are here!
[previewyoutube="s7rRtZZ_tYk;full"]
Hello everyone,
today marks another big step towards the official release of this game. Patch 0.15 will most likely be the last patch before version 1.0. In this patch we added multilingual word packages. While creating word packages you can now add several languages. More languages mean more players from all over the world can play this package together.
Oh, also we were finally able to add macOS back to the list of supported platforms! With these changes also comes a new way of selecting the right word packages for your lobby. The new interface makes choosing what kind of words you want to include in your next round way more accessible and easy-to-use.
Most of our official word packages are already translated in 7 different languages with more word being added every day. Nonetheless you as the community can make a big contribution by translating packages that you already created to new languages and of course by continuing to create such awesome packages like you have in the past. We are filled with joy every time that we see new contributions being made, so keep on rocking!
Below you can see what the new interface looks like:
IMPORTANT: Make sure you selected the right Scribble Language as this will be the language of the words that you guess and draw. You can change your Scribble Language by clicking on your profile in the main menu (top right corner) and then clicking the drop down menu as seen here:
If you have any questions regarding the new patch or want to give suggestions, feedback or report a bug please don't hesitate to chat with us on our discord server! We hope you like the changes we made.
Changed word package to support multiple languages
Reworked word package selection in host menu

Bug fixes:

Fixed undo on first drawn element not working correctly in Guess It! - Grand Reveal and Rate It!
Fixed limited guesses couldn't be set for Stream Wars!
Fixed shapes always filled on MacOS
Fixed scribbles not correct in Guess It! - Grand Reveal and Rate It! on MacOS
Fixed initial settings could be skipped when accepting an invite in Steam
Patch-Notes 0.14 Various Game Improvements
Hello everyone, we just shipped update 0.14. It contains lots of smaller game improvements, most based on feedback we got from you guys after the last update 0.13 so thank you a lot for that!
One of the things that got suggested by the community was an option to disable the little hints that we give you for the current word. Below you can see what that option looks like in our Custom Settings Menu:
Also we realized that it might be useful to you see what your teammates voted so we added that to the word selection panel:
Fixed choosing word status not correctly updating in teams
Fixed workshop browser not useable after scrolling
Fixed back/esc in Scribble Gallery in Free Draw not working
Fixed rare bug which caused a crash when browsing the workshop
Patch-Notes 0.13 Team Modes, Lobby Creation and Summer Sale!
Hello everyone,
the new update is now live! There are tons of small changes in the game but the most important new features are team game modes and a new lobby creation menu. Also we entered the Steam Summer Sale with a 35% discount on the game!
From now on you can play with teams of up to 4 players. This is possible in all game modes. You do not have to create teams which means playing solo like before is still possible. Any combination of team sizes from 1-4 can play against each other. Drawing together on a single scribble needs some practice and might be a tough challenge at first but that's what makes it fun!
Below you can see how teams look like in our lobby.
We also changed the game creation menu. We separated the whole process into smaller steps and added breadcrumbs as a way to navigate through the process and visualize what is left. Below you can see what the new settings menu looks like. Changing a game setting is now a lot more intuitive, in case you do not understand a setting we added some toooltips to the different symbols and UI elements. We hope you like these changes as we put quite a lot of thought into the new menu. We would love to hear your feedback on it!
Another change we made concerns the naming of our game modes. From now on there are 4 game modes:
In Guess It! one alternating Player illustrates a word - all other players have to guess! Time is everything as the quickest minds and the best artists will get the most points!
Stream Wars! works similar to Guess It!. However the viewers can help the streamer with guesses and also decide which word the streamer has to draw.
In Rate It! All players illustrate the same word at once. Afterwards you have to rate the pictures of the other players - The perfect game mode to show off your drawing skills!
Exhibition Wars! is the streamers alternative to Rate It!. The players draw their pictures but only the stream viewers decide which picture looks best by giving their rating.
As you can see there is no more Scribble It! game mode as it was renamed to Guess It! - Classic. The old Guess It! game mode is now called Guess It! - Grand Reveal. This should make the names of our game modes and what they really are more memorable as both shapes of Guess It! are very alike and both are based on the classic pictionary game principles.
In case you experience any troubles with the new patch we are glad to help you out via our Twitter or Discord linked below.
Free Draw does no longer require a network connection
Fixed undo/redo in free draw multiplayer and teams
Fixed sending long chat messages causing kick
Team Game Modes, Mac Version and what is to come!
Hello everyone, it is about time to give you an update on what we have been working on the past few months!
A quick look at our Roadmap already reveals that we are planning on integrating team game modes. This means you will be able to play all of our standard game modes as teams of up to 4 players. Also we changed the process of creating a lobby to make it more intuitive and easy to understand. Here is a short video of the new lobby creation process [previewyoutube="kqaie_hUe38;full"]
With the new team functionality also comes a new lobby which you can get a preview of in the following picture!
We hope you like the upcoming changes that will go live within the next few weeks!
Another announcement we have to make is especially important for all Mac Users. We know there have been some problems with macOS related bugs in the past. We are incredibly sorry for this and understand that you are not satisfied with your experience. Therefore we decided to switch off official Mac support for a short while. This means that if you want to start Scribble It! on a Mac you can still do that and play the game but in our store page the supported platforms tab will not list macOS anymore. We hope to become better in this department and will fix the existing issues soon.
