Shores Unknown - Steam Summer Festival Quick Pitch
THE SHORES BECKON
Shores Unknown is a turn-based tactical RPG rendered in a rich, low-poly aesthetic. Play as the newly-made leader of a mercenary company, explore unknown lands, forge new alliances, and wage battle against those who would see to your end.
Steam Summer Festival demo will let the players make their first steps in this new land, putting them in control of mercenary siblings Morten and Ren, sent on a mission to uncover the truth behind a prophecy that has something to do with the Murk - a seething wall of fog at the end of the world, from which it is said no ship has ever returned.
This demo contains the beginning of the first chapter of the game's story, which should take the player between 30 minutes and 2 hours to complete.

Shores Unknown: Devlog #5 (Spring 2020)
Hello, Mercenaries!
Hope you're all staying safe during these tumultuous times. Meanwhile, we're back with a fresh update on the development process of Shores Unknown!
Story update and new locations
We're happy to announce that we're almost finished with the main story of the game. Our scripter and level designers are working on finalizing the last chapter, while the writer team is busy with script edits and side quest activities.
Final world map art
The world of Shores Unknown is ripe with various locations for a you to explore, and to navigate around it, you'll need a map. We're excited to finally present the final look for the map of the continent where most of the events of our game take place. Take a look:
Fresh teaser trailer
We recently posted a new video for the game, which features some of the game's combat encounters, the new UI and a score from our composer Claudi Martinez. Watch it here: [previewyoutube="76uMUmp-66U;full"]
Release window update
While all the pieces of the puzzle are slowly but surely falling into place, we unfortunately had to reconsider our release window and postpone the game's release from Spring 2020 to a later date, which we will announce in advance in a separate post. As a team, we are committed to delivering a high quality game experience, and realistically that means a few extra months of polishing everything into shape. As gamers ourselves, we know waiting can be tough, and we do apologize for this delay, but we're sure the wait will be worth it in the end!
We'd like to conclude this post with a shout-out to a game we can wholeheartedly recommend you to wishlist and follow here on Steam: Vagrus is an award-winning turn-based open-world dark fantasy RPG. The development team has been playing table-top RPG (DnD) on their home-brew setting, The Riven Realms, for over two decades so it has incredibly deep lore and immersive story.
They have just recently posted a huge announcement on their Steam development blog about opening up the open-world main campaign of Vagrus to all their Crowdfunding Backers in preparation of bringing the game to Steam.
Wishlist and follow Vagrus for up to date information about its development milestones, upcoming features and ultimately to get notified about its release when the time comes.
And that's it for this time, Mercenaries! If you like Shores Unknown, please remember to wishlist the game on Steam. We also post regular updates on our Twitter and Facebook pages, so consider following us there!
Shores Unknown: 2019 Year End Update (Devlog #4)
Greetings, Mercenaries!
We've been quiet for a bit, working on wrapping up a bunch of tasks we had planned for this year, and we'd like to share what we've been up to in the past couple of months!
The main focus for now remains on the implementation of main story content, new locations to explore and adversaries to overcome. We're now close to being finished with 3 out of 4 chapters of the story - with main scripting work done and most events being playable. Chapter 4, which concludes the story, is on its way too, with our level designers working on necessary locations and the writer busy preparing the dialogue script.
Speaking of adversaries - while a lot of fights in the first two chapters are against human enemies, having a roster of varied foes remains one of our core goals. And things are going to get quite hairy in that regard in the second half of the game...
...as you'll be able to meet some pretty nasty beasties during your travels, and you'll have to flex your tactical muscle in order to triumph over the challenge they provide. (Our playtesters happen to tell us this game gets hard sometimes.)
Not even the seas are safe!
The other large part of our recent work was updating the game's UI. A sizeable amount of this year's work was dedicated to playtesting and refining the user interface, making sure things were accessible and easy to read. And finally, we're about to reap the results. This is the first time we're showing the final UI to the community, and we're curious to hear what you think about it!
Compared to the previous iterations, there are a lot more interactive elements and visual cues to help guide the player. And for the first time ever, you can actually see the current stats of each character during battles, with buffs and debuffs affecting them!
Yeah, you can even do... this.
Battle isn't the only UI we're updating - just the first big change to be implemented, and the turn of all the other interfaces to get a visual uplift is coming very soon, too!
Well then. The year of 2020 is less than two days away, and we couldn't be more excited for it. The game is getting closer and closer to to completion, and we have some hot announcements to make soon, so stay tuned!
As usual, if you like what you're seeing, please consider wishlisting the game on Steam and following us on Twitter and Facebook!
Thanks for staying with us, Mercenaries! Wishing you a Happy New Year and looking forward to seeing you land at Shores Unknown soon!
We're back from TGS2019!
Hey, mercenaries! We're back from Tokyo Game Show 2019 with a bunch of photos and impressions!
Last Wednesday, our team leader Ilya went to Tokyo to participate in the biggest game convention in Japan - Tokyo Game Show. Our publishers Hitcents also sent a team of their best people to support us at the show.
Last minutes of calm before the storm. We had both PC and Switch build playable at the event.
The event itself lasted four days - the first two being for press and industry people, and then opening to public on Saturday and Sunday. And while the b2b days were breezy, the weekend was a warzone - with more thank 200k people attending in total! Here's a taste:
After the doors of the venue opened on Thursday, we had a steady stream of visitors at our booth for all four days. We ended up handing out almost all the merch we brought to the event - including 500 sticker sets, 400 flyers and more.
Yes, cute exclusive stickers featuring our cast of female characters. Also pins.
But of course, nothing feels as good as seeing people engage with a game you spent hours making - and have fun with it!
Someone even made the hidden bear miniboss we had in the demo stand on its head!
Overall, it was a crazy, fun and very busy event. Huge thanks to the folks from our publisher who came all the way from US to Tokyo to help us run the booth, our volunteers, and all the friends, old and new, who supported us.
If you want to support Shores Unknown too, remember to wishlist us and spread the word. In fact, please do spread the word - after the recent changes to Steam discovery algorithm it's harder than ever for indie games in development to be noticed by players. But we'll do our best!
