Devlog - Two New Items and Moving Forward (literally)
Hi!
We're one month into the new year and we've been hard at work, when this post goes live, so will a new public playtest, and this playtest will be the debut of two new items: The Orbital Strike, and the Gravity Well.
New Items
Orbital Strike
The Orbital Strike is a threat worth respecting. Aim and fire to place a target for the strike to hit. Anyone brave (dumb) enough to stick around will be hit by the unyielding force of space and time crashing in from above.
Gravity Well
Take a knee as you're crushed under the unbearable weight of the gravity well. Do you like freely moving along the Z axis? Well too bad nerd. Anyone or anything caught in the gravity will come crashing down to earth and get stunned when they hit the ground. Need to make a grand escape? Cross a gap and use a Gravity Well to block your opponents from following you over it!
What's that? It looks like your cardio has been paying off!
We're currently in the middle of reworking several aspects of Setback's movement. This means several new mechanics, as well as revamps of existing mechanics. One notable change is that our target movement system doesn't use stamina.
So for now, while we move towards our new movement, we've decided to turn off stamina. This means there's no reason to not just sprint all the time, but oh well.
Please Wishlist
Seriously, it means a lot. How much? Well from now on, anyone with Setback on their wishlist will receive a permanent +20% XP boost. You're welcome, shake my hand.
Your's truly,
Oliver M. B. Nakken

Throughout Scream Fest Setback will be transformed into a haunted version of itself with a frightening new game mode, creepy cosmetics, and horrifying new maps!
Horde Mode π§
Evil robots have begun spawning from the ground with a taste for man flesh! They have varying attributes, grow in number, and are dying to sink their robot claws into the nearest human.
No one knows the cause of the Setbot's corruption, but one thing is certain: Trust no one. This is not your typical band together to fight the zombies game mode, rather players will need to sabotage and back stab their way to the top. Work together if you must, but in the end only one player will remain π
Corrupted Maps & Spooktacular Skins π
Terrify the competition with some creepy new cosmetics!
With an evil robot invasion comes a new evil map! Get in the Halloween spirit with eerie decorations at every turn.

Setback Developer Face Off
Weβre happy to announce that Setback is participating in Steam Next Fest π
"The shooter where you can't die"
Setback is a free-to-play first-person arena shooter where players wield weapons infused with time-altering technology. These weapons replace death with βsetbackingβ, where a player is rewinded back through time. Utilize a variety of weapons and consumable items while competing in movement-oriented game modes across several arenas.
Setback is still in development and has only been playable during playtests...until now! Setback will be available to play all week long through the Setback Demo from Oct. 3rd-10th.
We will be hosting a special Q&A gameplay stream on Oct 6th 2PM PDT where you can interact with the team behind Setback!
Make sure to set a reminder on the right hand side of this post so you can tune in! Join the Setback Discord for live stream event times and to stay updated throughout Steam Next Fest. See you in the arena soon π
