Closed Beta Test – Arcane Toilet Upgrade
From Wednesday, March 19th, 2025, we will host a closed beta test for 7 days in which we are testing enhancements to the Arcane Toilet feature. The updated feature now offers two distinct functions: item sacrifice and item wash.
Sacrificing an item will increase mana, albeit with diminishing returns for each additional item sacrificed within the same day. As the item is consumed, flushing the toilet will boost your aura level and generate a new item. We have raised the maximum aura level to 1,000. Furthermore, we are introducing 'item quality,' which indicates an item's strength. Flushing the toilet will also enhance item quality.
Washing an item will alter its armor or weapon class. However, this process will remove the selling value, and any upgrades previously applied to weapons will result in a loss of invested resources. The first wash of the day will generate mana at full efficiency.
We understand that reworking an existing feature may not be universally welcomed. Therefore, we are presenting this rework during the closed beta phase. Our aim with this beta is to gauge player reception and determine whether the revamped Arcane Toilet is appreciated as a valuable new gameplay element within Shakes & Fidget. Certainly, we would like to identify any errors or problems that may occur during the test.
After the feature has reached a stage where it meets player expectations, it will be launched. We will ensure that a substantial period of time has elapsed between this release and the most recent Legendary Dungeon.
To give you a chance to participate in Closed Beta Tests, we will distribute a code that allows up to 2,500 registrations. Some personal access codes will be distributed on Twitch.
The closed beta server can only be accessed via Browser but not the Steam client itself.

Producer’s Note #31.2 - Who Is in the Alpha Group and How to Join
The Shakes & Fidget Alpha Group consists of highly engaged and knowledgeable players who have demonstrated a deep understanding of the game. Many members have been part of the community for years, actively contributing through Discord discussions, bug reports, and participation in Beta tests.
Their role goes beyond providing feedback—they help us identify potential issues, refine balance changes, and ensure that new features align with player expectations. Their diverse perspectives offer a valuable reality check during development, helping us improve the game experience for all players.
Currently, there is no direct application process to join the Alpha Group. Instead, we take notice of players who actively participate in Beta tests, provide meaningful suggestions on Discord, and contribute to discussions in the Bug Forum. Dedicated players who consistently offer insightful feedback and demonstrate a constructive approach may be invited to join the group in the future.
By working together with our most engaged players, we ensure that Shakes & Fidget continues to evolve in a way that resonates with our community.

Procuder’s Note #31.1 - Alpha Group – Our Approach to Early Feedback
During the early years of Shakes & Fidget, our testing process was informal, relying on Community Managers and engaged players to identify issues and provide input. As our game and vision grew, we saw the need for a more structured approach.
In 2023, we strengthened our Quality Assurance (QA) process with a dedicated internal team in QA and Development. A key turning point was the introduction of a Peer Group, originally formed to assist with server fusions and class balance discussions. This group quickly proved invaluable, providing feedback on new content such as the Sandstorm Dungeon before its release.
Recognizing their impact, we formalized their role and renamed them the Alpha Group. Their access to internal test servers and direct communication with our Game Design team allows us to gather crucial early-stage feedback on new content and features. The Alpha Group helps us fine-tune ideas, anticipate gameplay impacts, and detect bugs before broader testing begins.
A recent feature rework greatly benefited from their early involvement. The feedback we received encouraged us to remove certain behaviors from the rework concept, ensuring that long-term players would appreciate the enhancements implemented. The Alpha Group will continue to play a pivotal role in the testing phase before the feature moves into Beta and will be officially announced.
Their contributions enable us to pinpoint critical bugs and gain valuable insights into actual player behavior regarding various features. This collaboration ensures that our updates are well-received and polished before reaching the live servers.

A new world opens its gates! The NEW WORLD EU18 is going to launch today at 4 PM CET! Fight your way to the top of the Hall of Fame and prove that you have what it takes to have hymns sung about your heroic deeds in the future. The countdown is on!
Wait, there is more! WORLD FUSION 26 is estimated to take place on Friday, March 7. With the day change from Thursday to Friday, the servers to be fused will be frozen, and logging in will no longer be possible. The fusion is expected to be finished by 4 PM GMT+1.
