Downtime January 6th, Between 5pm - 7pm Central Time
My Christmas break was nice and much needed.
The underwater resource spawn at (239,200) was removed.
I removed some more annoying profanity filter names from GM suggestion.
I'm hoping all the issues with the Potty Mouth filter have been resolved.
Player names with Jewel should no longer be flagged as racist.
Logs should properly show up for 2017.
The top client crashes were fixed.
A new test server will be created.
- This will allow features to be created and tested
- Programmers are notoriously horrible at testing their own code
- The test server will have a separate launcher, patch server, and client.
- The server will be hosted on an Intel stick the size of a candy bar. :)
- This server will also allow multiple developers work on the game at once, so start to expect more content changes. One of the more jaded GMs added... (and more bugs)
The water geometry has been removed from the navigation mesh. This was the culprit of making critters go underground.
Downtime December 20th, Between 7pm - 9pm Central Time
* Vendors and the Market will now serve players with negative tokens.
* When you log into the server, the title bar shows your player name.
* I accidentally removed the help menu item when I added tokens support a few months back. It's back!
* Fixed an issue where Sitish Felhounds weren't awarding points for the contest.
* Due to potty mouths in the public channels, we have added a potty mouth filter.
- Tells, group chat, and guild chat are not monitored, since you're likely talking to people you know, and it's not public.
- If you are caught being a potty mouth, you'll get a time out for ten minutes.
- I'm not listing the potty mouth words here. (for obvious reasons)
- It affects your entire account. If you log out and back in before ten minutes, you'll still have to wait it out.
- Don't be a potty mouth.
- You can always add offensive players to your ignore list.
* GMs got a lot of cool tools for dealing further with naughty players.
* I doubled the effect of demoralizing howl.
* I fixed several sources of client crashes thanks to Steam logging the client crashes.
* I fixed two sources of critters getting stuck in the navigation mesh.
- Mopey the junior cargo tortoise shouldn't give up so easily anymore.
- Critters shouldn't get stuck while retreating.
* Wolves doing a lunge followed immediately with a bite should get the correct damage.
* A lot of damage skills have gotten their damage rounded off instead of showing all the precision. (which was annoying)
* Pets and escorted critters still teleport to player, but not as often. This was causing escort missions to be super easy.
* Increased range for fixed range skills:
- Sheep: Head Butt, Round House, Shin Kick, Back Kick, Raging Waters, Static Bolt
- Wolf: Bite, Tackle, Shred, Pin, Maim
- Catgirl: Scratch
- Scrapper: Hammer Smash, Hammer Spin
Downtime December 12th, Between 7pm - 9pm Central Time
This is my first major Post-Steam release patch. The patch is mostly a LOT of things I should have had fixed before, but I didn't realize they were problems. Consider this the theme of the patch. (probably the next one too...)
* Hoof Slam (a sheep attack) broke because the navigation mesh doesn't have an accurate idea of players and critters being on the ground. I adjusted the server's concept of being ground-based. Remember, Hoof Slam doesn't fire off until the sheep hits the ground. Also, only ground based critters and enemy players take damage from the attack, so if you jump in the air or are flying, you're immune. This should give some nice ideas to wolves right about now.
* We still have issues with the navigation mesh as far as critter clumping and critters getting stuck. I'm working through these problems one at a time, so please be patient.
* The Client.exe will no longer come up in full screen mode. This addresses problems with black screens at startup. In case you're curious, you can toggle full screen mode by hitting Alt-Enter. That's a pretty standard key sequence for 3D games.
* If your account has an unvalidated E-mail address, then this patch is just for you. Really!
- I simplified recovery, password changes, and e-mail validations to pretty much be the same. They all validate your E-mail.
- If you're in game, you can request a new validation code by opening options (control-O). Look at the Account tab, and it shows all your account/email information. You can even change your password using this tab.
- You can use the account tab to change your E-mail address. This is totally new. If you change your E-mail address, then you will need to revalidate that address.
- A lot of testing went into this feature, so I have a lot of confidence in it.
* We had a minor emergency when a bug was found in the market. I found the problem within five minutes. I left out a single line of code. I may need to move back some tokens for some of the more "enterprising" players. We'll see during the down time.
Downtime December 5th, Between 7pm - 9pm Central Time
We will be patching the server and client.
* Steam achievements should no longer give you the level 10 version of an achievement by mistake.
* Will I take away the level 10 achievements if the player didn't earn it? Nope.
* Lucky bunnies should now appear in your inventory. I had forgotten I turned it off temporarily.
* Chat channel names with spaces are now legal.
* An item description for level cakes and a better description for the recipe were both added. Existing items aren't affected though.
* Pets now should cross the bridges with their players. (good news)
* Bad critters such as trolls can now attack your across bridges. (not so good news)
* Not all places are covered by the navigation mesh yet -- please be patient.
* Since it's December, Elf Hats will now be given out!
* Also, the pattern for elf hats will be given out as prizes in the crafting contests. Crafted Elf hats have an amazing amount of quality.
* In the next patch, I hope to address the problem of unverified accounts. You'll be able to change the E-mail associated with the account.
