Steam Next Fest Competition

Hi everyone,

EDIT: Steam has messaged me that they made a mistake and are undoing their earlier decision. They will not be allowing Shapebreaker to participate due to it being available in Early Access. That's unfortunate news. This means the Steam Next Fest live-streams are unfortunately cancelled, but the competition will go on as planned!

Shapebreaker will be participating in Steam Next Fest from February 6 to February 13. Steam Next Fest is an online festival that features upcoming releases here on Steam! You can check it out here: https://store.steampowered.com/sale/nextfest

The competition will run from now until February 13, 15:00 CEST.
The goal is to get the highest score possible on the final boss with deck #1. The top 3 competitors will be rewarded!

Update v0.7.0

Hi everyone,

Version 0.7.0 is now live. Big update with the introduction of elite maps and a bunch of balance changes! Consider your options before going into elite maps. They provide some juicy minor curio's but are you sure your deck can handle the extra challenge?

Patch notes:
• Curio's have been split into major and minor curio's.
• Major curio's can be obtained from boss maps.
• Minor curio's can be obtained from elite maps.
• Each Act now contains an elite map with a random elite modifier.
• Shield generator is now a minor curio and prevents first 3 damage taken each map instead of first 7 damage.
• Credits extractor is now a minor curio and increases credit rewards by 50%.
• Added the option to skip curio rewards.
• Increased attack speed of Slingshot tower from 1.1 to 1.4 but reduced damage from 10 to 8.
• Increased damage of Sniper tower from 11 to 14 but reduced attack speed from 1 to 0.8.
• Increased damage of Poison element from 5 per second to 7 per second.
• Increased damage bonus per stack of Enrage element from 50% to 60%.
• Increased damage multiplier of Overload element from x3 to x4.
• Increased energy gained each turn from Energy Booster curio from 3 to 4.
• Decreased charge time of Battery element from 1.4 seconds to 1 second.
• Decreased base attack speed of Renounce element from 140% to 125% but decreased penalty per 10 credits from 10% to 5%.
• Fixed a bug that caused some towers to have 1 base damage less than intended.

New release date - May 2, 2023

Hi everyone,

I have decided to move the release date for Shapebreaker from February 21 to May 2.
I want to deliver a high quality full release and this will no longer be possible to achieve by February 21. There are multiple factors playing a role here which I would like to clarify below.

First of all I misjudged the impact of becoming a father. I knew that taking care of a child would take a lot of time and energy, but it's taking even more than I thought. My nights have been thoroughly and structurally invaded by my little baby girl and her constant requirement for sustenance. Even though my night rests are slowly being restored to an acceptable state, my original schedule for the game can not be recuperated. I do want to stress that my lack of energy has not impacted my motivation. I am more motivated than ever to work on the game and I am very excited about the journey to bring it to a successful full release.

Secondly I have been receiving a lot of positive feedback about the game. There are so many people that love the idea behind the game, that love playing it and would love to see it grow. As development on the game progresses so does my vision for what game should contain for a full release. Development on the game will require more time before this vision can be fully implemented.

So for these reasons it is in the best interest of the game to postpone the full release until May 2.
Thank you all for playing the game and providing feedback. I look forward to continuing this journey to full release and beyond!

Update v0.6.5

Hi everyone,

Version 0.6.5 is now live. Shape spawn points now show a preview of the shape that will spawn. Maps with multiple spawn points now have a smoother start.

Patch notes:
• Shape spawn points now show a preview of the shape that will be spawned.
• Maps with multiple shape spawn points now only have 1 active spawn point during wave 1, and 2 during wave 2.
• Increased damage of Burn element from 75% of hit to 120% of hit.
• Increased the chances of obtaining an item after a map in Act II and Act III.
• Increased the difficulty of the Act III boss map but reduced the health of the boss itself.
• Decreased life of Vessel shapes by 15%.
• Removed the chance of 3 event nodes occurring at the same depth in an Act.
• Added sound effect to taking damage from the effect of the Emergency Spare Parts starter deck.

Update v0.6.3

Hi everyone,

Version 0.6.3 is now live. Bit of a big update again. Acts now have branching paths instead of one linear path. This update also introduces events into the game!

Patch notes:
• Added branching paths for Acts.
• Added events which can be encountered as an alternative to maps.
• Decreased the number of waves for some of the Act III maps from 7 to 6.
• Decreased the number of cards drawn when playing a targeting priority card from 2 to 1.
• You can no longer receive more than one type of Target System Syphon curio.
• You now receive a warning when you still have a card you can play when ending your turn instead of when you still have energy left.
• Slightly changed description of Elementalist starter deck.
• Fixed a bug that caused Sun and Moon elements to linger on towers in range even when the element had been replaced by another.
• Fixed a bug that occurred when trying to place a wall on a spawn location or on the core.
• Fixed a bug that caused Shield to remain after a map.

Update v0.6.0

Hi everyone,

Version 0.6.0 is now live. Big update. You can now unlock other starter decks. A starter deck may contain either different cards or unique curio's or both! Thereby providing you with fresh challenges. I've kept the patch notes free of spoilers. Details can be found on the patch notes on Discord.

Looking forward to hearing your opinion on the decks. My favorite is deck 3, closely followed by deck 6.

Patch notes:
• Added first starter deck to unlock: Deck 2.
• Added second starter deck to unlock: Deck 3.
• Added third starter deck to unlock: Deck 4.
• Added fourth starter deck to unlock: Deck 5.
• Added fifth starter deck to unlock: Deck 6.
• Added the new curio Target system siphon I.

• Removed the possibility of facing the exact same types of shapes two levels in a row to increase diversity.
• Added a warning message when trying to end turn while you still have unspent energy. This message is not shown if you have the Battery curio.
• Decreased default damage boost of the Hoard element from 70% to 50.%
• Decreased damage bonus per unique card of Collector element from 20% to 15%.
• Changed the color of the Capacity booster curio from teal to yellow.
• Changed color of the Shield Generator curio from yellow to teal.
• Fixed a bug that caused you to still receive credits from skipping a card reward while having the Credits scrapper curio.

Update v0.5.5

Hi everyone,

Version 0.5.5 is now live. I have increased the layout diversity of many levels and gave some love to underused cards.

Patch notes:
• Increased the layout diversity of almost all levels in act 1 and 2.
• Added a new curio Battlements.
• Increased attack speed of Machine Gun Towers from 1.5 to 1.7.
• Increased damage and attack speed of Omni I Tower from 1.3 to 1.4.
• Increased damage of Pistol Tower from 1.6 to 1.8.

Update v0.5.4

Hi everyone,

Version 0.5.4 is now live. The game now supports all aspect ratios instead of only 16:9.

Patch notes:
• Added support for all aspect ratios, not just 16:9.
• Added a new option in the settings screen that determines if a tower card shows its stats when hovering on the card or always.
• Fixed a bug that caused Shape Bomb item to remain visible in UI after using it to kill the last shapes of a wave.
• Fixed a bug that caused the Credits Extractor curio to not double the credits received when skipping a card reward.
• Fixed a bug that caused game speed to affect the animations of the title screen.
