Good monday, friends! In the near 2-3 weeks there will be no updates since certain amount of time is necessary to transfer game to the new version of engine. As several of you know, at this moment SecondSpeed is based on version UE_4.15, and actual version is 4.17. And this is where we are going to move. This would allow to improve performance and to use more qualitative lighting, which would be pleasantly reflected on the picture, and also this is a occasion to do some refactoring.

Good monday, friends! Last week was rather productive, though recently it is not happening to release updates every day. It is associated with fact that refinements are getting more complicated which not allow to release them partially. Development is moving on and soon it will make sense to carry refactoring and moving to new engine version, which would entail the return of x86 platform.

Good monday, friends! This time there is some to tell about and to comment:

Q. Part of the main menu does not work for me, only few buttons are active.


A. Functions are active just partially yet - those which are necessary for tests. You can tell what is active by pointing mouse cursor on menu buttons. Active function buttons will be highlighted in orange color and sounded.

Q. When game was at GreenLight, almost all platforms were listed, including MAC and Linux


A. Those platforms would become available in future, closer to final main version of game. Because at present it would take extra time to compile multiple builds for different platforms, instead of one, at which the game is being developed. That time could be spent on improving the game itself.

P.S. dont forget about -beta build. Some content appeared there will never be seen by end user after another monday update, but still could be extremely fun.

Random generation of first part of minigame is added to OpenSky map. (It poses a high workload to CP when generates, which will be fixed in future updates)
New visual effect is added - “Hell Fire”
Wall interaction system is significantly redesigned (Collision calculation is simplified, which had a positive impact on overall performance)

There are not many visible changes this week. First off, because work has been carried out on a logics, not on a visual part. It has proved difficult to make random level generation algorithm for replayability Increase, while level stays doable, not to mention dynamics. Nevertheless, this is not an issue and algorithm will be appearing in parts during this week in beta versions.
I almost forgot! SecondSpeed is included in « #MondayMotivation Bundle » at #IndieGala. This is good and not very good at the same time. Because larger number of people will know about project, but not all of those who buy bundle will be aware of what the SecondSpeed is.

- When the game starts, music is automatically getting paused. To turn it on again, just hit “Pause/Play” button.
- OpenSky map concept is totally redesigned.
- Works on mini-game at OpenSky map are started. Those should be finished to the next Monday.
- Basic features of Main Menu are added (for now they are not Introduced)

After first mini-game for OpenSky map is added, first Achievement and Main Menu feature will appear. Also, when menu appears, run tracks seen at Greenlight should start to appear.
Game softlocks itself at the OpenSky map, if player run too far away (more than 65 km, although there is nothing to do there). If that problem will not be solved further, than caution in the form of wall and glitches appears (which most likely is not going to happen, because the solution is already found, but is not implemented for bad optimization of algorithm).
And yes, If, for some reason, you have some problem with game, or fps falls below 62, write about your problem at Steam forum telling your PC spec. One of our main things is game being run on any bucket!

FAQ answers:

Why there are so few levels at the moment?


Now we are engaged in refining of basic control-related gameplay features. Fortunately, at this moment almost everything is done, so new game mode will appear eventually in next two weeks. With obstacle course and progressive ‘cutting’ countdown.

When will story mode appear?


Work on this part will continue, as soon as all gameplay features, including the in-game editor are implemented.

Why there are no Steam Cards or Achievement system? or any occasion to save accumulated process? After all, a lot of peoples buy games for those.


Our primary task is gameplay improvement. Afterwards all this will appear. But not now. Progress saving feature will appear at the same time with obstacle course mode. As mentioned above - in a few weeks.
