Update R83: Season Foxtrot

Welcome to SEASON FOXTROT, Shatterliners!

The new game season is 2-month long and free, to boot. There is a small change in the season tasks logic: now you need to complete several tasks from the current week to open the next week's tasks.

As always, cool rewards are waiting for you in the new season, including 12 new weapon perks:

  • The Transfusion perk for the Firespray submachine gun restores some health on reload based on the number of enemies killed with the bullets from the previous magazine.
  • The Reload Boost perks for the G9 Kungen pistol, the U44 Culverina revolver, and the the TWD X-Treme sniper rifle increase reloading speed by 10%.
  • The Cruel Repose perk for the G7 Springer pistol ensures that the players killed with precision shots cannot be revived.
  • The Prophecy perk for the Lupara Compatta secondary shotgun randomly grants you one of the three gifts upon kill: the gift of healing, the gift of ammo, or the gift of a quick reload.
  • The Giza's Gaze perk for the XM-40 Conciliator assault rifle provides you with a limited amount of freezing ammo after a kill.
  • The Stability Boost perk for the Λ-7 Ghost assault rifle improves stability by 10%.
  • The Lasting Moment perk for the Dragonfly sniper rifle returns one bullet to the clip if the whole burst has hit the target.
  • The Xenon Lights perk for the SAG-8 Reaper sniper rifle blinds the enemies around the target after a precision kill.
  • Accuracy Boost perk for the R21 Brute shotgun improves weapon accuracy by 15%.
  • The Blood Ritual perk for the R60 Gevaudan shotgun activates a self-revive after a certain number of kills, with precision kills bringing more value.

NEW MAPS

We are happy to present you a new short PvE episode: Quicksand. The Command has requested your report on everything you've seen and heard in the course of Operation Stormbringer. Every last bit matters. But first, you need to exfiltrate. Proceed to the rendezvous coordinates and wait for Commander Phillips to pick you up.

EXPEDITION

Expedition has got several big changes:

  • Bunkers, the new Expedition activity. Bunkers are linear indoor encounters that give you a pleasant change of pace in your expeditions. They are not as difficult as dungeons, but provide you with lots of fun and rewards.
  • If you lack some resources to obtain another PvE perk and have no time for another Expedition foray, you can now exchange the resources you may do away with to get the needed one. Just click on the "Exchange resources" button on the PvE perks screen.
  • From this update on, when players are down, they are not dead but are rather in a critical state. In this "down" state they can crawl to a safer place to be revived by teammates. Furthermore, as such players are not dead, they can attract mobs' attention, thus giving a respite for the teammates.
  • Two new perks orbit around this new "down" state. The Final Safeguard perk grants a 10-second barrier when the player gets downed. Every 7 kills grant you an additional 5 seconds to the barrier lifetime. With the Desperate Charge perk, a downed player hits the enemies in the vicinity with chain lightning every now and then.
  • In bunkers and dungeons, players can only be resuscitated by teammates. No more automatic respawns in these places.

BUG FIXES

  • Fixed issues on the Escort map where some of the tree leaves near the rock couldn’t be shot through. Another issue was fixed where a player could get stuck in geometry near the green off-road vehicle.
  • Fixed issue in Expedition where the red light of the ground mine continued blinking for a short time after the mine had been destroyed.

Community Update #3

Hey guys,

Let us start with a huge thank you. We see your concerns, and we hear you on social media. Thank you to everyone who is supporting us. It’s hard to put into words how much every kind word means to us.

The war is still raging on, day 712. It is hard, no use sugarcoating it. We’ve been hoping against hope for a swift breakthrough. It is emotionally taxing and draining for everyone. But.

Ukraine is not giving up, and neither are we. We are standing at a precipice, but we are not losing hope. We are looking for marketing help to bring in more players. While we are at it, we understand our most loyal friends – you – are sticking with us. We don’t seek riches. We want to survive and finish the game. And we want to show how much your support means: the new Season Foxtrot is on us, free for everyone.

It is hard to plan our lives right now. Plan anything that comes next. But Shatterline gives us some respite.
The Plant the Bomb mode – reviewed, renewed, and updated – is coming back.

When testing it last year, we were not satisfied how the mode performed, so we took it back to bake. We did not completely understand the scope at the time; and the more sides of the mode we looked at, the bigger it grew. It was not enough to change one or two things to make the mode fun in the way our design team envisioned it.

All in all, the mode received a significant overhaul. While the fine details are still being worked on, let us give you some pointers on what to expect.

The new Plant the Bomb partially adopted the classic ruleset, while retaining the Shatterline feel and remaining true to the core. We changed resurrection rules, added meaningful changes to the mode’s maps, and tweaked respawn points. All operatives and abilities have got an extra design pass. All players are starting equally, earning resources as the session progresses. The earned haul can be spent in the session-specific shop, this being the most important addition to the game.

Internal playtesting shows that the game is becoming more tactical and competitive with these changes, resulting in a new experience we are so excited about.

We hope. We put one foot in front of the other. We persevere. We move.
Thank you, with all our hearts, for moving with us.

Technical Update R82

Happy New Year, everyone!

The present update is a technical one, therefore it doesn't contain player-facing changes except for the bug fixes.

Update R81: Revamped Ranked Matches

RANKED MATCHES

The ranked PvP matches are back with some improvements.

There are five leagues: Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, Emerald, and Diamond, each one consisting of four levels - from IV (the lowest) to I. A player starts with 800 ranked points (used to be 300 in the first test season) and needs 1,000 points to progress to another level (thus requiring 4,000 points to progress to another league). The rank points scheme has somewhat changed: 100 points for winning and minus 100 points for losing a match. The penalty for leaving a match is minus 200 points. If you are disconnected from a game session, you will have two minutes to get back into the match.

League demotion. What's changed in regard to the previous test season is that after reaching the Gold and higher leagues, you may be demoted to a previous league (demotion worked only for the Diamond League in the first test season). No worries, there's a demotion protection for several lost games in each of the higher leagues.

After reaching Level I of each league, you will receive a special badge and a unique weapon paint as rewards.

For one month, Ranked Matches will be based on the 3vs3 mode comprising three maps: City Hall, Subway, and Ruins. We would like to see how engaging and fun the 3vs3 can be in the ranked compared to the Escort Mode. Pay attention that weapon perks do not work in the Ranked Matches for the purpose of balanced competitive gameplay.

We added the proper visualization of your progression through ranked leagues and levels, including the rewards you receive by reaching each league. Furthermore, the current rank will be displayed on the end-screen of a ranked match as well as next to your player badge in the game lobby and next to your friends and squad members' badges.
