Sharpshooter Plus

Sharpshooter Plus 2.1 update released

Sharpshooter Plus Steam/Unified 2.1 has been released as of 8/16/2023.

The following changes were made in this version:

- You won't hear the difference, but the way music works was redone. The end result of this is that the finished game no longer uses WMA-format music, which allows it to run on Steam Deck. If you'd tried to run Sharpshooter Plus on Steam Deck before, it would have crashed, but now it plays perfectly! Enjoy.

- Some embarrassing gameplay bugs were fixed that had affected playing on controller:
1) After making a mistake in "The Counting Game," the targets were not cleared properly, so the game wouldn't play correctly from that point onward.
2) Some targets in "Shrinking Square" were impossible to hit.
These bugs were only present when playing on controller; mouse and touch worked fine. But the truly embarrassing bit is that these bugs had existed since the Steam version came out. Both Single and Double modes were affected. I felt so bad that I updated the Mac version too, which has been delisted for over 2 years!

Sharpshooter Plus 2.0.3 update released

Sharpshooter Plus Steam/Unified 2.0.3 has been released as of 8/11/2022.

The following change was made in this version:

- X Mode added. Press the "X" key on the main menu 8 times to enable it.
Inspired by a 2-year-old, "X Mode" simply switches things up: you are now required to shoot the targets marked with Xs, and avoid the normal targets. Ultimately, there are no changes to the gameplay itself, but if you like seeing a big X and hearing a buzzing sound every time you hit a target, X Mode is for you! Now, as that 2-year-old said, "get an X score!"

Sharpshooter Plus 2.0.2 update released

Sharpshooter Plus Steam/Unified 2.0.2 has been released as of 9/19/2020.

The following changes were made in this version:

- If you were playing on a screen that was very wide, or very tall (portrait mode), the game was not handling resolution properly, and targets could be rendered too large/small, affecting gameplay and scoring. This has been fixed.
- In touch mode, it was previously possible to touch the "doors" obscuring the outer edges of the play area; when doing so, you could hit targets located behind them. This has been fixed.

(The above bugs could have been exploited to obtain higher scores, but after looking at the current leaderboards, I've decided not to clear them.)

- Bursts that appear when shooting targets were rendered too large if using the "Med" graphic detail setting introduced in version 2.0.1. This has been fixed.
- "Controller 1: Enter your initials!" no longer appears when playing with a mouse or touchscreen; now, the game will simply say "Enter your initials!"

Sharpshooter Plus 2.0.1 update released

Sharpshooter Plus Steam/Unified 2.0.1 has been released as of 3/17/2020.

The following changes were made in this version:
- Added a detail setting in Graphic Options; lower the detail if you've got an older computer, integrated video, etc. and performance is less than optimal. The default setting is "auto," which uses lower-detail graphics if your display resolution is 800p or less, and medium-detail graphics if your resolution is above 800p but does not exceed 1080p. (The previous version lacked the medium-detail setting, and "auto" was the ONLY behavior.)
- Some of the lower-detail target graphics previously had a purple tint around them. This has been fixed.
- The game now handles pausing better when the Steam Overlay is invoked.
- Changed a few text strings.

Game release delayed to 2/29/2020

Due to bugs found during late testing, as well as the need to make some game balance changes, and utter insanity at my job cutting down on the amount of time I've had to work on it, I am forced to delay the release of Sharpshooter Plus three days, to February 29th. I hope that you'll continue to look forward to playing it.

It isn't easy to develop and release games by myself, in my spare time, when I've also got a young family. And of course, finishing is the hardest part. While this may just be a re-release of a previously-released game, I would never be content with a straight port; I needed to add more modes, fine-tune everything, and obsess over every last detail, because that's the sort of developer I am. And I'll continue obsessing over my games for as long as anyone is interested in playing them!

So...thank you for supporting yyrGames. =)

EDIT: Actually, it's coming a bit sooner than this! I'll release it at approximately 11AM PST/2PM EST on Friday, February 28th. Enjoy!
