Hello to our dear fools! We've decided to let you in on some juicy secrets from the Development team! Introducing part one of our developer blog! We'll give you some keen insights into the game as we progress through development and let you know our thought processes into our game mechanics!
We've just finished the rework on Hink's ability and I think it's a nice kick-off for the dev blog! Hink's ability is the following: When one of her projectiles does a critical hit, the projectile explodes applying each of its current effects in a medium-size area of effect around the point of impact.
As you can see in the GIF, a critical shot inflicts damage on every buzzers around and she's able to kill a few of them with a single shot on a critical hit. (Note that in this clip, the character was given items to reach a critical hit chance of about 30% for showcase purposes)
Hink's ability can combo with many things in the game and aims for a high-damage crit build. Remember that EVERY effect of a projectile that deals a critical hit will be applied in the area of effect (not only damage)... We'll let you discover how far those combos can go. ๐

Life on board ship is a treacherous one for Fools, with chaotic cannon firefights, โoarsomeโ swashbuckling, and run-saving deck repairs all part of the experience. As they set sail aboard the Stormstrider for the tempestuous waters that surround and swirl through the Archipelago, Fools have to work together to stave off enemy encounters to secure rewards, uncover lost treasures and remote shops on islands, use harpoons to loot items adrift on the open sea, and ultimately defeat the final boss and try to stop the end of the world. As runs are attempted and progression is made additional Fools can be unlocked, each with their own unique special ability.
At the heart of the Archipelago is the Great Lighthouse, from where the Fools set sail and embark on their adventures. During their journey, theyโll also rescue individuals stranded across the many islands and bring them back to the hub where theyโll set up stalls for Fools to shop from. Along the way, new cannon types can be purchased, while trinkets and artefacts found bobbing on the Archipelagoโs seas can imbue the crew with passive upgrades, furthering their valiant attempts at stopping the Aquapocalypse.
