Patch 0.8.1.0

Breaking Changes:

  • There was a bug in levels of The Eternal Ice (world 2): Ramps to plateaus allowing units to access the plateau from East to West were broken. We fixed those ramps but if load a savegame within a match of maps using those ramps, they will not be fixed before you restart the level. You should probably surrender and start the level again.
  • There was a bug in level 2 of the Eternal Ice (The Dungeon) which has been fixed. Unfortunately this means that you have to surrender and restart the level if your savegame loads this level.

New Features:

  • New screen for artifact management.
  • The research screen is now an all new training screen.

Quality of Life Improvements:

  • You will now be asked for confirmation when deleting a savegame.
  • Autosave will now create up to three savegames in each level.
  • Scrolling by moving the mouse curser near the edge of the screen is now possible. Please check the options menu to enable it if wanted.
  • Added some more mouse over texts.

Balancing:

  • Completely reworked damage calculations
  • Healing a unit is now only possible twice per level.

Bugfixes:

  • Fixed a bug that prevented the player from attacking enemy units.
  • Fixed some special abilities.
  • Fixed some texts.
  • Fixed a bug that gave you too few experience points in world 2 - The Eternal Ice.
  • Fixed Zepar's attack.
  • Fire will no longer harm flying units.
  • Fixed simultaneous attacks.
  • Fixed a bug that allowed capturing buildings that should not be captured. This may not be fixed for savegames of a running battle. You can surrender and restart the level you it bothers you.
  • Fixed a bug that made Lightning and Ice Storms kill complete stacks.
  • Fixed a bug that got the game stuck within a turn.
  • Fixed a bug within the calculation of artifact effects on battle calculation.
  • Fixed a possible exploit during the deployment phase.
  • Map view will now be left when the player hands over his/her turn.
  • Fixed a bug that messed up the options menu on the overworld map.
  • Typing text (the name for a savegame for example) will not trigger hotkeys any longer.
  • The battle result preview will now be more stable.
  • Fixed some situations where sounds were missing.
  • Fixed the portrait image for chariots in dialogues.

Finally, it is done! We know you've been waiting for it for a rather long while - and we'd like to take this opportunity to thank you for your patience - but now the wait is at an end:

The Eternal Ice is here!



We already told you what you can expect in this version 0.8.0 "The Eternal Ice", but here you can see it again at a glance. Detailed patch notes will follow shortly.

One important info in advance:
We changed the data structure for the maps. This means you will not be able to load save games of previous versions of this game.
This is the first and hopefully the last time this happen. Well, that's one of the downsides of early access...

So, what’s new? Some new Features:



  • Added a new world: The Eternal Ice
  • Fire! Lightning can sometimes start a fire now!
  • Added plateaus


What else happened? There are some new Dynamic Level Events, for example:



  • Capturing locations can unlock new paths
  • Certain units can be sworn in
  • Graves can be searched for quest artifacts


Oh, and of course there are Quality of Life Improvements:



  • Performance improved
  • New animations added
  • Reworked some UI elements
  • Visual changes
  • New music and sounds
  • New visual effects
  • Steam news can now be read ingame


Balancing



  • We've made some improvements here and tweaked a few things!


Bugfixes



  • Several annoying insects smashed!


The current version still contains the following known issues / bugs:



  • Various event texts are not displayed correctly
  • Various event and animation sounds do not come or come at the wrong place
  • Animations of the special abilities are partly not displayed correctly
  • Information after events like lightnings are displayed with some time delay
  • Balancing issues


Another small hint: The ingame texts are currently only displayed in English and German, but don't worry: The translations will follow in a later patch. :)

Version “0.8.0: The Eternal Ice” is coming!

It is with great pleasure that we can announce today: It is done! The new version "0.8.0: The Eternal Ice" will be released on February 25, 2022!
And it has it all!
There is a brand new island, with 9 levels, in a landscape completely covered by snow and ice!

What can you expect in this new version?

  • New enemies
  • A new, impressive landscape
  • New events
  • A completely new unit, the extraordinary Chariots, take the place of the Lizard Riders
  • New hero units
    The highly anticipated level 3 units from Aglovan and the AI

By the way, the level 3 units come with their very own special abilities and thus bring even more strategic depth into the game!

What else is new?

  • We introduce another strategic element: Verticality! Yes, you read that right! Height differences will now play a more important role. Units on elevated positions will grant more bonuses.
  • There are attack effects like blood splatters, feathers, dust or sparks
  • The sea comes into motion: Animated water / sea and waves at cliffs
  • And last but not least, the attack animations that have been eagerly awaited are coming!


That`s it? No, we have more:

  • The army management has been completely reworked
  • The main menu has also been reworked
  • The buttons for the special abilities are now permanently visible in the menu rose
  • More powerful disruption events with spreading fire
  • There are brand new events that are triggered by certain actions


And then there are the POI:
We will be introducing many different types of POI as part of the "Eternal Ice" island, bringing a good mix of buffs and salvation.
You are curious? Here are two examples:

  • Gates of the Old World: 2-4 hexes that are hidden in FOG can be made visible by the player.
  • Stone Circle: All own dead units within 3 hexes are revived.

We told you in our last entry that we had an adventurous year behind us - and as the old year ended, so begins the new one!

Yes, this year will have it all! What does that mean in concrete terms? Well, first and foremost, it means that we're currently working flat out on Shields of Loyalty.
Sure, we've always been working on Shields of Loyalty, but this phase can't be compared to anything else.

Can you imagine that internally we are releasing at least one new version per week?
And each one is better and more comprehensive than the last.

We ourselves can't wait for the day when we will finally present you the new public version.
This day is getting closer and closer and we are feeling the vibration of the hype train in full measure.
What's going on in these internal versions right now, you ask? What are we working on so diligently?
Well, we can tell you a little bit about it:

  • A brand new island with 9 levels
  • New strategic elements
  • Rework of the main menu and the army management
  • … and much more: More effects, more animations, more units, more artifacts …
