The toxic fog shrouding the path led to an elusive cave. Even though I was equipped with the right mixture of Serum, my every breath felt like a test of endurance as I struggled against the green haze. The forest's usual tranquility had turned eerily ominous. This was no ordinary challenge; every step became a battle against the overwhelming fog.
Unaware of the danger I was about to face, I pressed forward, my thoughts consumed by the ones awaiting my safe return. As I finally reached the cave's entrance, a chill ran down my spine. The cave's darkness seemed to devour the light, and an inexplicable dread gripped me.
As I cautiously entered the cave, my heart pounded with uncertainty. Suddenly, a low growl reverberated from the depths, and I froze in terror. In the dim light, a creature emerged from the shadows. It was a monstrous being with an ape-like physique. Its long arms gave it a hauntingly otherworldly appearance, and the luminescent green light coming out from its meatless torso suggested a very advanced mutation.
My mind struggled to comprehend what stood before me. The realization that such a powerful creature inhabited the cave left me pondering what other dangers awaited on my journey. The once-mundane exploration had transformed into a pivotal battle for survival against a terrifying foe I had never known existed. Now, I stood face-to-face with it, uncertain if I make it out alive.
As I ventured through the desolate landscape, searching for more answers, I noticed a peculiar building. It looked similar to other facilities I have seen before, but this one had a big sign on the side that said “Human”. Within its ominous confines, I encountered a chilling sight—the lifeless bodies of fellow humans. Little did I know that this encounter would thrust me into a confrontation with an unfathomable danger, a new breed of terror that would test not only my physical abilities but also the depths of my moral fortitude.
No longer than a few seconds after the discovery, one of the corpses started moving and getting up. As I stood there completely paralyzed by shock, the reanimated human remains charged at me with haste. At that moment, my instincts kicked into overdrive, and I swiftly reacted to the impending threat. I struck out at the corpse, fighting to protect myself. The clash was brief yet gruelling, with adrenaline coursing through my veins. The encounter left me exhausted, physically and emotionally drained.
As I was trying to catch my breath, a heavy wave of guilt washed over me. These were not mutated creatures like the ones I had battled before. These were remnants of humanity, reanimated into a grotesque semblance of life. In my heart, I knew that ending their existence was a moral burden far weightier than any fight I had faced thus far.
Unable to find suitable words to describe these walking corpses, I settled on the term "zombies." It seemed fitting, capturing the surreal horror of the situation. In my mind, I began to speculate on their origin. Could they be the result of failed human trials conducted within this facility, a twisted experiment gone awry? The thought sent shivers down my spine, contemplating the depths of human desperation and the consequences of tampering with nature's delicate balance.
While exploring a decrepit laboratory, I stumbled upon a mysterious room filled with newspaper clips meticulously pinned to a corkboard. The tale, woven together with pieces of red string, revolved around the EVAS corporation. Are they the ones responsible for what is happening to me? As I unravelled clues and bits of information, I saw a narrative that seemed straight out of a dystopian novel.
It all began in the middle of the 21st century when a sudden surge in pollution plagued the world. This catastrophic event triggered a toxic epidemic called The Blight. The Blight spread like wildfire, ravaging the planet with its deadly and unfamiliar diseases. It began its sinister conquest by targeting plants and animals, but it wasn't long before it started to affect humans, putting our kind on the brink of extinction.
During this chaos, pharmaceutical corporations raced to discover a cure. My attention got turned to a firm known as EVAS. This name instantly felt familiar as their logo was plastered on almost every document I have found so far. It turns out that the native inhabitants of this island showcased an astonishing immunity to the blight, and a team of EVAS scientists was dispatched here to investigate.
The next part seems like something completely out of this world. I discovered that a powerful earthquake struck this region in the early 21st century, reshaping the landscape and giving birth to an extraordinary phenomenon. From the river coursing through the island emerged a mysterious substance – a greenish elixir possessing remarkable properties.
The news of this anomaly spread, turning the island into a tourist hotspot for several years. The townsfolk even rebranded their sole settlement as the marketing-savvy Green River. The water from this fabled river mirrored the miraculous effects of renowned mountain springs, strengthening the human body but falling short of miraculous healings. Eventually, the allure of Green River diminished, and the medicinal wonders of this substance were forgotten. Only a few island inhabitants, along with the flora and fauna, continued to bask in its blessings.
As the scientists of EVAS delved into their research, they discovered that the greenish water held a miraculous substance – a panacea capable of not only curing the blight but also shielding against the epidemic. Fuelled by this groundbreaking revelation, EVAS decided to start mass production. The substance was extracted from the river's waters, purified, and introduced to the market under the name Serum – a beacon of hope, marking the arrival of a new generation of medicine.
From that moment on, EVAS has become famous worldwide and started to introduce even more potent types of Serum. Some could even alter the body functions – increase intelligence, speed, or in some cases – prolong life. As their appetite for success and money grew, they started to test more advanced mixtures that were designed specifically for the elites. This could be why I was here in the first place. Was I one of their guinea pigs? If only I could remember more about how and when I got here – and what has happened to this place. Let’s hope I’ll find more clues further on the way.

On one of my latest excursions, I stumbled across a boar in a grotesque form that sent shivers down my spine. Its flesh was torn, exposing raw muscle, while its eyes glowed a haunting green. I knew that if I didn't fight, this beast would surely overpower me.
As the creature charged towards me, I dodged its swipes, narrowly avoiding its razor-sharp tusks. Its strength was immense, and each blow felt like a sledgehammer against my body. I needed an advantage, something to level the playing field.
With a quick decision, I reached into my pack and retrieved a vial containing a mixture of Serum. I injected it into my arm, feeling an immediate surge of power. My senses sharpened, my muscles tightened, and a newfound confidence coursed through my veins. I leaped towards the boar, my movements faster and more precise than ever before.
With a series of calculated strikes, I managed to land blows on the boar, exploiting its weaknesses. The Serum coursing through me heightened my reflexes, allowing me to dodge its attacks with ease. The fight raged on, and I could feel the strain on my body, but I refused to give up.
Summoning every ounce of strength, I launched a final, devastating attack. With a precise strike, I plunged my spear into the boar's exposed flank, piercing through its decaying flesh. The creature let out a loud shriek, and its body convulsed before collapsing to the ground.
I stood there, breathing heavily, my body covered in sweat and dirt. The fight had taken its toll on me, but I had emerged victorious. The Serum mixture had given me the edge I needed to defeat the mutated boar, but what will be the cost?
As I took a moment to recover, I kept thinking about other horrors this island could hold. Would I be able to survive the next encounter? Only time would tell. But for now, my victory over this beast was a testament to my will to survive in this unforgiving world of Serum-infested nightmares.

It wasn't long after I found myself stranded in this strange place before I stumbled upon the plans for a Growing Table. Building this device would allow me access to a sustainable source of Serum from plants already growing on this island. I had to make it my top priority to craft one.
In my short time here, I’ve learned that Serum running through the plants was essential for survival on the island. The flora doesn’t offer much in quantity of the substance, but with enough plants, I can get ready for excursions deeper into the unknown.
Growing the plants turned out to be an easy task, but In the long run, I needed a more reliable source. The Growing Table lamps consume a lot of power, and that is a scarce resource in this forsaken place.
As I continued to explore the island, I encountered more and more strange creatures, all affected by the Serum – most of them hostile. But no matter what, I knew the Growing Table was only a short-term solution. If I wanted more Serum, I had to get ready to fight for it.

I have found something more sinister than I could ever imagine
As I wandered through the lush forest in search of resources, something caught my eye in the distance. A dilapidated building with broken windows and an overgrown exterior stood out among the trees. Again, my curiosity got the best of me, and I decided to investigate.
When I approached the building, a sense of unease washed over me. The front door was open, and I cautiously pushed it, stepping inside. The air was musty, and the only light came from the sun peeking through the cracks in the walls.
After my eyes adjusted to the darkness, I began to make out strange equipment scattered throughout the rooms. Tables with straps and restraints, jars filled with unidentifiable liquids, and medical tools that sent shivers down my spine. It was then that I noticed the paperwork tossed across the floor, with words like "mutation", "subject", and “serum” scribbled across them.
My heart raced as I realized the implications of what I had stumbled upon. This was a facility where human tests were conducted. What horrors had occurred within these walls? Who were the subjects, and most importantly, was I one of them?
