Unfortunately, I will soon be taking down the BearBoxMedia website. As the companion app is hosted there, it means players will be unable to play the game at that address during this transition.
If you would like to continue playing the game, the companion app will be hosted at challacc.com/scribble
Sorry for any inconvenience during this time, but it does mean that we'll be updating the game with new content in the near future!
Big Update Incoming
Boy, do we have a fun update for you!
On top of over a hundred new words, we have a number of quality of life improvements, as well as a few bug fixes!
More than a dozen words added to each category!
People can now guess directly from your Twitch chat, and have their score appear on the scoreboard as though they were playing directly!
Improved connection between the host's PC and additional devices!
Improved the lockdown feature to prevent players from joining you unless you want them to!
The mute music button should now actually mute all the music... surprisingly!
The overall volume has been lowered YET AGAIN! Too loud, man! Too loud!
Feature added to automatically kick out players who's devices have become unresponsive.
The Host's Just Doodle will now draw on everyone's device, rather than just their own and the main display.
Even though you still have the ability to add your own custom words, we're going to keep adding to the current categories, and are always on the look out for great ideas!
Important!!!
If you have trouble with the web app, please make sure you clear your cache, as it may still be trying to use the old version. The app should automatically update itself, so hopefully this won't be an issue for most of you!
Update Incoming!
Changelog
Important! This update includes additional controls for the Host, and therefore, the web version has also been updated. The two may no longer be compatible.
I've seen a few games being played, including a large match on Twitch, and have taken the feedback on board.
Players wanted to be able to turn off Free-Draw and ONLY play with Mutators. This is now possible.
Players can no longer join mid-game if you're set to Twitch mode. Whilst watching Twitch, I noted that viewers were joining and then quitting the streamer's game, which was just confusing.
Mute Music button wasn't working... now is.
A new lock button has been added to stop additional people from joining a game. This is useful for streamers who don't want their viewers signing in.
Music was said to be too loud, so this has been lowered.
Tug'O'Draw results screen on secondary devices has been updated to better show what's going on if you don't have access to the main display.
Groundhog was showing an error on secondary devices. This has been corrected.
Added the Twitch logo to the game, along with the player's Twitch Alias so they can more easily see whether or not they are connected.
Please do let me know if you notice any bugs so I can quickly squash them. In addition, ideas on how to expand the game are most welcome!
Scribble+ has been released!
Intro
It's been quite the challenge getting Scribble to you, but it's been a lot of fun getting it ready.
I used to play games like this an awful lot when I was younger, and play it whenever possible. It was always annoying finding pencils without broken nibs, and drawing as small as possible to save on paper, which is why I'm so happy about this digital age we live in :)
History Lesson
Scribble originally came out for the Nintendo Wii U back in 2015, thinking the console's unique gamepad as a perfect companion. I didn't really consider phones to be large enough to be a viable control options.
Turns out I was wrong.
Scribble+ allows family and friends of all ages to play with each other from all over the world. If you can use your finger, hold a pen, or use a mouse, you're perfectly able to play.
Twitch
As the game has required something of an entire rewrite, it gave me the chance to do more research into what players would want, and one of the main suggestions was Twitch integration.
Players can now stream their game of Scribble, and connect with tens of thousands of players, allowing them to take part and guess your drawings. If they guess it correctly, they'll be awarded points just as though they were sat next to you.
I'm really excited to see players streaming their games and look forward to taking part :)
Future
The game is not finished. Yes, it's fully playable, but I like working on my games until I can't think of anything to add to them. I have a few more ideas I want to add in, but seeing as Scribble is perfect as a party game, when better to play it than in the holiday season while surrounded by friends and family?
I really hope you enjoy, and look forward to talking to you all in the Community Hub!
