v0.510 Final Chapter added to the game!

Final chapter has been added to the game. If you finished chapter 1, just click on the "Continue" button in the main menu, watch the final cut-scene for chapter 1 and continue playing the new content. If for some reason something happened to your save file, there is a cheat code to launch the final chapter. Unfortunately, this approach will skip the playable prologue for the final chapter. - Fixed bug where boss fight with Teddy bear didn't work properly if you load the game after the boss fight ended.
- Lots of small changes and improvements.

Final Chapter status update

I know that a lot of you want to know about the progress on the final chapter and some of you even think that I've abandoned Shadows Peak. Well, that is not the case. I'm actively working on the final chapter almost every day and this is my full time job.

In fact, final chapter has been playable from start to finish for some time. It isn't released to the public, because right now it's in the middle of playtesting stage, where playtesters play and I improve the game based on their feedback. I also plan to add a short playable section between the two chapters, currently codenamed prologue, to make the story of the final chapter more clear.

I don't provide specific dates because it's just too damn hard to predict those and I don't want to set false expectations or sacrifice quality to hit a specific date. Here are some screenshots from the final chapter.

Andrii's Horror Bundle now available!



Andrii's Horror Bundle is a collection of horror games made by Andrii Vintsevych. The bundle gives players the ability to purchase the included games at a discounted price. At the moment, the bundle contains the open world horror game Shadows Peak and the horror shooter Gynophobia.

Currently I'm actively working on chapter 2, that's why update rate is slower than before.

Version 0.389 is now live!

This is a small update to tackle some bugs in chapter one. Work on chapter two continues. Version 0.388 contained a bug, that's why it was pulled from steam.

- Stamina increased.
- Boulders from explosion could block path in cave. This is fixed.
- It was possible to not receive important sms in cave. This is now fixed.
- Player can no longer interact with the body inside the cabin through the window.
- Other small changes and improvements.

Work on chapter two continues, but there were enough improvements in chapter one to warrant a new patch.

- Decor improvements.
- Reduced amount of memory used by the game.
- Changed amount of health points received from medkits and white shadows.
- Fixed main menu bug reported by Biblicalreaper.
- Fixed an issue where the game sometimes asked the player to get a flashlight while the player already has one.
- Fixed rare crash when player is leaving the cave.
- Small changes and improvements.

p.s. Because of chapter two development, there was a lot of new bugs that needed to be squashed to make 0.387 happen. I want to thank EeuorT and Daniel Maloney for taking the time to find all those bugs.

Version 0.381 is now live!

Work on chapter two continues, but there was enough improvements in chapter one to warrant new patch.

Changelog:


- Added low quality trees option for low-end computers. This will make trees look ugly, so you should use it only if changing other settings don't bring desired fps.
- Physics configured to behave more realistic and less floaty.
- Combination of low quality settings and high field of view, caused some objects to disappear at a short distance. This is now fixed.
- Optimization of main level.
- Fixed some bugs in save & load system, that could cause problems for people who want to replay the game.
- Guy in a cabin, can now only be killed with knife.
- Moved bag with a lighter to a more visible place.
- Other small gameplay improvements.

Version 0.380 is now live!

At the moment my main focus is on chapter two, but I've dedicated some time to improve chapter one. Potential spoilers are hidden behind black lines.

- Color correction.
- Level design changes to improve visuals, gameplay and navigation.
- Player stamina increased.
- New default footsteps and jump sounds.
- Positions of some important objects changed.
- Flashlight can no longer run out of batteries.

- Mini boss fight difficulty changed.
- Fixed place where player could get stuck in cave level near girl backpack.
- Changing gamma could lead to a drastic camera zoom effect. This is now fixed.

This is basically a hotfix for 0.377. I really wanted to fix bright water bug from 0.377 changelog as soon as possible. Potential spoilers are hidden behind black lines.

- Fixed bright water bug in cave level.
- Fixed graphical issue with black shadow distortion effect that caused those distortions to pop up in some circumstances.
- Improved one scare.
- Fixed issue where music might not play after savegame load.
