General bug fixes and tweaks

  • reduced the max active creatures in Survival by 1 (makes it a little easier)
  • pressing Y on the controller to start a NG+ now works
  • added new option to disable Fog Blur (disabled by default on Steam Deck)
  • performance fix for Steam Deck (previous update limited it to 30 FPS)

Note, on Steam Deck the FPS are limited to 30 FPS when showing any menus (except for the Options menu) to reduce heat & battery usage.

Joypad tweaks to make it easier to aim:

  • joypad sensitivity changes (i.e. smaller differences between each sensitivity option)
  • reduced the Y axis joypad sensitivity
  • increased time it takes to go to full accelerated turn speed
  • reduced the max acceleration speed

The Atlantic Goliath Grouper



We're putting the finishing touches on the highly anticipated update for Death in the Water 2, packed with new features, enhanced graphical options, and new creatures.

In the coming weeks, we'll unveil the full details of the update, However, we couldn't resist giving you a sneak peek at one of the most requested creature additions: the awe-inspiring Atlantic Goliath Grouper. This magnificent creature can reach lengths of over 8 feet and tip the scales at a staggering 800 pounds. Its presence in the eerie underwater horror landscape is truly a sight to behold.

NOTE a critical issue was found with the joystick so we just rolled back this update until it's fixed.

  • The game now includes a Unity bug fix that should prevent crashes some players were experiencing.
  • Implemented 64-bit color, eliminating color banding issues.
  • FidelityFX Super Resolution support has been added, with settings available in the options menu: Ultra Quality, Quality, Balanced, and Performance.
  • Playing on a different computer no longer requires you to repeat the training.
  • Improved performance significantly in the main menu.
  • Options menu now doesn't show the glass background for the entire background allowing you to see a bit of the visual changes you make real-time.
  • Made minor tweaks to the map.
  • The sea surface collider is much bigger now which should prevent the bug where a shark would swim around it and end up above the water surface.

  1. Treasure chest icons now show a dot above or below them if the chest is higher or lower than your current height
  2. Treasure chest icons are now much brighter to make it easier to see they also show from further away and fade out closer to the chest

  5. players spotlight will now cast light onto the weapon for more realism

Steam Deck



  1. Steam Deck - now loads the optimal settings for best performance and graphics (use "reset to default settings" if you already changed your settings)
  2. Steam Deck - now shows correct buttons on the menus to switch between tabs i.e. L1 & R1 instead of LB and RB
  3. Steam Deck - now uses larger fonts for the oxygen distance marker, multiplier, objectives text, and the subtitles


Bug Fixes



  • Fixed Dive 7 radio message not playing at all
  • Weapon Wheel - When using a Controller, it will now show the Controller icons to switch items instead of the keyboard buttons
  • Fixed an issue that some players who started with ver 1.0.0 had where their save game would work
  • Fixed the Gold value in the Upgrade screen getting cut off on certain screen resolutions
  • Fixed the mouse aim acceleration speed being slow at 30 FPS
  • Fixed an issue where changing the "Additional Light Shadows" from the Options menu whilst in game would not update immediately
  • Fixed Blacktip Reef sharks in the training were not scaled correctly, making them look squished
  • Improved Translations for French and Portuguese thanks to Gabriel Lira and Lucca Cardoso
  • Other minor bug fixes

BUGS FIXED



  • In training if you ran out of time it would freeze the game
  • In certain scenarios at the start of dive it would immediately end the dive
  • Shotgun ammo resetting to full when switching between weapons
  • If you had issues with the saving game it will now auto correct the issue
  • A few other minor bug fixes

ver 1.0.4 - Offline Support

As requested, you can now play offline.

  • Bug fix - Training picking up chest would say "1 of 0 chests found"
  • Bug fix - If you were killed by a shark in training the death screen and failed training message box would show at the same time. Forcing a restart of the game.
