Senet

Update Notes (Version 1.03) for Nov 14

Version 1.03:

  • Fixed the issue of the mirrored knucklebone not showing the correct side (thanks to Ginner for his comments on this).
  • Updated the Normal Difficulty AI to be a little more unpredictable and less offsensive.

Update Notes (Version 1.02) for Nov 12

Version 1.02:

  • Fixed the Tutorial grid-shaped lid of the board that was reopening by itself.
  • Updated the Tutorial text to make it easier to learn the rules (thank you Memnon for the suggestion).
  • Updated tutorial to make it easier to learn how the Knucklebones work (thank you Ginner for the suggestion).
  • Updated the size of the Acacia board's knucklebones to make it easier to guess their values.

Update Notes (Version 1.01) for Nov 8

Version 1.01:

  • Fixed a bug that could occur when the AI was not able to play a move, and led to the token visual staying on the screen (thanks to Pandamy for the report and testing).
  • Fixed a bug that could occur when the player was on the House of Water and led to being able to accidentally pass your turn (thanks to Memnon for the report).
  • Fixed the wrong focal of the camera on the Steam Deck, which was too wide.
  • Updated the Tutorial (House 27, 28, 29 and 30) to add more details about what actually happen when you have a pawn on the House of Water (your other pawns are not defended anymore and they can't move).
  • Added a mean to avoid having way too much random luck. The same math method with the same odds is actually used for both the player and the AI. The AI does not get any advantage at all, even in Hard (the player has, by starting first with his pawns ahead). The dice result is fully random, in fact it was a little too much random, so I fixed that. It's no more the case, overall the dice results will be more fair for everyone, and actually very close.
  • Added two debug log lines in the Unity log file (in AppData), printing the dice stats of both players.

Tabletop Gathering | Nov 03-10

A centenary ago, Howard Carter discovered the entrance of Tutankhamun's Tomb on the 4th of November 1922. The boy king's treasures spurred renewed interest in Ancient Egypt, and is still one of the most famous discoveries in modern archaeology. We found no less than four Senet boards inside his tomb.

Senet is turn-based strategy game meant for two players. This digital edition allows you to play the recreation of the game using several boards remade in 3D that are in museums across the world.

The rule are not complicated, and therefore easy to learn. The game itself has no reading required. Truly a game that is family friendly, Senet can be played with children as young as seven and still has the challenge to keep it interesting for adults too.

During this second Stream you'll be able to follow three different games at the same time (switching from one to another almost every 2 minutes):

  • Amunmes Wood Board :: Normal difficulty, marked board using throwsticks.
  • Tutankhamun Ivory Board :: Normal+ difficulty as this genuine board found in his tomb is not marked on the Senet Side and was found with Knucklebones in its drawer.
  • Amunhotep III Faience Board :: Hard difficulty, which means no HUD to help you.
