Hey Fools! Developer Dan here to officially announce the biggest makeover the Archipelago has ever seen! As of today, you’ll be able to meet Alphy and Pelly in your adventures to turn your starting area into the coziest nest a pelican holding a shrimp could ever dream of.
Alphy's project begins
Just like other major island dwellers, Alphy and Pelly are first found stranded on a raft in the middle of the sea… but this time, reaching them won’t be so easy.
To find them, you’ll need to dust off the trusty Stormstrider with the Beacon unlocked and head into the Darkness. Only then will you have a shot at rescuing these new (and very handy) allies.
Once rescued, you’ll start seeing Alphy and Pelly on the islands you visit during runs. Hand them extra items and resources you don't need, and they’ll use them as materials to rebuild the many structures of the Great Lighthouse—your new and improved starting hub!
While Alphy is busy with construction, Pelly is laying eggs of the most unconventional properties that can alter reality itself.
Pew Pew Mode is real!!
Pelly’s first-ever egg, the Pew Pew Egg, does something truly unhinged:
It replaces every. single. sound effect. in the game… With mouth-crafted masterpieces.
Yes, you heard that right. Over 400+ sound effects and 32 complete songs have been remade a cappella by our very own Ship of Fools dev team. What started as an April Fool’s joke in 2023 has now become a fully realized (and completely ridiculous) feature, thanks to the incredible talent of our composer, Philippe Grant, and the sheer foolishness of our team.
We're curious to find out what will be your new favourite pew pew mode remastered song!
Electric Effect
As Alphy and Pelly work on rebuilding your base, you’ll start receiving rewards from grateful inhabitants as a token of their appreciation.
For instance, once Rust’s Forge is fully restored, she’ll reward you with your very own gunsmith hammer, a new item called the Thunderclap (that will now be permanently added to your item pool). The Thunderclap introduces a brand-new elemental effect: the Electric Effect!
When an electric imbued projectile hits an enemy, it unleashes a burst of five electric bolts that have pierce and homing effects. Even better: these bolts inherit any effects currently active on the Fool who caused the electric effect to trigger—creating chaotic, chain-reactive moments of brilliance.
Many more items and space-time altering eggs are yet to be discovered!
Four New Fools Join the Fray!
Alongside this free content update, 2 new Packs of Fools are released as DLC! The first pack is the Golden Bay Duo introducing Commodore Goldie and Hanha!
Both these characters bring a new gameplay mechanic, allowing them to spend Sand Dollars to overcharge their reflect action, unleashing game-changing abilities!
Commodore Goldie – Flaunts its wealth with pride, yet hides a heart of gold
A goldfish with a taste for riches, Goldie digs with her trusty shovel to uncover Whirl Pearls. (or, with a bit of luck, maybe something else?)
On impact, these pearls create a Cash Vortex, scattering gold and wealth as they strike enemies!
Hanha – Relentlessly tracks the weak, leaving no bounty unclaimed
A fearsome bounty hunter, Hanha marks an enemy for the hunt.
When a marked foe is defeated, they drop a Hunting Trophy into the water—trinkets that boost player stats!
Each enemy has its own unique trophy, making every battle a high-stakes hunt! We will let you discover what each individual trinket does! Happy hunting!
Prepare to unleash shocking new strategies with The Thunder Tide Duo! This electrifying Pack of Fools introduces two eccentric new characters—mad scientists of high Aquademic renown who harness the power of static electricity to zap their foes into the bottomless abyss!
Both characters utilize a new gameplay mechanic that lets them roll to generate static charges. These charges build up and release into increasingly powerful electric effects!
Eelvis – Shock and Roll!
An amped-up electric eel with a jolted stage presence.
When he fires a cannon, he discharges all stored static energy, creating a devastating electric explosion on impact!
Gastropaul – Heavy shell, strong personality
This sea snail might look slow, but his resilience experiments make him a defensive powerhouse.
If Gastropaul gets knocked down or stunned, he shrugs it off and instead unleashes an electric explosion, fueled by his stored charges!
Alongside these new changes to the game, we’re introducing a new bundle that contains the base game, soundtrack and the 4 packs of fools for a grand total of 18 playable characters!

Ship of Fools – FREE Update and New Fools Drops April 24th!
Hey Fools! Developer Dan here, back at it again, because my evil plan I shared with you on April 1st worked! You heard that right, Ship of Fools is officially getting a new FREE content update, and oh boy what an update it is!
Mark your maps! Alphy’s Project Update launches on Steam on April 24th, 2025!
In this post, I’ll introduce you to some of the exciting new features coming your way, including four brand-new fools available as DLC!
Alphy’s project
Hold and behold Pelly and Alphy! The ultimate partners in crime (and construction)! These two have landed in the Archipelago with a grand mission: restoring every broken structure to its former glory!
Your job? Gather materials on your journey and bring them back to The Great Lighthouse Island so Alphy can unlock powerful new items and… well… Pelly?
Pelly, on the other hand, will be laying eggs—but not just any ordinary eggs! These eggs hold space-time-altering properties, adding an extra layer of foolishness to your adventure once incubating!
Each egg introduces a unique, togglable game modifier, because who doesn’t love absolute chaos? And here is the first one!
Pew Pew Mode
Pelly’s first-ever egg, the Pew Pew Egg, does something truly unhinged:
It replaces every. single. sound effect. in the game… With mouth-crafted masterpieces.

In case you’ve missed it back then, here was the original April Fools skit that started the idea for the pew pew mode:
Save your run, save the world
One of the most requested quality of life features is finally here!
With this update, you’ll finally be able to save your progress mid-adventure!
How does it work?
Your progress auto-saves whenever you select a new encounter on the map.
Next time you return, you can resume your adventure right where you left off!
Want to switch things up? You can continue a solo run in co-op or even take an offline game online—your run stays intact and it works the other way around too!
Golden Bay Duo
On the same day, two new Fools packs are getting released as DLC! The first one is the Golden Bay Duo introducing Commodore Goldie and Hanah!
Both characters bring a new gameplay mechanic, allowing them to spend Sand Dollars to overcharge their reflect action, unleashing game-changing abilities!
Commodore Goldie – Flaunts its wealth with pride, yet hides a heart of gold
A goldfish with a taste for riches, Goldie digs with her trusty shovel to uncover Whirl Pearls. (or, with a bit of luck, maybe something else?)

More Surprises Await!
That’s all I can reveal for now, but trust me—there’s even more content waiting to be discovered!
Join us on Discord, where we’ll be sharing exclusive reveals, new items, and hidden secrets about the update before launch!
It’s April, Fools!
Fools… it’s been a while! It is me again, Developer Dan, but today, I don’t have much time. They might catch me so I’ll be brief.
Last week, I was throwing out the most ridiculous ideas for Ship of Fools with Francis (Fika’s overlord), just blurting out nonsense without a second thought—never imagining any of it would actually stick.
BUT check this out… 15 minutes ago, while Francis was trapped in a meeting, I infiltrated the Management Slack and found this discussion. At first, I thought Francis was just being polite, listening and laughing at my ideas. But here's proof they are SERIOUSLY considering them!
What do they mean by “if the achievements are leaked we can’t back away”?
What will happen if I “accidentally” deploy them on Steam today?
Grab your limited-edition Ship of Fools Plushie!
One of the Fools’ worst nightmares and a creature feared across the Archipelago. When Puffy charges at your boat, you know time is running out before it explodes. But admit it, it’s still pretty cute, right?
Now you can get your very own Puffy to cuddle or toss to a friend! Don’t worry, this one won’t explode.
How to help bring Puffy Plushie to life?
To make the Puffy Plushie a reality, we need 200 unique supporters by December 23. Supporting requires just a $2 deposit. Once we reach this milestone, we’ll begin the plushie’s design. After that, it will be available for pre-order on the Makeship platform for 21 days.
LAST CHANCE! 48h remaining to support our new game!
Last month, we revealed Fika’s upcoming game, Don’t Kill Them All, and its Kickstarter campaign is about to reach the end! We’re super excited to announce that the project has successfully been funded and the game will be in YOUR hands in 2026!
Now is your LAST CHANCE to help us make this game come to life and grab some of the exclusive campaign rewards!
Don't Kill Them All is a turn-based strategy and base-building game in which you teach bloodthirsty Orcs to develop mindfulness by discovering passions, navigating emotions, and developing healthy relationships. In this original twist on the strategy game genre, you loot everything that you don’t destroy at the end of each encounter, but beware, your attacks as well as your enemies’ have large areas of effect!
Teach Orcs how to turn their passions into weapons!
The little baby boar must be protected at all cost!
Protect the little baby boar EVEN MORE by adopting your own!
The whole team behind Ship of Fools has poured its heart into this one and it would mean the world to us if you like what you see and wish to support us in this new orc-filled adventure. Please consider backing our kickstarter campaign and adding the game to your wishlist.
Our campaign for Don't Kill Them All has 1000 backers! Check out our Kickstarter campaign if you haven't yet, or add us to your wishlist on Steam now!

Loop 1 HP Multiplier: 2 → 3
Loop 2 HP Multiplier: 5 → 10
Loop 3 HP Multiplier: 9 → 25
Loop 4 HP Multiplier: 14 → 50

Equipping multiple Light Fan trinkets now adds additional projectiles. Light Fan projectiles now synergizes with other paddle enhancements such as elemental effects, additional damage, size and speed.
Bug Fixes:
Prevent some enemy looping sound to be played infinitely for the guest in an online game
Endless mode update out Now! Also Orcs?
Wait what? Orcs? Those guys can swim now?
Before talking about the latest Ship of Fools update, let us introduce Don’t Kill Them All, our brand new game being revealed on Kickstarter TODAY!
It would mean the world to us if you show your appreciation for our work by backing our next game! You can also wishlist it now on Steam to stay in the loop. We’ve put a lot of care into it and we’re sure you’ll like it a lot!
Hey Fools! Developer Dan here, bringing you details about this new Ship of Fools update releasing the highly anticipated endless mode along with a plethora of balance adjustments and bug fixes.
Since the game's launch, the community has eagerly requested an endless mode, allowing a successful run to continue indefinitely. So we did it! From now on, upon winning any run, you'll have the option to embark on an Endless Mode adventure, retaining your current equipment and starting anew from The Forgotten Waters.
But beware! Each time you enter a new loop, enemies receive a substantial power boost. This added challenge compounds with the modifiers provided by The Lighthouse brightness levels.
Hold on a moment... Are we suggesting that it's now feasible to duplicate any item at the High Sea’s fountain on each loop? This would theoretically allow for an infinite number of identical trinkets to be equipped simultaneously, right?
YES.
Let the crazy builds go wild and shall the fun remain endless!
v1.4.0 patch notes
New features:
Endless mode added
Balance changes:
Reduce owlet movement speed when charging the boat before exploding
Increase paper plane ammunition homing force and damage
Fools balance changes:
Quill: Missing a shot only removes 2 stacks instead of all of them. Sentry gun not hitting enemies does not count as a miss. We felt that her ability was too punishing, making her almost unplayable in certain situations. Now Quill is a strong pick while still requiring some good aiming!
Betty: Initiate rage mode when getting hit by a regular paddle attack from another player instead of only initiating from a heavy hit. This allows for the other player to continuously initiate Betty’s rage mode while she remains shooting!
Finley: Rework reward pool from repairs. Now when repairing, Finley has a chance of spawning:
Regular resource: 60%
Basic chest: 25%
Ancient chest containing an item: 5%
Jules: All light trinkets are now included in the pool of obtainable items from his ability. Jules will now generate a trinket when defeating The Eye of the Storm. Prior to this update, activating Jules' ability upon defeating the final boss was unnecessary. However, with the introduction of Endless mode, this item now serves a purpose in subsequent loops!
Miscellaneous:
Prevent sentry cannons from shooting an enemy with an active deflection bubble
Barnaby and Jules ability now remove the generated item from the pool of obtainable items to make sure those items are not generated again in the same run
Replace Mama Gull inventory image
Replace Yoyo trinket activation keyword from “damage” to “accuracy”
Something special added to the main menu…
Bug Fixes:
Fix plank bundle given by the siren in The Edge cave sometimes falling in the water
Fix achievements for completing a run not being shared with the client in an online game
Fix some special chest encounters ending too soon
Fix siren ship misplaced hole making it hard to repair
Fix enemies looping sound never stopped in certain situations
Fix projectile attack ground target sometimes not being deactivated
Fix item transfering when switching fools not working properly as the client in an online game
Fix paddle reach bonuses given not applied to the client in an online game
Fix homing projectiles not being able to hit enemies that are very close to the water level
Fix Mama Gull projectiles not hitting some boss parts
Fix sometimes being able to open the map during sector loading soft-locking the game
